Three White House reporters tested positive for COVID-19 Friday after President Trump confirmed he was diagnosed with the coronavirus earlier in the day. The White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) said in a letter to White House reporters that the three unidentified individuals had all been at the building within the last week and that the White House Medical Unit is beginning the process of contact tracing for each person. The WHCA added that several White House journalists are self-isolating pending testing. “Due to cases linked to the pools last weekend and the large number of press credentialed for the 9/26

MILWAUKEE - Cesar Hernandez says he has made thousands of phone calls since June urging Latinos in the battleground state of Wisconsin to support Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden. (Snip) “Latinos have seen almost nothing from Biden here,” said Hernandez, 25, who works for the Progressive Turnout Project, a national group working to mobilize Democratic voters. “There is very little enthusiasm for him.” As the race to the Nov. 3 election enters the home stretch, appeals to Latino voters have taken on new urgency for Biden and incumbent Republican President Donald Trump. Both campaigns are pouring resources into the battleground

Employers added 661,000 jobs in September, pushing the unemployment rate down to 7.9% from 8.4%, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics said in its latest employment report. Friday's jobs report is the last one before the November presidential election. The latest data indicates a labor market still trying to dig itself out of the hole caused by the coronavirus pandemic, which shuttered much of the U.S. economy and caused more than 20 million people to lose their jobs in a single month. Before the pandemic hit, the unemployment rate in the U.S. was 3.5% in February. Broken down by racial

Shortly after President Donald Trump announced early Friday morning that he and the first lady, Melania Trump, tested positive for the coronavirus, the editor-in-chief of one of China's state-run media outlets tweeted to suggest they deserved it. "President Trump and the first lady have paid the price for his gamble to play down the COVID-19," Hu Xijin of the Global Times tweeted. "The news shows the severity of the US' pandemic situation," Hu added. "It will impose a negative impact on the image of Trump and the US, and may also negatively affect his reelection." Trump was tested for the

GENEVA -- American cyclist Quinn Simmons was suspended by the Trek-Segafredo team on Thursday after posting antagonistic comments on social media in support of President Donald Trump. The 2019 junior road race world champion replied to a journalist from the Netherlands who had criticized Trump on Twitter. ''Regrettably, team rider Quinn Simmons made statements online that we feel are divisive, incendiary, and detrimental to the team, professional cycling, its fans, and the positive future we hope to help create for the sport,'' Trek-Segafredo said in a statement. ''(He) will not be racing for Trek-Segafredo until further notice.'' The 19-year-old rider Wednesday

It’s a curious thing, the reality that our friends on the Left choose to live in. If you happened to listen in to their takeaways from the first of three, 2020 presidential debates between President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday night, you might be convinced that Joe Biden won the debate going away, the president was so obnoxious to Sleepy Joe and moderator Chris Wallace that it might be in the country’s best interest to cancel the other debates, and Donald Trump is directing a full orchestra of racist dog whistles for a citizen militia

The pundit class really, really hated the first presidential debate of the 2020 election. They hated it so much, in fact, that many of them don’t want to see another one for the remainder of the election cycle. "Tonight was the first presidential debate of the 2020 election, and if there is any sense or mercy left in this nation, it will be the last, too," writes the Atlantic’s David Graham. If the Commission on Presidential Debates “really wishes to benefit the American electorate,” he adds, “it should cancel the rest of the debate season.” “Cancel the remaining presidential debates.

Beijing — At least 5,000 pets were found dead in cardboard shipping boxes last week at a logistics facility in Central China, likely casualties of a miscommunication in the supply chain of China's thriving mass-breeding industry. Only a couple hundred animals were saved, and authorities have launched an investigation into the grim discovery in Henan Province, a local animal rescue group told CBS News on Wednesday. "The station was cluttered with express boxes with thousands of animals that had already died, and the entire place reeks of rotting bodies," said Sister Hua, the founder of animal rescue group Utopia. She doesn't

A little thing like a pandemic isn’t going to keep the liberal municipal governments of many cities from continuing to prosecute their war on the gig economy, and that’s clearly true in Seattle. Despite having plenty of more pressing issues to address, with all of the rioting and looting going on, the City Council voted unanimously this week to enforce a new “pay formula” for drivers of ride-sharing companies to ensure that they receive the $16.39 per hour pay rate as regular full-time workers in the city. And the “formula” they’ve cooked up to do this is nothing but a

California is the first state in the nation to consider reparations for those harmed by slavery and racial discrimination. Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill on Wednesday that will create a task force to study the issue. "After watching last night's debate, this signing can't come too soon," Newsom, a Democrat, said on a phone call announcing the decision. The legislation, Assembly Bill 3121, calls for a nine-member task force to document the historical and present impact of enslavement on African Americans and to "[r]ecommend appropriate remedies." Those recommendations, including the possibility of "full reparations," are to be presented in

SANTA ROSA, Calif. – Robert Hayden and his wife, Alla, have lived in the Spring Lake Village retirement community of Santa Rosa for 10 years and love its beautiful grounds almost as much as the plethora of interesting people they’ve met there – retired doctors, musicians, pilots, writers and executives. (Snip)The thought of leaving the picturesque wine country, with its abundant top-notch restaurants and pleasant weather, is not typically tempting for those who can afford to live in the area. But the notion may become inevitable for many if the quick-striking wildfires continue to ignite regularly in a region that

American Muslims took to Twitter to praise Democratic nominee Joe Biden after he used the Arabic word “inshallah,” during a discussion on President Trump’s tax returns in the candidates’ first presidential debate Tuesday night. The remark came after the debate moderator, Fox News’ Chris Wallace, asked Trump to comment on recent New York Times reporting that the president paid only $750 in federal income taxes per year in 2016 and 2017. “I’ve paid millions of dollars, and you’ll get to see it,” Trump said, implying that his tax returns would eventually be made available to the public. “When?” Biden asked.
