Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell vowed that a vote on President Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court would be held in the Senate and one key lawmaker just backed him up. McConnell secured a key swing vote in the upcoming Senate confirmation hearing of Trump’s nominee to fill the seat of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who passed away on Friday. Sen. Lamar Alexander agreed that the president should move forward with his nomination and said he is ready to vote ahead of November’s election.

I think all pubbie senators realize they had better vote, ahead of the election, for Trump's Supreme Count selection or they will be dead to all pubbie voters forever. Due to all the dim's cheating there is a good chance the election could end up in the SC.

If the 'Cocaine Turtle' pulls this off, I do believe I will have to reassess everything I ever thought of him. And right now I am really pulling for him and the Constitution.

The pick is in; DT just needed the time to work with Mitch on lining up support and refining the message of unity. All R senators will fall in line, and Mitch will provide cover for those currently pushing back.

President Trump will get his nominee confirmed before November 7 in spite of massive efforts to derail the process. It would be monumental mistake by Republican Senators not to confirm the President's nominee.

I'm suspect for those who say they'll vote, but don't indicate which way - e.g. Lamar.

I won’t go that far, #2. I have watched wily Mitch for a very long time. He knows that THIS time, if he lets RINO buddies of his screw this up, HIS Senate has a black mark from which they will never recover. HIS legacy is at stake. His major skillset is behind the scenes wheeler dealer. Thank God that this time, Mitch is using all those skills for the right reason ! I will pray for him to swiftly move forward and do whatever he must to get this done. THANK YOU most sincerely Mitch.

I am still worried that McConnell is using the "Paul Ryan Here's How We'll Keep the House in 2018" Playbook. He knew he had a tough slate in 2020 -- about 23 Republican seats and only 10 Democrat seats (which makes even more crucial the five or six seats that should have been won in 2018, 2016, and 2014).
I think we lose Colorado and pick up Alabama. Michigan is a possible win, especially if Pres Trump can pull the state. Arizona, Maine, and the Carolinas sets are iffy. There is little room for error, for both President Trump and the Senate races.
That being said, full steam ahead on this one!

Good news. Lamar is a lame duck, retiring and no fan of Trump.
Very good to hear.
There have been 19 cases of a President submitting a Supreme Court justice in an election year, when the Senate was controlled by the President's party. Of those 19 instances, 17 were confirmed. That is 89.5%. Very high historic probability of success in this mission.
We really have to have this justice in place. In fact, having another Constitutionalist on the SCOTUS may, just possibly, act as a deterrent to them trying to force this into the courts. If they are pretty sure that it will fail in a 5-4 Constitutionalist Supreme Court, they may not make the effort. But, they are literally howling mad, hysterical, unhinged, so expecting rational thought may be an error.
