Jordan Williams, 18, recently posted a video on TikTok encouraging fellow Gen Zers to get matching tattoos as a sign of rebellion. She stumbled across the symbol, a letter Z with a line through the center, in the comment section of another user's video. She thought the image seemed simple enough and universal enough to be a good fit, so she issued a call to action to her 2,000 followers. "OK Gen Z listen up!" Williams captioned a video of herself staring into the camera wearing a black hoodie. "What if, now hear me out...We all got a matching tattoo.

It doesn’t look anything like a swastika. What OP said.

I have been making my z's that way for 50+ years. It is easier to distinguish between a sloppily printed z and a sloppily printed 2. The distinction is important if you are working through math problems.

Perhaps they should all get 'STUPID' tattooed on their foreheads instead.

"But sometimes, it's just a misunderstanding. "
Aye. And the road to fake news is paved with intentional misunderstandings (i.e. misrepresentations).
Re #2 -- the way the Boomers and Gen X have teamed up to replace history lessons with "Progressive" propaganda makes today's general ignorance of history more of an inevitable tragedy than a mystery.

Another sanctimonious mental defect issuing orders to "listen up" to the rest of the sanctimonious mental defects.

Nothing says "rebellion" like massive conformity!!!
If 2000 people are going to get this tattoo, wouldn't you actually be the "rebel" of the group if you didn't get it?!?!?!?

Not only did this moron get a tattoo - behind her ear! - that looked like a neo-Nazi symbol, she can’t spell “avocado”.

Apologies to #2 for treating believability like understandability. They aren't all that similar, let alone the same. (Except for those of us who find it hard to believe anything we can't understand...)

#7, my apologies, I should have clarified that point, you are exactly right.
I have had acquaintances with unit tattoos or ship tattoos, and I do get that.
"USMC" on the shoulder, or a Black Horse shield, or "BB-62 USS New Jersey" on a forearm are signs of real accomplishment and these type of tattoos are a HUGE exception to my general rule.
But.....for most of these overly tattooed folks, they have no real accomplishments, so they apparently try to stand out with tatts. I know a few tattooed folks that I respect (other than military folks) but by and large, I find that avoiding tattooed folks is a good bet.

I enlisted in '61 and separated in'65. Tattoos were around, but not on the scale we see now. I've always told my children and grandchildren that the only good thing about a tattoo is that it makes the body easier to identify. I'm with poster #8.

I agree with most posters - nothing like the Nazi version of the swastika. The Nazi version is two crossed S’s not Z’s (mirror image).
The swastika (Z’s) is a Zoroastrian symbol for peace. It was used by Native Americans, too.
That said, tattoos are signs of a poor memory or a lack of self-esteem - neither of which I would want to broadcast to the world.

The European "Zed" character looks nothing like at all like Nazi Swastika, which the Nazis purloined from Hindu Indian symbology for "divine" or "spirituality." They merely flipped it from left-facing to right-facing. The left-facing symbol is referred to as the "sauwastika," or सौवस्तिक in Devanagari script dating back to the 19th century... a tad before the German National Socialist Party's origins.

#19, it never said it looked like a swastika. It said "Nazi symbol". Sadly, there were many symbols used by the Nazis.
Look up the "Wolfsangel" Nazi symbol. It looks just like that symbol only turned sideways.

Twitter for Twits who can't read or write. How about the males get a tattoo that says TIK. The females can get a tattoo that says TOK. Those who aren't sure can get a tattoo that says TIK TOK and buy a big roll of masking tape to take care of things on a daily basis. Or just get you some cool looking SS lightning bolts and a "skull cap" ... history buffs will get the joke.

#1, in saner times a tattoo on a woman was known as a "tramp stamp." Wish we still used the term.

Nahh #14, you're one of my favorite posters. But I had a tat back in 84 before it was cool. You're right about some lowlifes though. I saw a waitress in Oregon with a tatoo of a baby with a knife thru its head.

Why not a Hello Kitty tatt - would fit with their characters, largely.
Oh, wait....even better "My Little Pony", yeah, that's perfect.

The letter Z with a slash through the middle is part of several alphabets. Reminds me of people who thought the Norway flag was a 'secret' Confederate flag. Some people see 'hate symbols' behind every grassy knoll.
