Food pantries for months have relied on a government-sponsored food box program to serve a spike in needy families during the pandemic. But the latest batch of boxes includes an item some find unpalatable as the election nears: a letter signed by President Donald Trump.
The letter, printed in both English and Spanish on White House letterhead, highlights the Farmers to Families Food Box program and includes general safety information for preventing COVID-19 transmission.
It does not mention the Nov. 3 election, but some local food pantries say it’s inappropriate and plan to remove the letter before distributing the boxes to families.

Well, then, just return the food as well. Ungrateful leaders in this town!

These people are so childish as to be laughable. The have the mindset of a middle schooler who is engaged in petty drama to the point of being pitied. How do adults get to this age and act like this? I have never seen anything like it.

If the letter had been from Obama, they probably would have framed it and hung it on the wall.

1. They can refuse to accept the food boxes.
2. The government has no requirement to send them in the first place.
3. If not for Trump they probably would not have been sent.
4. Remember in 2009 when all these big signs started showing up on freeways where there was construction going on saying things like your stimulus dollars at work. How much did those signs cost? To top it off the projects they were touting were planned, bid on, budgeted and let at least a year or two before zero was even elected.
What does it cost to print a letter?

So sad. Did they replace it with a copy of the Communist Manifesto?

This may be a stretch, but are these boxes shipped? Is shipping considered mail? If so, wouldn’t that be tampering with the mail?

The families are needy because they have destroyed their neighborhoods and grocery stores. I agree, stop the food deliveries, let them squawk.

Balderdash! If the sainted Kenyan had been thoughtful enough to think of such a message, you can bet Chicago food bandits would still have taken them out of the food boxes, but only to sell them on e-bay.

Information - censorship = Democrat. Can't have the American people know anything good this Administration is doing. BUT, bet if it was an Obama, Clinton, or Pelosi letter there would be no problem

Like petulant children, liberals will cry and complain and break things, until they get their way. That's if you let them! It's past time to figuratively send them to their rooms, without supper.

The boxes will probably be used to buy votes. "Give us your ballot or you won't get any more boxes"

This doesn't surprise me.... Chicago is in desperate straights....The Madigan mob from Springfield, Illinois... where the democrats control everything... have chicago's mayor slow foot under their thumb.... they gave her the political job and now they don't know what to do with the mess they created... sounds like that issue with the hurricane money that was sent to ...was it Jamaica ...I forget what island it was...the politicians keep the money ..food...and water for themselves...and bad mouthed President Trump for sending it...

Sounds like they are contaminating the boxes by going into them. Not very safe!

The poster of this article uses the word "pettiness" in reference to the removal of the message from the President. The word petty is exactly correct.

#15, the most recent serious theft occurred in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria wiped the island clean but crooked government theft of any type of aid to third world countries is more common than not, whether it be across the Caribbean islands or on the entire continent of Africa. Regarding Haiti, the millions that were collected by the Clinton Foundation didn't even make it as far as the Haitian government. Chells is living in a condo in Manhattan that was purchased with those funds.

Only politics I can see being played here is on the part of the Chicago Food Pantries. Why would they suppress valuable information otherwise?

I get a pension check every month from the taxpayers of NYC. And every single month there is a useless message from the NYC Comptroller. Is this not a political message paid for by the taxpayers? I've never heard ANYONE here in NYC complain. Pathetic. I'm sick to death of these a..holes.

I don't need the food box but would LOVE to get one of the letters. Hey lefty haters, save one of those letters you illegally take out of the federal gov food box and give it to me. Thanks
