Battered by Trump, the CDC's director
faces pressure to speak out

Washington–Pressure is mounting on the leaders of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention—from inside and outside the agency—to speak publicly against the White House’s manhandling of CDC research and public health decisions, with career scientists so demoralized they are talking of quitting if President Donald Trump wins re-election. The situation came to a boiling point last week when William Foege, a giant in public health who led the CDC under Democratic and Republican presidents, called for its current director, Dr. Robert Redfield, to “stand up to a bully”—he meant Trump—even at the risk of being fired. “Silence becomes complicity,”

BIL has COPD. Went into the hospital on Wednesday. Was told he has the Wuhan flu. He is home today. He was given the same meds PRESIDENT Trump was given while in Walter Reed Hosp. I would think that the CDC would be on top of this medication. Ramping up production (in the USA) and getting it out to hospitals. These scientists at the CDC should all quit. We could get real drs and scientists working there. Might save a few lives!

Has anyone at the CDC or NIH read the two scientific papers authored by the top researcher at the Hong Kong WHO monitoring laboratory, Dr. Li-Meng Yan? She has compiled genomic sequence data on the SARS-COV-2 virus that indicates it did not evolve in nature. It further shows that PLA scientists fabricated data that has been published to the international GenBank database to cover their tracks and confuse the scientific community. Rather than worrying about their political butts maybe they could have some of our own virus experts corroborate her findings and determine if we have actually been attacked by a bioweapon from the CCP. That seems like a slightly more important priority than who gets to keep their cushy job after the election.

The fact that they put out worthless test kits early on proves that they are incompetent at a level that should get their budget cut by 80% at least. CDC is unnecessary, especially when they prove that their 'emergency response capability' is of zero value.

#16 As I understand it, Regeneron it is still getting approved. Trump and Christy got it because they have connections. My mom is early in the illness and not terribly sick yet. HCQ is very helpful for her situation. But the CDC is pushing doctors to tell patients it is dangerous and refuse to give it.

#20, no matter how sick she is or isn't, she should be pushing every button she has to get the Regeneron, even though it is not fully approved. The monoclonal antibodies just shut down the virus, deactivating it's capability to enter human cells and reproduce. HCQ suppresses the body's inappropriate response to the virus, helpful, but the immune system still has to work hard and long to kill off the virus. Regeneron is a huge 'jump start'. I am certain that if I wind up with this stuff, I will be doing whatever it takes to get the monoclonal antibodies for me, or for any of my loved ones. IMO, it will be the game changer.

The CDC has been battering our country for close to nine months. Latest casualty I've noticed is a little music school on main street that was there for at least ten years. No idea how many teachers there were, but they had banners on front windows that listed about six or more instruments they taught. Empty. For rent. Thank you CDC and company. Lived through the Hong Kong flu. No shutdowns. One hundred thousand died, and that was probably a true count and did not include car accidents, cancer and heart attacks.
