Jay Inslee, the left wing governor of Washington State, is freaking out because Boeing has decided to move production of its 787 airplane to the more conservative and business friendly South Carolina.Who can blame Boeing for making such a move, especially if it benefits them financially? Besides, in Seattle, leaders have shown that they will allow mobs of left wingers to destroy businesses.KING 5 News reports:
Boeing moving all 787 Dreamliner production from Everett to South Carolina. Boeing will relocate all 787 Dreamliner production from Everett to South Carolina, the company confirmed Thursday.

Is the 787 actually allowed to fly yet? I thought that they had all been grounded for safety reasons. With the airlines laying off thousands, perhaps they won't be ordering a lot of planes anyway.

Timing of the announcement is really bad for Inslee. Right before the gubernatorial debate (10/22), after 6 months of business shutdowns of various levels, and after CHAZ/CHOP and Seattle riots (Which Inslee didn’t know about until he was asked in a press conference).
They will really need to turn on the fraud machine (we are a vote by mail state already, so they will need to find a lot of Inslee votes after the election for him to win again.

#7 you're thinking of the 737. 787s are flying though I think orders have declined some with the downturn in airline traffic. I wonder if orders pick up if they will move some production back to WA or expand the line in SC.

When we lived in Seattle long ago, we could not understand how anyone could run a business there. And it has gotten worse.
The entire city economy relied on Boeing. When Boeing would lose a contract, all the businesses in the Greater Seattle area went to pot… Then there was hope for a turnaround, but not now. This major production won’t be coming back.

Boeing has wanted to do this for some time due to union issues. However it was seen as attempt to avoid collective bargaining therefore potentially illegal. Now with reduction in demand they have a plausible business reason immune from litigation. Of course the unions could offer concessions and beg Boeing to keep 787 production, but not likely.
The timing is right for many blue collar and white collar workers to transfer because of the high cost of housing and the deterioration of the political, social and security situation. This is the beginning of the end of Boeing's Seattle assembly operations forever. Specialized heavy machinery operations will remain as well as warehousing and aircraft storage and possibly testing etc., but the days of tens of thousands of workers is ending.
All the reasons for Boeings to have operations in Seattle no longer exist. Boeing's Seattle operations are a legacy of WWII and the Cold War. Just like any other legacy highly unionized industry, their skills which they could leverage in contract negotiations have been superseded by simplified procedures, processes and automation and a large available pool of better educated/trainable workers who live elsewhere and are willing to relocate and work for more reasonable wages.
The good news is that housing may become more affordable for regular working people if its not burned down.

Could this be a lesson for all those liberals who think they can simply continue to milk businesses until there is nothing of value left for the business?
After all, businesses run SWOT analysis (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats) all the time, and one constant Threat is politicians and regulators.
Attacking businesses is how Democrats increase taxes, without most people realizing it, and avoiding being blamed for raising prices or taxes.

Boeing would be well advised to move from Washington state. While doing it, the Boeing executives should self examine why they are doing it, and ask themselves why they support Democrat policies that has forced them to re-locate from a state that has the policies they have voted to live under.

I'm here for it, but Boeing, please don't transfer the leftists in your company here. You know who they are. I lived in Seattle during the late eighties, and I had friends who worked for Boeing, and they made very good money even then. One friend was an expeditor did nothing but deliver parts to the different departments, and she was well paid. She'd save money for the terms of their contract only to spend all of it when they voted a walkout during contract negotiations. I tried to tell her then that the unions were keeping them down, not Boeing. Union bosses continued to get paid during their strikes, but the workers had to spend all their savings to pay their bills during the strike.
When Boeing first came to SC, they tried to get them to unionize; I'm pretty sure it failed. It's great news that Boeing is vacating the premises in Seattle, but SC does not need any more leftist voters coming here and changing things. We like SC just the way it is, except for that demon triplet still left in power, er uh um, Clyburn--the one who helped Biden win SC. I forgot, Lindsay Graham and that snake in the grass Cunningham. On second thought, SC is not doing so well. We need Jim DeMint back.

If this trend continues, across the country, there are going to be MORE areas of the country that cannot pay their bills because the producers, workers, TAX PAYERS, pick a term, are GONE !!
At that point there will be a clamoring for the Federal Gov't to send truckloads of worthless ( printed ) cash to 'help out' these areas. They should e told, in no undertain terms - N O !
Then, all of the recipients of OUR tax dollars, through an untold number of 'programs', whom we have supported indefinitely, and were expecting to continue to be supported may just decide, finally, to turn on those who promised them EVERYTHING WILL BE FREE - and failed !!
If I were one of those 'leaders', I'd have a 'bug-out bag', vehicle ( preferably flyable ) and plan all warmed up. It could get real ugly real quick !
Just sayin'

Right after WWII Buffalo NY was a very rich city. Then rats destroyed it. Took them a couple of decades but it is gone. Everyone in Washington state can see their near future by looking at Buffalo. Republican candidates for every elected office in that state should flood the streets with cameras and interview women and college students and ask them who they voted for and then ask the ones who voted for rats like Inslee if they are happy about the reality that THEY created. Ask them if maybe they feel guilty or if they learned anything about the business climate or government incompetence that they created thanks to their ignorance.
If you could find any who would honestly admit they voted for Washington rats, ask them if they are proud of paying a pimp $100k to be a street 'czar.'

The plant includes the largest building in the world by volume at 13,385,378 m3 (472,370,319 cu ft). The entire complex covers 98.7 acres (39.9 ha) and spans both sides of State Route 526 (named the Boeing Freeway). Will they still pay taxes on the place? Will they tear down all the buildings after they have left? Will they be able to sell the land? Who wants to build up any sort of business in the state of Washington?

When my parents lived in Seattle, whenever Boeing lost a contract, nearly new cars would flood the markets. My dad left Boeing, he was a Master Tool & Die maker, as and went to work for the Navy, at The Univ. of Wash., where he retired. Within a year, they were out of Wash. state. Still have a few cousins and ex in laws there, but they're too liberal for my blood, so there's no communication with them.

it will impact the region not only in Snohomish County. I can't tell from the article, but in the day airlines who bought Boeing airliners would come to Seattle to pick up the aircraft and pilots would go through a transition period including doing touch and go's at an airfield out in the middle of nowhere near Moses Lake. I remember working in the fields near there and seeing JAL, BOAC, United, Lufthansa, heck every airline which purchased a Boeing out there going through training. I wonder if they still do transition there, and if they do, will that also now be done in SC.

This move is about Union busting also. Washington State wants to turn Socialist (aka anti-Capitalist) then capitalism will flee the State. The battle between Producers & Takers, just like Ayn Rand predicted. Boeing will keep the mature 777 platform in WA but it will be turned down from 5 aircraft per week to 3, resulting in proportional job losses. Boeing has a fairly mature work-force and offers very nice severance packages. The younger Engineers and Production Supervisors will no doubt be enabled to relocate, and with the current state of affairs in Seattle, many will claim it a blessing.

Looks like the folks in Washington State, asked for it and they got it! :-( They seem to think that Businesas and Politics can live separately, without effecting the other.. They are gonna pay for that screwed up line of thinking....In Wichita they have built Boeing airplanes, for a long time... The Union has bargained for contracts for more years than I can imagine...."... They practice that old Union taqct of hold their feet to the fire, util management capitulates....They found out around Wichita, when Boeing sold their operations here out to 'Spirit Aviation Corp"...They WERE making the 737 variants here, until some in management had a better Idea...About 1/8 months, or so, when a couple of their 737's crashed due to issues surrounding crew training, and faulty software and hardware(?)...They now are trying to get the 737 re-certified, and back in the air; of course they have an untold number of completed aircraft just sitting around, going nowhere, in Kansas and Washington. Just soaking up that valuable commoditiy, of Corporate Cash..... Bummer!
Now about 2000 or so, Boeing got fed up with not only Washington State's governmental demands, but the Unions were not making things any easier for them to make airplanes....So they went down to South Carolina and built a big factory to build the 'new' 787's. The Unions moved in, and tried to organize that new plant....Unfortunately, the folks in S.C. were having none of that union organizing...The Unions got 'kicked-to-the-curb'.... So the 'then-new' 787's are built in S.C. now...Seattle and Everett are becoming more and more irrelevant to Boeing Aircraft Co.
So, apparently, the Commie-socialist Gov, and his minion have just awakened to the fact that they have allowed their State to be come the Crap Hole of the Northwest...
Jobs fleeing to other locales, and the radicals left there are just burning to ashes what's left behind. WHAT A WASTE.
