Parents and students at a high school in Dallas are outraged after a school assignment called 'Hero for the Modern Age' named Kenosha gunman Kyle Rittenhouse. The assignment was given to seniors in an English class at W.T. White High School in Dallas, Texas, and had two parts; first asking students to write a biography for the six people listed and then asking them to write a one-page essay on which of those six people they believed best demonstrated the concept of a hero. Activist Malcolm X and Mahatma Gandhi were among those listed as people to chose from, alongside Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old who shot and killed

What did George Floyd ever do that was heroic? Dying from an O.D. does not count.

I think it was quite an insightful assignment. I also think the teacher was trying the magician's trick where you force a certain conclusion. Here's my assessment: Mahatmas Gandhi: of the listed, the most heroic. Had his opponent been any other European POwer of the day, he and his followers would have been a sad bloodstain on history. Only the decency of the British Empire let him get away with his brand of Activism. Cesar Chavez: An insane murderous monster who tortured his victims for hours before killing them. Preferred to victimize young men. I could never understand why anyone EVER considered this maniac a hero. Malcom X: In some ways, a Muslim Martin Luther King. I lived through the time he was around and never caught on to why he was so highly considered. Read the Wiki before writing this, as a review and I'm still of the same opinion. He still comes across as a bigoted Racist thug, and not much else. I prefer Dr. King. George Floydd: Really? This one was to get knee jerk reactions from people who didn't recognize the other names. Floydd was a two bit criminal who essentially committed suicide by the ingestion of too many dangerous drugs. All the evidence denies he was 'killed by police'. Maybe, barely, the police contributed to his death by not recognizing he was dying, and getting help faster. His last living act was trying to pass obviously counterfeit money. His legacy? He was the spark that let the Democrats distract everyone who was getting a clue about the CORONA virus. Shop keepers can't complain about not being open if their sho is a pile of ashes... Kyle Rittenhouse: I don't see him as a hero, but a victim. 17 year old goes to Kenosha to help people, and does so for several hours. He's armed because, hey! people are being attacked despite the media and democrats yakking about 'mostly peaceful protests'. Sort of like a girl being slightly pregnant. He tried to put out a dumpster fire and several idiots saw how young he was and thought they could take his gun and kill him. They were wrong and paid the price. He's a victim partly because of parental stupidity bringing him there, but mostly because the Democrats are tyrannical thugs looking for a scapegoat. He saved his life, for now. Wouldn't surprise me if the local Dems tried to lynch him, as he becomes more obviously innocent of their charges the deeper anyone looks into the mess. Joseph Rosenbaum: The first thug to close with Rittenhouse - a convicted pedophile if I recall the record correctly. Definitely by any reasonable standard, NOT a hero. If I had been there and he had tried what he tried, he'd be just as dead, even without knowing what he was. Hero? Don't make me laugh.

#2 - You described Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. Perhaps you should have used Wikipedia for Cesar Chavez. He organized the legal Mexican farm workers into their first union. He led the infamous grape boycott in California and forced the growers to the bargaining table. He was a lefty and did some good things for the migrants, but his union was later taken over by the commies.

It's just hard to imagine saying Kyle's name and that thug/druggie Floyd's name in the same sentence with "hero." Kyle's is the only one who belongs.

Sorry I had a brain fart. I was thinking Che Guevera of Cuba. I have no real issues with Cesar Chavez. In fact I had literally forgotten about him, which shows what part of the country I come from. Considering the attitudes of the day, and how the Democrats ran that part of the country, i would have to say he was pretty heroic. Thete are a few things I don't like about him, but I have issues with Trump, too, yet respect and support him.
