Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) supports a Senate vote on President Trump’s forthcoming Supreme Court nominee, he announced Tuesday morning.“My decision regarding a Supreme Court nomination is not the result of a subjective test of ‘fairness’ which, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder,” Romney said in a statement. “It is based on the immutable fairness of following the law, which in this case is the Constitution and precedent.”He echoed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) in noting that the “historical precedent of election year nominations is that the Senate generally does not confirm an opposing party’s nominee but does confirm a nominee of its own.”

Somebody told him. Nice job you got here. Shame something should happen to it. Bottom line he hates Obama more than he hates Trump.

Maybe conservatives in Utah are tired of his political games and want him to support their values. Being a 70+ year old freshman Senator doesn't scare off potential challengers in a future primary.

The process is going forward. Senator Corey Gardner is on board. So far only Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins are weak kneed. Collins voter for Justice Cavanaugh.
Things are looking good for the President and for the United States.

Remember Mitch and NeverTrumper Republicans club there in DC cannot ignore something. They see rally after rally, in state after state, of intensely devoted President Trump voters. WTP will never ever forget if Senate Republicans mess up this historic opportunity to get this SC seat filled with
another conservative and do it quickly. We will not put up with the usual games of these outlier RINOs - not this time. Lamar and Lindsey get it. Thank you in advance Mitt for doing the right thing.

I'd like to believe there is one last shred of decency left in Mitt, but I just don't know. He's been so horrible these last few years.

Reports of recent polling show Mitt polling less popular in Utah than Donald Trump. Mitt will not become president in 2024 by adopting the Al Gore tactic of loosing his "home" state. Mitt can smell (but not drink) the coffee.

Saying what his constituents want to hear, shortly after saying what his supporters want to hear. Classic flip-flop, or by another name, the Massachusetts Two-Step.

Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have been doing a head count. So has Mitt Romney, Chuckie Schumer, and Nasty Nancy.
Trump and Mitch believe they have the votes. Mitt knows to lay low. Chuckie and Nancy only have hysterics.
Dems know they have to take back the Senate to get at Trump. Its easier to steal a Senate election than a Presidential election. The Republicans had best be on top of their game if they don't want that to happen.

Just saw his press Q&A in the Capitol hallway. First, he looks awful. He is ill or he has aged a lot or both. He may finally be under pressure to do the right thing for those who elected him. He has been a traitor to his constituents in Utah, who cannot all be global Wall Street types.

He says you confirm the nominee of your own party, but not the opposing party's. Deep down, Mitt is really not a Republcan, is he? I don't trust him as far as I can throw him.

Believe Utah has been one of the States who've pushed hardest for Roe v Wade to be overturned, so Mitt would be voting how his State would want.
There is no guarantee Roe will be overturned even if there's a 6-3 Republican nominated SCOTUS, and people should realize how many states have laws already in-place should Roe be overturned that would allow abortion. But, it would be back where it should be, with the individual States determining any restrictions or limits. Presumably, Virginia, who's governor talked about after birth abortion being an option in his state, would be among the states with the most expansive view.
