There are 53 GOP Senators. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will need 50 votes to confirm a new Supreme Court Justice, with Vice President Mike Pence standing by to break any tie.
One GOP Senator, Lisa Murkowski from Alaska has already signaled today that she will not vote to confirm any new Supreme Court Justice until after Inauguration Day in January. That means Cocaine Mitch can only endure two more defections and still be able to confirm a new Supreme Court Justice.
In my view, the following Senators are solid votes to confirm pretty much any nominee sent to the Senate by Pres. Trump in the next 45 days: John

He only needs 50. President of the Senate Mike Pence would be the decider.

He will have at least 50 votes. Collins, Murkowski will vote no or abstain. A no vote from Romney would be sheer spite. We'll see if he's really a Republican. The other Republicans will vote yes.

Cory Gardner, you are in a very tight race with former dim and deep stater John Hickenlooper. You want to be re-elected? If yes, vote to confirm, bro.

What Republican is going to bother to roll out of bed on election day and vote for Collins if she votes no on this nomination. She's toast in her election if she doesn't go along with Trump.

He has to get new justice approved. The disappointed snowflakes on the other side will curl up in a fetal position and not recover in time to vote.

Murkowski is derelict. She's shirking the duty of being a U.S. Senator. No one ever said that being a U.S. Senator was easy and that it wouldn't involve making difficult decisions. She campaigned for the responsibility
If she doesn't want to do the work of a U.S. Senator, she shouldn't be there. It's like Truman said, "if you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen!

This confirmation should take 14 or less days. We are not going to endure another Kavanaugh fiasco. As for the threats from the left: they are going to murder us, put us in jail, or never speak to us again. They are already doing that, and will not stop, no matter what, so we can ignore the threats.

these aristocrats in the senate are like the people a guy once described to me, years ago. it goes like this: you could give everyone of them an Ex-Lax at the same time and just to spite you don't expect them to relieve themselves at the same time. there has been entirely too much importance placed on the members of the senate. they can and are very often replaced without prejudice, by the people.

I wish Palin would run against Murkowski and get this waffling, pain in the behind, narcissistic grand standing RINO out of Washington. She's worse than 0bama with her look at me, me, me!

Any Republican - read RINO, who dares to betray the Truth for forty pieces of silver is looking at political oblivion. IMO in the end there will be 53 votes. Now make sure it is Amy Barrett and get it done before Nov 3.

We will be subjected to another inquisition by Kamala Harris, who will find a last-minute witness who will testify falsely and slander the nominee. And you can count on Hirono to pile on, with vigor. It will be Anita Hill all over again. Or the squeaky voice with the smudged glasses.
World's greatest deliberative body, indeed. If they were in a room with only one door, they would not know how to leave the room.

OK< before I read the piece.....
My persona list RINO Senators in the order of LEAST trust, most likely to stab us in the back, just for the fun of it.
Murky Murkowski
Susan Collins
Pierre Romney
Lamar Alexander
Richard Burr
and I probably missed some.
After reading the piece:
Sounds reasonable to me, I had forgotten that Gardner was even called a Republican. The author seems to think that Alexander and Burr will go for a Constitutionalist nominee, even though they despise Trump. I hope his analysis is accurate. Pins and needles until this is done and the new Justice is sworn in.
Think about it. If this Justice is sworn in, Trump has 3 SCOTUS judges in his first term. In his second term (praying) he could appoint one, two or even three more. THAT would be incredibly good news.

Be very careful here. Timing is critical because Martha McSally (AZ) was APPOINTED, not elected. In a Special Election to determine who will serve the last 2 years of her term, she is running double-digits behind Mark Kelly (Gabby Gifford's astronaut husband). If Kelly wins as predicted, he could be sworn in and seated by NOV 30 and be the Democrat Senator who blocks McConnell's plan to confirm a new replacement for RBG.

Murkowski can kiss good by any plan she has for re-election if she does not vote for this nominee. Hopefully, the Voters in Alaska will be e-mailing her with that message! The rest of those who might think of saying no also have to worry about a re-election down the road. Voters have VERY long memories. Anyone voting no will be voted out at their next primary! I would bet my house on it!!

How can any self respecting person know how they are going to vote before they know who the nominee is? Thats why we are in such trouble. The communists will all vote no no matter who it s, and the republicans will all vote yes. What if the nominee is unacceptable? Too bad. You already committed to being a party hack.

Don't forget to thank Harry Reed for going nuclear. He was warned, and now it's come back to bite the Dems 3 x's. Thank God and God bless President Donald John Trump.

Murkowski is still a goose egg. Mittsky says he will vote but no indication as to whether it would be for or against a Trump nominee. SWC speculates about Thom Tillis. Then tosses these into the arena - analyzes which way they might go and why: Joni Ernst, Martha McSally, Mitt Romney, Richard Burr, Lamar Alexander, Susan Collins, and Cory Gardner. At the end he tosses out the perennial wild card from WV.
