Though there were no sarcastic references to “Handmaid’s Tale”, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell did include a pretty sweet dunk on Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in his latest floor speech lecturing Democrats on their panicked hysteria over the upcoming SCOTUS confirmation battle.
Fresh off of his Wednesday smackdown of Sen. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Sen. McConnell spent most of today’s speech reminding people of how the playbook is the same for Democrats every single time the issue of a Supreme Court nominee comes before the Senate. Without fail, they immediately declare each and every Republican nominee for the Supreme Court

I recently watched on You Tube Dr. Thomas Sowell's testimony for Judge Bork's hearing in 1987. Was wishing I could go back in time & slap Biden then - he was just as arrogant & just as stupid - reading off his notes to explain some obscure point - blah! Dr. Sowell was competent, quick & casual - pretty much squashed him.

I have to admit I have a love/hate relationship with the Senator. He can sometimes make me crazy.
However, his leadership in PDJT’s judges placement is superior. And this new nominee will be no exception.
Pass the butter.

The hysterical angst among the dems will be off the charts because that is all they have. They have already lost this battle and they know it. All they can do now is try to turn it into a usable election issue, therefore the hysteria. The dem party functions on hysterical exaggeration of issues, mostly imaginary. Consider all the warnings about Trump in 2016, financial collapse, wars, women rights erased, minorities in chains, ... None of this happened. Instead, a lot of good things happened. The only bad things that happened were caused by dem/media/Leftist hysteria created to GET Trump. None of their attempts held up and most were absurd.
It is great that Mitch, in his measured way, is calling them out for ironically having a hissy fit. Biden especially, with his history of attacks on Conservative judicial nominees, including Blacks and women, is dismissed as condescending, which is exactly true. I watched the Clarence Thomas confirmation outtakes and Biden was treating Thomas as if he were a dope. It was disgusting.
Of course Kamala will go on the attack as she did with Kavanaugh. She will put on a good show. It will get her nowhere. In the end, it won't even get them many more votes. Anyone that doesn't know that Trump will appoint Conservative judges at this point is too stupid to vote. All the dem votes concerned about judicial appointments are already baked in.
It's going to be a wild October but that was already a given.

My neighborhood is filled with Amy McGrath signs. Unlike some female congresscritters and senators (Cortez, Tlaib, Hirono) I don't doubt that she loves her country. She is a Marine and a pilot, but her political views are too left for me. I don't really like Cocaine Mitch, but I'll vote for him. If the Dems take the Senate, that would be a terrible thing indeed.

If they insist on a black female, which seems to be the goal, we can offer Candace Owens and really watch the moon howlers go at it.

Repeating #3, above, the 'hysterical angst', or what we used to call, 'screaming hissy fits' in my 5-yr old children, is all the dems have. Given their lack of facts or a cogent and rational platform, the only thing they have left is the histrionic tantrums of adolescent spoiled brats.
They all need to be put in 'time-out' until they can calm down enough to stop screaming, spitting, and kicking, and have a rational discussion.

If the GOP doesn't screw this up like they ALWAYS do and the next Supreme gets the up votes out of the Senate before the election, we can be "whelmed" for once. However, like everything else the feckless wonders accomplish, I ain't holding my breath. The only courage Mr. McConnell possesses is on President Trump's coat tails.

Considering the fact that the Democrats have used "hearings" exclusively for slander and character assassination, and that all of the potential nominees have recently been vetted and approved for their current positions, Mr. McConnell would do well to forgo yet another disgraceful "hearing."

Leader McConnell has learned how to win Trump style. Good for him. He scores an A+ on all of his judicial confirmations.

I wish with all my heart WE could avoid another Justice Kavanaugh episode... but it seems the republicans haven't the courage to just vote without a senate photo op...it will drag on and on... let's hope mcconnel has the courage to shut it down when it gets ugly...

I would not mind hearing that 'splaining as well. But trust Biden to goof it up. I think if Trump's nominees have already been vetted by the Senate for their current positions, I agree with OP, go right for the vote. The hearings are only to let the democrats demagogue and bloviate for their audience. I seriously doubt that much will have changed about their judicial style.

Mac is a wily codger and will see the process through to a happy conclusion. A conservative court will afford a great deal of protection against the dims' likely nonsense. Trump promised and Trump delivered, as per usual. Now let's get that landslide in November.

McConnell just ruined the Democrat strategy by getting out in front of it. Now it will be embarrassing for them to do exactly what he predicted. They are huddled as we speak trying to come up with Plan B.

Rush did a great job yesterday explaining why Mitch can't suppress all debate and go straight to the vote: It would appear that Trump's pick had something to hide. I do hope that Mitch can at least keep the Dim's attack time to a minimum.

Mitch is secondary...who's the Judiciary Committee chairman? Oh, Lindsey "Send me $20" Graham...one must always wonder what he's up to. willing to do to help his friends across the aisle. Maybe the election (his own) has his backbone steeled...

This hearing will be like Super Bowl 48, where Seattle deciphered Denver's play calling and were prepared to respond to every play, resulting in a 43 - 8 blowout. The Rats have been running the same playbook ad nauseum for over 30 years now, to the point where the GOP already knows what the Rats are going to try and pull. McConnell has already shown he is prepared to respond to their every ploy. Me personally, I want to see the hearings go on, at least for a few days. the California Mattressback is on the Judiciary Committee, and I think the entire country would benefit from witnessing her behave like a total buffoon right before the election.

Yes, Ol’ Fingers lecturing a woman on women’s rights. Kinda like how he’s also tried to whitesplain “blackness” to actual black people.

@#8 - If the hearings can be screwed up Lindsey Graham will do it. He promised 3 days of testimony. That means the GOP will relent and it'll be at least five.
