Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., sent a letter to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., urging him to pledge not to use “anti-Catholic, anti-Christian, anti-faith” interrogations in the upcoming confirmation hearing for President Trump’s SCOTUS nominee Amy Coney Barrett.
“There is a long history of anti-Catholic hatred by some in this country, and a growing tide of anti-religious animus on the Left now, and I hope you and your colleagues will not play any further part in it,” Hawley wrote. “Already, members of your caucus have said that they will do this again—that the nominee’s religious views will be a prime focus,” Hawley added.

The Democrats will still do it because they worship at the altar of abortion. They leave a path of death, from all of the aborted babies, everywhere they go and with everything they touch.

I remember the arguments that were used against JFK becoming President and they seem to be recycling the same bizarre logic. If you are Catholic and act in a way that is not approved by the Pope you will be excommunicated and lose your soul. Does anyone still think this way, even the Pope?

Nice try, Sen. Hawley, but I’m sure Chuck the Schmuck will file that in the circular file.

Democrats are anti God. They don’t want freedom of religion they want freedom from religion. They want to replace In God We Trust with in government and democrats we trust. Religion and God to them is like the sunlight to Count Dracula.

Religion, in any form except for Islam, teaches respect for your fellow human beings, virtue, responsibility, truth and respect for the law. Democrats lack any of those qualities, thus their hatred for someone of faith.

If it's ok for a Jew to sit on the Supreme Court, then it's ok for a Catholic.

I'm betting Hawley is smart enough to know they won't and is poking Chuckie in the eye to get them to do precisely that. The optics coming out of these hearings ought to be immediate fodder for ads that crush Dems far down ticket.

You would think Sen. Hawley would know the Constitution does not apply to the Rats. They govern by their own made up rules.

Yes, it is unconstitutional. I suspect that a brilliant mind like Judge Barrett will have thought up a nice reply line when the first "religious test" type of "question" (attack statement) comes up in the hearings.
Probably something along the line of "I'm sure you don't intend for your question to stray into an unconstitutional religious test, so I'll just leave that one alone, and we can move on." Pleasant smile and bright blue eyes saying silently "Your not smart enough for this game, Senator".

If being an non-observant Jew is good for the bench, then being a conservative Catholic is just as good or better.

So, Chuck U, do we get to apply that litmus test to your “Catholic” presidential candidate?

The Left can't help themselves. They will dash into the minefield, it will blow up spectacularly on them.
As I said, the Left can't help themselves. The only show more unappealing will be the barbarians dancing outside.

#11, too nice. They aren't going to vote for her anyway so take a little slice when they veer into that arena: "I thought an elected senator would be aware of article vi, clause 3 of the constitution. Have you read that part of the constitution, Senator?" Either response they give they look like the ignorant dummy they are. And set themselves up for the slice.

Constitution my butt.
All that has to be said is that if Judge Barret's Catholicism means she needs to withdraw from SCOTUS nomination does Joe Biden's (much pronounced) Catholicism means he must withdraw from his presidential candidacy nomination ? Take it or leave it Antifa.

My thoughts as well OP. Rather surprising that that segment of liberal society is going goofy on Catholics. Especially since their liberal icon, JFK was Catholic.

In the coming hearings, the Senators Feinstein, Hirono, Harris, Blumenthal, and others, will declare with one voice that a Christian believer is unfit to serve on the Court. They will accuse her of lying under oath when she took her oath of office, since she serves a Higher Power. They will impose a religious test: you cannot be a believer and serve.
And there will be endless attempts to ensnare her in a perjury trap. Her children will be attacked, both those she bore and those she adopted. She will be declared unfit because she is a mother. She will be declared racist because her two adopted children are from Haiti. She will be declared unacceptable because she accepts the Constitution of the United States (which is unconstitutional, according to that famed Scholar Barak Hussein Soetoro).
And there will be surprise witnesses who will accuse her of some as yet unspecified deviltry.
After all, Justice Kavanaugh did all kinds of things for which there was no evidence.

I nominate Senator Josh Hawley for the first Trey Gowdy Award for All Talk and No Success. Josh is probably auditioning for a gig with Fox News like all those other accomplished nothing such as Chaffetz..I've noticed that Devin Nunez has been sounding depressed and lost lately on his appearances on Tucker. Sad.

OP, there are Catholics who practice and live their faith, and there are CINOs who could not find their neighborhood church with a GPS system.

How can the party of gazillion Kennedys, starting with JFK through murderous Teddy and on and on possibly object to a Catholic? Their Sotomayor has to be a Catholic. Kagan? Other justices? Biden? Pelosi? Does a Jew - Charles Schumer or Diane Feinstein or Richard Blumenthal - really want to charge into this minefield?
