Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) led a group of Democratic senators to call for the National Rifle Association (NRA) Foundation to be immediately removed from the list of charities eligible to solicit and receive contributions from federal employees on Friday. Twelve senators, including Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), wrote a letter to the head of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), Michael Rigas, requesting the NRA Foundation be removed during the Combined Federal Campaign’s (CFC) annual fundraising drive, set to begin Sept. 21. The letter follows the lawsuit from the New York attorney general seeking to dissolve the powerful pro-gun interest group announced last month.

Don't you just love the Dems - so Fed employees don't really enjoy First Amendment rights? The courts have clearly recognized that political (or otherwise) donations are a form of free speech. This entire Party is malevolent and fascist to its heart.

How would he know and why should he care what federal employees do off the clock? I’m sure there’s a lot of fed workers who are members of the NRA. This bill needs a quick death.

Menendez and Schumer are a little small for the pants they think they can wear! Dweebs need to be shut down. As other posters have said, that's blatant discrimination. That's so tyrannical! You can only contribute to the liberal causes? Totally unconstitutional! But then again, I don't think they've ever read the Constitution.
MAGA!!! KAG!!! TRUMPS 2020 AND BEYOND!!! Throw these two out of office and the rest of their little dogs, too!

If a law was past forbidden senators such as Bob Menendez from giving money to ladies of the evening he find that it was unconstitutional. I don't give money to the NRA. I saw Wayne LaPierre's salary and decided he didn't need any of my money.

Where was all this angst during Obama/Biden administration, when Federal employees were openly supporting Democrats and were going after the conservatives? Lois Lerner anyone?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think the NRA is considered a charity. Thus, there is no tax deduction for contributions. Nonetheless, it is none of perv Menendez’ and the other rats business if federal employees donate to the NRA Foundation.

So I, the federal employee who actually believes in the constitution must now give 500 bucks to my brother in law for his birthday. If he decides to send it to the NRA, well it's his money isn't it. How is it these people think they're so smart.

There are 6,432 organizations listed in CFC giving guide on the OPM site.
https://cfcgiving.opm.gov/offerings. Select all zones and peruse some of the organizations.
Used to provide a book that was hundreds of pages long, now all on the web. This campaign is the primary authorized campaign across the government.
Charities are big moneymakers, ppl involved no longer low pay and limited benefits doing its for altruistic reasons.

So its okay for democrats to Hoover up all the donations for their party exclusively? I guess their money machine is in danger of being derailed now that even the bureaucracy just might like Trump.

There are two entirely separate and distinct "NRA" legal entities that these idiots are probably unaware of. Very different.
The NRA-ILA, is the National Rifle Association - Institute for Legislative Action. This entity collects funds and distributes them to political candidates running for elective office.
The NRA Foundation is entirely separate, and collects money to be spent on charitable giving to support the shooting sports, police training and shooting safety education. The NRA Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization and contributions are tax deductible.
The NRA-ILA contributions are not tax deductible, they are basically political contributions.

Sorry Comrade Menedez, but Fed employees have 1st & 2nd Amendment rights too....and they can even be (gasp!) members of The NRA. Where do these little freaking Nazi's get these insane notions of who and what they can tell people to do with their private lives? Here's a great big bronx cheer for you, Bob, right HERE.

The CFC should not bel allowed. Government employees are prohibited from participating in political things on government property. This gives the government employee unions an opportunity to influence where their employees should direct their donations to help push the unions agenda. A lot of these "charitys" are just big lobbying groups (like the NRA, Planned Parenthood, PETA, Greenpeace) who will use the donations to push for their agenda. If employees want to donate, they can do it on their own, without union pressure.
