Republican Maine Sen. Susan Collins is down five points to her Democratic challenger Sara Gideon, a poll released Friday shows.According to a New York Times-Siena College poll, Collins is behind Gideon 44 percent to 49 percent with less than two months before the November 3 elections. The poll did however show that 50 percent of voters view Collins very favorable or somewhat favorable compared to 47 percent who did not feel the same, The Hill reported.(Photo) The poll is one of the latest showing bad signs for Republican’s hopes to maintain control of the Senate. Too bad Ms Collins couldn’t be a REAL Republican! A weak Republican is always vulnerable to a strong democrat.

I suggest if she wants to win ... ask President Trump to campaign for her....she won’t!

Well, wasn't she the deciding vote that got Judge Kavanaugh confirmed to the Supreme Court? The real problem in races all over the country, is the enormous amount of money people like Soros and Bloomberg and Steyer are pouring into Democratic coffers.

Collins is probably the best Republicans can do from Maine. But elsewhere there are very weak candidates...Tillis, Gardener, McSally and Ernst all in trouble and horrible candidates. It will be a disaster to lose the Senate.

She is needed only to add one more "R" to result in republican control of the senate. Beyond that, her actual votes and the drama leading up to how that would be, qualified her for the John McCain Maverick Award.

Because she is up for re-election, Collins will not vote for any Supreme Court nominee put up by President Trump.

While Collins is not my favorite Republican I don’t think the polling is accurate. Only 633 people were contacted and they didn’t indicate if any Republicans were contacted. The Gideon ads have been vicious and she’s been pulling in outside money from some questionable groups. She’s a terrible leader of the state senate. With all the people moving into ME from NYC, MA,CT, etc. we are inheriting more dems and it’s going to make this state another CA. Sigh.

Hey Susan! If you want more support from your base then VOTE TO CONFIRM TRUMP'S NOMINEE. Be a strong Republican for a change and think of 'what you can do for your country'.

My memory is that she's always in some trouble in the polls, or certainly recently. But she wins. The Dems are out for her for two major crime: supporting Kavaugh; and voting Not Guilty in the stupid impeachment trial.

Graham will win again in SC too. Harrison has his mouth glued to Pelosi’s bony arse and that won’t fly here.

Every pol up for re-election will be subject to vote harvesting. It's going to be wild. Well, the Bible predicted it and it sure doesn't surprise God.

I think Collins will win. She will pick up the independent vote and some Democrats, too, probably. It's never easy to unseat an incumbent, so she has that advantage, too.

she is one of the most ineffective members of that branch of congress. her deficit in her poll numbers is all due to her not linking herself to our duly President Donald J. Trump. too bad because, like paul ryan, she could have been a significant force for the good of our country, instead she votes with nitwit romney and some of the other naysayers who disavow our President. DJT will figure it out, he always has.

it doesn't help when Collins doesn't put enough daylight between herself and her opponent. It alienates the base, and the people she is wooing don't see any real difference. There are likely real issues she could campaign on in Maine like jobs and the economy, but she is too busy trying to look like a Democrat.
There is also a fed seat opening, and she is opposing Trump's nomination. Not sure we should trust the poll. Can imagine the NY Times wants to make sure she doesn't flip at the last minute.

If Collins wants to win, here is how. Support Trump's nominee for the SCOTUS. That will get her re-elected.
