I’d rather watch the weather channel rant about the hurricane headed for us in Louisiana rather than watch ,la pretend to know what she’s talking about.

The Fox pre-debate show featured Chris Wallace, and I could not imagine that they would have him show up after his biased performance last week. The entire mood of the Fox people was obviously anti-Trump. I switched to Newsmax. Fox is getting worse and worse.

Did Dana Perino actually say they were both master debators? I thinks that's what I heard but it doesn't sound like Dana, more like Gregg.

I could watch only the first half-hour after Harris’ smirking and shaking of the head made more viewing dangerous to my mental health. I grieve for the poor conservative commentators who are forced to watch the whole debate in order to write their summaries for us to read Thursday and after.

Oh my gosh I can’t watch it. Kamala has a despicable manner and Pence’s gentlemanliness is going to do him in. The questions are already slanted. It won’t change my vote no matter what so I am content to read about it tomorrow.

Vice President Pence is a skillful debater and is winning on merit. I would prefer that he live within the time segments allotted and that he not interrupt her time. I understand it is now the current practice to talk over your opponent, but I think it engenders a sympathy for Kamala Harris that she does not deserve.

THE MODERATOR IS CUTTING OFF PENCE 30 SECONDS EARLY IN HIS 2 MINUTE SEGMENTS. SHE ALSO CUT HIM OFF AT 30 SECONDS INTO A ONE MINUTE RESPONSE. WHAT THE BLOODY F**K IS GOING ON?

Harris is a disaster. She is coming off as a real witch. Very unlikeable. Notice how she shakes her head and smirks everytime Pence tells the truth about her and Biden.

I listen to Pence and mute her. I can’t stand her voice or her smirks and giggles. I have disliked her since the Kavanaugh hearings.
Loved the way he began by calling out Biden’s plagerisms.

Kamala Harris comes across as bossy and impatient. Mike Pence seems calmer as he's waiting for his opponent to finish speaking.

VP Pence is doing a great job. He's hitting all the points, and he's taking all the time he needs. Kamelho sounds like a prostituting cooing to a client. She also speaks like a high school girl trying to get a date with the star football player. The moderator lied again about Breonna Taylor. Kamelho tried to sound like she knew the girl personally. Justice? What about justice for all the people strung out on drugs because of Breonna's drug dealing?

The debate is still going on. KA-ma-la is getting smoked by calm and sure Pence. I am still waiting for KA-ma-la to find a way to say ..."that little girl was me"...
but the debate is not over yet.
But it is over for KA-ma-la.

VP Pence got her on her record of putting tons of black people in jail in California! He got her! That wasn't a lecture, baby, that was a freakin' smackdown. He killed her on that one. Woot!

I have never been able to see Vice President Pence as a viable candidate in 2024. I love him and think he’s a decent, wonderful man, but I just haven’t been able to see him as carrying the ticket. Until tonight. Outside of the interruptions, which I thought were off putting, Pence was terrific. Kamala’s body language was very distracting (who mouths “Wow” during a debate?) and disrespectful toward Pence.

I try to be open minded, but when anyone repeats the Charlottesville lie and the false military slur, I immediately reject ANYTHING that person has to say, including the weather and sun rising in the east.
Similarly, the local Congress critter up for re-election is praised to high heaven in all ads, some of which have merit. However, she (in this case) voted for the articles of impeachment. She might as well take the money for those campaign ads and build a bonfire for all I care.

Looks like she was making an unwarranted assumption about "honest Abraham Lincoln" not appointing someone to a vacancy on the court during his re-election. Chief Justice Roger Taney died October 12, 1864 roughly three weeks before November 3rd, the same year Lincoln was up for re-election. According to this author, (http://www.mrlincolnandfriends.org/supreme-court/ - last paragraph) Salmon P. Chase and several other men were already under consideration for the post. Lincoln appointed Chase, his former Treasury Secretary, who took the oath of office in December of 1864. Before his other political experiences in the Lincoln administration, Chase practiced law in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he worked to protect runaway slaves and the white persons who had aided them.
Lincoln did not fill the vacancy immediately. But there is no evidence that he waited because he wanted to allow his presidential opponent the opportunity to fill the post in the event of an election loss. Certainly, pre and post-election pressures and/or his own personal decision-making process would have had some bearing. He was known to be a man of prayer and deliberation - not given to making snap decisions.
SALMON PORTLAND CHASE, Chief Justice
Born January 13, 1808; died May 7, 1873
Party -- Republican
Home State -- Ohio
Appointed By -- Abraham Lincoln
Replaced -- Roger Brooke Taney
Oath Taken -- December 15, 1864
Died in Office -- May 7, 1873

ADDENDUM:
"He [Lincoln] sent no nominee to the Senate in October 1864 because the Senate was out of session until December. He sent a nominee the day after the session began, and Salmon P. Chase was confirmed the same day."
