Republicans are knocking it

political ads and memes

It was already obvious comparing the two conventions: Even though the Democrats own the actors, they don’t own the true creative talent in Hollywood. That all seems to have crossed to the Republican side of the aisle. The Democrat convention was drab and oppressive; the Republican convention was bright and open. It’s the same thing with ads and memes. As far as I know, there are no incredible, knock-it-out of the park Democrat videos. The Republicans, though, are killing it. Here are four of the best.

Watch all four, and you will have a smile on your face and joy in your heart.... You're welcome.

Great ads! Like them all! I guess my question is, aren't they a bit long for TV? Where would they be watched except online? All are praiseworthy. Guess maybe through social media, of which I do not partake. MAGA!!! KAG!!! TRUMPS 2020 AND BEYOND!!! Only wish I lived in TX and could vote for all six, in MD so I could vote for Clacik, and I'm definitely voting for ORANGE MAN GREAT!!!!

Biden's ad are weak platitudes, similar to Obama's "Hope and change." Biden says vague assertions such as he's going to make things better, including helping small businesses. That's a hot one! AOC intends to have federal regulations and Executive Orders that would be more oppressive than Obama's. However, Trump needs to hit harder that Biden can be blackmailed by China and that bringing corporations back to the U.S. from China will cease. Also, Trump's ads must start quoting some of the outrageous policies stated in Biden's manifesto. Perhaps this will be done closer to November 3.

Biden has the worst ad in history. The one where he is speaking about his first wife and child dying in the car crash. Everytime I start to hear it, I mute it. There is nothing uplifting about it. Its about poor me, look what I had to go through. These ads, on the other hand are uplifting and in the case of Crenshaw's, funny to boot.

On the face of things, the July 2016 murder of Seth Rich had intrigue enough for a full season of House of Cards. (snip) To understand how a story this potentially explosive could be suppressed for so long, it is necessary to understand one basic fact of Washington life: Donald Trump received just 4.1 percent of the District's vote in the 2016 election. Trump's election disrupted short-term strategies and long-term expectations in every one of the capital's major institutions, local and federal, public and private, the legal community among them.

The New York Times is undoubtedly pleased that it published more than two decades’ worth of Donald Trump’s tax returns. The self-congratulations are premature. The Times’ article reveals that Trump was telling the truth all along about his audit. We can also see that Obama’s policies benefitted rich people. Finally, because the policies show how our complicated progressive tax system will always benefit rich people with good accountants, the Times unwittingly advanced the argument for a flat tax.

Even in a profession known for phoniness, Kamala Harris stands out as remarkably fake. We expect politicians to lie — "what a beautiful baby!" — but we also expect them to be reasonably skilled at it. Being unable to convincingly name a favorite thing takes a lot of experience in counterfeiting feelings. Yet, yesterday, in the softest of softball interviews on CNN, where she was asked about her various "favorites" — roast chicken is her "go-to" dish to cook (as if she spends a lot of time in time kitchen [snip]) — she stumbled and revealed that she only pretends to listen to rap music.

If this is the most important election in decades, this is its most important moment. Thus far, this campaign has been a referendum on Trump; Tuesday’s debate will be one on Biden. Its outcome depends on which Biden shows up. Like all races with a president seeking re-election, this one has centered on the incumbent. Thanks to a hostile media and Trump’s aggressive use of social media, America has had plenty of material for judgement. Topping it off, 2020 has been an acutely tumultuous year: Beginning with an impeachment trial and now a contentious Supreme Court vacancy — with a pandemic, a recession, and nationwide violence in between.

Is anyone really surprised that Donald Trump’s tax affairs are opaque? Or that he is not as rich as he claims? Is it really all that horrifying that he has for years claimed business losses in order to offset his significant income tax liability? Does it appall us that the Trump family used a Delaware-based consulting group to pay themselves? Of course not. The New York Times’s big Trump tax files splash on Sunday is therefore something of a flop. It is well-timed — an election is fast-approaching and the story might give Biden a good attack line in the big TV debate on Tuesday night.
