“Two weeks to flatten curve.”
Remember that? It was several months ago now.
The deal elected officials struck with the American people was to trade lockdowns for hospital capacity. The fear in the early days of the COVID pandemic was that hospital capacity would be overwhelmed if we didn’t lock down, curb activity, and so forth. So we got “two weeks to flatten the curve.” New York City built a hospital into its Javits Convention Center. President Trump sent a Navy hospital ship to handle the expected caseload.
None of that capacity was needed. Way back in June, CNN declared that New York had “flattened the curve.”

He should be assassinated to prevent the death of New York.
No, not me, but some justifiably enraged New Yorker.
Or, out-of-town talent.
Jeremy Bentham, etc.
Maybe I'm out of line, dunno.

Priceless! The people of NY are getting what they deserve for electing him. Hope their are no term limits so they can enjoy his tyranny forever.

It's up to the Voters in NY to handle this travesty. If they don't have the gumption to recall their governor and Mayor, we sure can't help them out. We're sure as heck not in favor of any kind of Bailout for that state. Who knows what the Mayor would do with it. Probably do some more street painting. DeBlasio is a Moron and the people still elected him, so as they say, "you reap what you sow"!! Business Owners should pack up and move to a Red State before they have to declare Bankruptcy.

I'm asking myself whether de Blasio is purposely trying to destroy NYC. For decades I represented several municipalities on dozens of matters, including budgetary planning, debt, bonds, etc., and I have a Masters in Public Administration. It's abundantly clear to me that the financial damage de Blasio is causing to NYC is staggering, and is getting worse every day. I do not begin to understand why there is no apparent effort to stop him, including, and by no means limited to, residents of NYC, New Yorkers throughout New York State, residents of neighbor states, holders of NYC bonds, etc., He must be stopped ASAP by every legal means. In plain sight he's engaged in inexcusable nonfeasance in office, and it's in no way justified by COVID-19.

Have you people ever considered that the people of New York DIDN'T elect him?
The Democrats must get their arrogance from somewhere. It would not surprise me, that, like in third world dictatorships, teh Democrats hold elections then announce their 'win' by completely manufacturing the count.
If their officials note that 2.8 million votes were cast, they can pick a number - say, 1.8 million votes for De Blasio, and who questions them?
We are far too complacent.

Empty promise from an empty suit to an empty town. Is the city council just as stupidly corrupt as is the mayor?

Mr. Bill is driving property prices down for his CCP masters. The CCP will eventually buy up all of NYC's property, and New York City will become a Chinese Province on the Hudson. And you don't see Prince Andrew stopping Mr. Bill, so his silence is explicit confirmation that Andrew is also on the CCP's payroll.

Is there no ability to have a recall vote in NYC? This guy is an asshat and New Yorkers are asshats for letting him get away with this.

I grok COVID-19, and even SARS-CoV-2; but what's COVID-Unism? No match for "Unism" in my brain's namespace.

He is intentionally crashing the real estate market and at some point will go on a massive buying/investment spree and snap up as many deals as possible, then reopen the city and wait for the market to rebound.

Same attitude from the governors in Ohio and MIchigan. It's especially bad here in Ohio where we thought we'd elected a Republican and got a tiny minded rino instead.

Commenters do not seem to understand that the two criminals were elected by downstate voters, NYC and environs, and they will be re-elected, because it is a bastion of social insanity in the Big Apple with a worm.

Viruses are going to be around forever. In the course of human history, we have totally wiped out two diseases - smallpox and rinderpest (a disease of cattle). Covid-19 will be with us for quite some time, just like the flu. The nurse who gave me my flu shot said she predicts that we will get a covid shot just like we get a flu shot. She had some choice words for the press too.

Or until the residents get tired of his failed policies. If they do not, they deserve what they voted for.
