The University of Oxford's Pitt Rivers Museum has removed a collection of shrunken heads on display over concerns that they "reinforced racist and stereotypical thinking." On Monday, the acclaimed museum shared in a statement that visitors will see a number of "contentious displays" removed from its exhibits when its doors reopen to the public on Sept. 22. (Snip) While the heads have been one of the museum's most popular attractions since the 1940s, museum director Laura Van Broekhoven said that many visitors found the remains as "a testament to other cultures being ‘savage’, ‘primitive’ or ‘gruesome'." Orwell was a bloody genius, #1. It's amazing how perceptive and relevant his writings about the left are after so many decades.

Blacks caught and killed and shrunk the heads of their "enemies". They even cooked and ate them. African blacks sold other African blacks to European slave traders. Free Blacks in America owned slaves, black slaves. Get a grip, deal with it. Grow up. There are so many ignorant people running around thinking they are fonts of wisdom. If you cannot deal with our past, good and bad, seek therapy. But do not seek to cancel the reality of the world.

Can't have the truth about the way Africans lived just 50 or so years ago getting out, can we?

Hate to break it to them, but the truth hurts. They should check out how the plains Indians treated each other even before whitey came along. Hint, it wasn't very nice.

Anyway, the heads were all created many years before 1619. Probably in Germany or Russia.

Cannibals and headshrinkers are potential Democrat voters when they sneak across our borders, so we mustn't offend them. Plus, if you believe the current conspiracy theories, many of the elite Illuminati types running the Deep State actually are cannibals and just may have wanted the shrunken heads for their private collection of new ones...

Come to think of it, the head hunters were in New Guinea and Borneo, weren't they? Not Africa.

Other cultures:
The Comanche had a saying: "If it's good to kill you enemy, it's better to kill him slowly." See any biography of Cynthia Ann Parker.
After our Civil War many out of work Black soldiers went west to become Buffalo Soldiers and kill many Native Americans in over to protect White's westward expansion. They were known as Buffalo Soldiers because the Native Americans noted that Blacks' hair resembled the hair on a buffalo's hump. The Blacks accepted the name with pride, much as the US Marines have been known as Teufel Hunden.

#10, the article clearly states that they are from South America. The Houston museum of natural science has a couple that used to be displayed prominently. I found them fascinating. But the older I get the more sad I think of them being displayed for anyone to gawk at. These were human beings, not deer heads or butterflies under glass. I'd prefer a photo display to portray the cultural practice, not some poor guy's actual head.

#12, yes, they were some person's actual head and face. But, ultimately, they managed to achieve a sort of immortality of, at least their face, that most of us will never have.

In an effort to portray Central American culture in a more positive the museum is replacing the shrunken head exhibit with an exhibit of MS13 gang weapons and tattoo artwork.

I knew a man who lived for a while among natives of New Guinea. He was there to chart territory after WWII to begin mineral development. He told me of the tribal practice of killing the old when they became unproductive. The tribe would send the elder to a paddy with word to a nearby tribe that the euthenasia was to take place. The members of that tribe would behead the 'paddy man', shrink the head, and hang it in their lodge as an 'honored guest.' Fact. Why hide that?
