Republican Senator Ted Cruz says President Donald Trump needs to nominate a successor Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg next week, and that the Senate should confirm that choice or the country risks a constitutional crisis.
“I believe that the president should, next week, nominate a successor to the court. I think it is critical that the Senate takes up and confirms that successor before Election Day,” Senator Cruz told Sean Hannity on Fox News.
“Democrats and Joe Biden have made clear they intend to challenge this election. They intend to fight the legitimacy of the election. As you you know Hillary Clinton has told Joe Biden

The best reason to name a successor so soon is that its another reason for the communists to have a conniption. They would do exactly the same thing under the same circumstances. The days of civil discourse and peaceful transition are over. They killed it. Now they can suffer the consequences. They and their anti-American ideology, as well as their festering corruption, can rot in the dung heap of history.

The Dems had their chance and they blew it....they knew RBG was in poor health, and she could have retired when Obama was still POTUS to insure a liberal justice would take her place. Facts are that she should have retired years ago (ref. falling asleep in SOTU speech).

The Most important reason to get a Republican confirmed before the Election is JOHN ROBERTS! If this Election goes the way we're thinking it will, with mail in Ballots appearing days after the Election is decided, the final say who wins will end up in front of the Supreme Court. We can not trust Robert to vote in favor of Republicans. Simple as that! We need another Republican Justice to cancel out his vote. Time and time again he has ruled with the Democrats on the Court. Think Obamacare! Nope! Trump and McConnell had better get things in motion Today! Make a Decision on the Nominee and run with it. Democrats are going to have a monumental Hissy Fit, but who cares. We know if the shoe were on the other foot, they wouldn't hesitate to do the same thing!

A 4-4 court is workable if you have honest, unbiased and qualified justices who actually follow the guidance of the Constitution. When people are more concerned about killing babies, the priviliges of one race over another, what everybody does with their sexual organs and womens rights over peoples rights, you have chaos. Obama's appointees are inferior, unqualified and can be bought. So is Roberts.

Very sound reasoning by Sen. Cruz. The democrats have thrown down the gauntlet. It is time to pick it up. They have openly admitted that they intend to contest the election and we must protect the Republic from a possible constitutional crisis. We need nine Justices on the Court now more than ever. God help the contrarian Republicans to understand the critical and dangerous situation ahead. The Republic is being tested like never before and we must get this right.

Here's what I've never understood - - - -
The Supreme Court justices are supposed to be outstanding legal scholars. They are supposed to be experts in the origins, details, and meaning of the Constitution. So - - shouldn't all of these brilliant legal minds agree unanimously on most cases? Shouldn't nearly every case be decided 9-0 - - or perhaps 8-1 or 7-2?
Then why are most of the significant cases decided 5-4 - - with every justice's vote predictable nearly every time - - predictable by us simple lay folks who never studied the law? The easy and obvious answer - - the leftist justices are not brilliant legal minds. They are political hacks - - who vote the straight leftist, socialist line on every case.
Most cases are crystal-clear from a legal standpoint. Honest, educated justices would agree on nearly all of them. But demonrat presidents never fail to nominate leftist political hacks to sit on the court.

John Roberts has been clearly been compromised. There are rumors about his sexual orientation and reports of a "John Roberts" on the Lolita flight logs. Of course, it's a common name, but the people on these flights were not commoners.
Others are saying it's the improper/illegal way he adopted his kids, but that doesn't add up. No one is going to be able to take away his kids, has to be something more sinister.
I am still undecided, but something clearly happened.

FTA: "...particularly when there is such a risk of…a contested election.”
No. A "contested election" is what we're having now: Candidates are nominated. They put themselves before the American people in an orderly fashion. We decide, we vote, the losing side concedes, and the winner assumes office.
What the Democrats are talking about is an anti-election insurrection. They are saying they only have to respect our elections when they win. And far too many are saying that they will riot if they lose. They are talking about attacking our democratically government. They are talking sedition and planning treason.
There is no point in talking democracy with traitors bent on destroying it. I understand that shooting rioters right now may put our electoral prospects in jeopardy, and that we need to be patient until the possibility of a disasterous defeat at the polls is behind us.
But if they riot on election night -- if they attempt to nullify my vote throughout violence -- we need to stop talking and start fighting back. We are under no obligation to let domestic enemies destroy our democracy. If the cops and the courts won't protect our Constitution, we must.
The men who wrote our Constitution ensured that we would have arms so that we could bear them in its defense when the time came.
That time will come the day after the polls close and the minute a mob forms to attack the outcome.

The snag are the RINOs, as always who are Murkowsky, Collins and now Romney. Murkowsky already said she not vote for a replacement until AFTER the election. Now Ginsberg has faced her final judge, but these three think they are above the law.

2) WWJRD (What will Justice Roberts do if the election goes to the Supreme Court?)
Ergo, do it. And do it now.

The President has the right to name Supreme Court justices and he should. After that, it falls to the Senate to approve. They can or they can't. Their choice.
Trump will nominate someone next week --- no doubt about it. Let it play out and let's see who really is a Republican and who isn't.
Does anyone really think if the tables were turned, UpChuck Schumer would hold back?

Yeah, Billary and the dims have already played their card. They intend to litigate the election results to the SCOTUS. If Roberts wasn't such a political weasel, a 4 - 4 court could still work. But, he has sold out the country too many times. But, what to do with Collins and Pierre Delecto.
Sen. Cruz sees it right. Pubbies, take the election challenge away from the dims and complete the confirmation hearing now for the sake of the country so that a hung court is no longer possible. And I don't care if antifa/blm thugs lay siege on DC in an attempt to disrupt the process. Soros, Steyer, Bloomberg, and the msm can go stuff it.
Personally, I don't mourn Ginsburg's passing. I'll leave that for her family to do. As #6 points out, Ginsburg had every opportunity to retire in somewhat better health when Obie was pres. But, she didn't and couldn't. She was all in for the dim party. Right to the end.

Senator Cruz is exactly right. I think he sees what is coming.
The rest of us need to realize that the progressive move to overthrow our Constitutional Republic is not
something new. It began over a century ago and we are seeing the end game revealed.
The message to the Progressive insiders in 2008 was Obama's promise to "fundamentally change America." Most of us thought he just meant a surge of typical left spending, etc. The real message was, "It is time for the end game to begin."
Many wondered why, in 2002, Obama took his whole presidential entourage to the small Kansas city of Osawatomie, Kansas (less than 5000 population) to formally announce his run for reelection. The reason: Osawatomie is the site of Teddy Roosevelt's "The New Nationalism" speech which launched his run to return to the presidency as the first Progressive Party candidate. He lost, but split the "republican" vote, enabling Woodrow Wilson to defeat Taft, who would have likely won. [Much like H. Ross Perot's third party effort gave 1992 to Bill Clinton] Wilson was clearly the worst president before Obama.
The venue for the 2012 announcement was a clear message to progressive insiders.
So was Hillary's primary campaign debate assertion, "I consider myself a Modern Progressive."
We had all better brush on the term "Color Revolution." Has nothing to do with race. - It is a specific game plan to effect "regime change" by challenging the result by violence in the streets.
Obama's presidency was conducted as what Latin Americans refer to as an Auto-Golpe or "self-stroke." Gain office through the constitutional election process, then effective overthrow from within the system you were elected to by simply ignoring the constitution's provisions.
Hillary was going to be the completion of the process, and they were so sure they were going to win that they didn't bother to cover their tracks.
The real reason they hate President Trump is not his tweets, his plain talk or his hair style. It is his steps to unleash the economic engine of a free capitalist American Constitutional Republic. The public was beginning to realize how progressive policies have held it back and what could have been all along. Another four years, without socialists in the House fighting to make the economy fail, could convince the electorate.
The damage that a loss to the left in November will result in is unthinkable. It is almost certain that the intentional sabotage of the election result, especially if blue state governors send false electors to vote the opposite of their state's popular vote, will certainly be taken to Supreme Court. A tie vote would effectively be the same as the Court declining to hear the case.
Senator Cruz is right. It is absolutely essential that a full, functional Court be available in time to deal with it.
The Progressives are at the make or break moment in their fight to effectively eliminate the Constitution.
We simply must see that it is "break."

With all of the shenanigans that the dims have planned we need a fully-locked-and-loaded SCOTUS to confront them.
And, of course, if the dims had both the white house and the senate now they would have made their nomination before RBG's body had cooled. And you wouldn't have been down with the activist, politically-correct person they would have named. In fact, you would be shrieking in horror.

The prospect of President Trump vs Fingers Biden nominating Ginsburg's replacement intensely focuses this election. This development somewhat diminishes the focus on the economy and the China virus. It should motivate more conservative folks to get out and vote for Trump, even if they don't appreciate his demeanor. It will greatly motivate the dems to get out the vote and--possibly--find ways to cheat, particularly in swing states, especially in Pennsylvania.
Whether President Trump nominates a successor now or after the election, I pity the poor nominee--likely Judge Amy Conan Barrett--who will be pushed through this meat grinder in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Kamala Harris will be in full hateful, vicious form.

God is on Our side. The USA is too important to extinguish its leadership of Western Civilization. Now the election will not be about hatred of Donaldus Maximus. It will be about his achievements: justices, peace and prosperity, oil, guns, Wall, manufacturing, China, USMCA, strength, and the restoration of American history.
God is good.

It's time for the Republicans in the Senate to be 100% united on the selection of the next Supreme Court Justice. Any Republican Senator that votes against confirmation needs to be voted out of office or treated as though they have the plague by their Republican colleagues.

@23-in looking at the members of the Judiciary committee I truly don't know how many are in contested election situations. I would suspect that the Dems seats are pretty safe. Since it will be really short on substance and long on BS like with Kavanaugh, I think the advantage for Pubbies will be the public seeing these same Dems give the new nominee the same treatment afforded Kavanaugh which will further turn voters away from the Dems and toward the Republicans. Harris in particular will be the key for the Dems since she is the nominal mouthpiece for Biden and would be tied up in the hearing to do her campaigning there.
