Does Jesus want you to own a gun? It’s a question Richard Berry said he wrestled with for years, unsure of how to match his Christian faith with his appreciation for firearms and self-defense. A native of Olathe, Kansas, he told Religion News Service he began grappling with the issue of God and guns in earnest following a 2017 shooting incident near his house. In February of that year, Srinivas Kuchibhotla and Alok Madasani, both Indian, were enjoying after-work drinks at Austins Bar and Grill when a man named Adam Purinton began to yell and pepper them with questions about

When Christ was arrested one of his disciples whipped out a sword and cut off a soldier's ear. His disciples had been with him for three years and I suspect that Jesus might have said something to discourage carrying one if he was concerned. The sword was the gun of that era!

THE CHURCH has an opinion on the question. I am certain that the Church did not seek the advice of the Associated Press for the opinion. And there just happens to be about 2,000 years worth of study in the definitive.

Considering 2020 America and the Democrat War on Christianity, He'd probably insist upon it.

We don't have to guess. He said it in Luke 22:36: “Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.”

If a person is against having and using a gun for self defense, they have no business calling a police officer to help them when they are being threatened if the cop has a gun and will use it. In their case, the police can come to their home with chalk and a body bag.

#3: and Jesus formed a whip using ropes in the temple.
Peter wasn’t aiming for the guy’s ear. He was trying to take his head off. Because he was a bad swordsman and the other guy ducking was why this story’s outcome was different, imo.

Helps to remember that Christians struggle with the ethics of self defense while Jihadis / Marxists / Nutters / Criminals and Gangstas feel entitled to mount an armed offense whenever it serves.
Personally......my guardian angels have recently manifested as a pair of big sloppy, stinky blood-hounds.....and if you don't act right......they won't leave me much to shoot at.
God is good to me that way.

Not sure what God wants but I know for a fact that in a pinch He tends to put those stacked-up prayers on hold and this can be fatal.
My first ex-wife stopped an intruder coming into our apartment by shouldering my rifle, cycling a round and saying "one more step and I'll blow your [blanking] guts out.
We had lived there for exactly one day; the intruder was a neighbor with a stolen key. You might've seen this guy a few times on previous McDonalds and Chuck E Cheese posts.
I was working a local gig, the phone had not yet been installed. Second storey and she couldn't risk passing this slimeball's apartment door to get down the stairs and out.
I come loping up the sidewalk and my wife is waving at me from the second story window signaling me to call the police.
This was Des Moines in the early-mid 80s; I was a recording touring drummer. Otherwise I would've been somewhere else but I really like Des Moines, actually.
The police come and it turns out -- tada! -- they already know this guy. They told us the next time he comes over go ahead and shoot him. True. They went next door and told the slimeball the same thing.
We split that day and never returned. This is 100% true and this is why I'm not overly concerned if The Old Man wants me to have a gun or not.

Good answers and examples here.
Thank you, #s 3 & 6. Two excellent examples among many scriptures showing us that self defense is authorized.
When Peter cut off the ear of Malchus, the servant of the high priest, Jesus told Peter to put his sword away. He didn’t tell him to get rid of it. He was simply indicating that there is a time, place and reason for the use of force. Christ’s time had come to fulfill His purpose, and surrender Himself a sacrifice for our salvation.
Prayer and faith and trust in God should always come first, and not only trust in the things He has provided for our well-being, protection and safety. But, just as the use of force was authorized for the apostles, it is so for us. We have what we have for our well-being because of His providence. We are told to be wise as serpents. There are obviously many “serpents” among us. God bless and be with us if, or when, the time comes for the use of force to protect and defend ourselves, our families and our country.
Pray without ceasing. Prayer is our most powerful weapon. God is always our power behind any weapon we may have to use.

The Book of Ester in the Old Testament is about an unjust "law", orchestrated by an occult liar, declaring open season on the lives of all of God's people. Their version of the 2-nd Amendment is the only thing that saved them. Read it yourself!

Does not he who guards your life know it?

Three points:
First: AssPress on Christianity is like a pig explaining partial differential equations. Nothing will be learned of any value from either.
Second:
Luke wrote that Jesus said to the disciples, as he was about to be arrested, and would no longer be protecting them, " ...if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one."
Third:

The Catholic Catechism on self defense: Legitimate defense
2263 The legitimate defense of persons and societies is not an exception to the prohibition against the MURDER of the innocent that constitutes intentional killing. "The act of self-defense can have a double effect: the preservation of one's own life; and the killing of the aggressor. . . . The one is intended, the other is not."65. (Emphasis added)
The fifth commandment says "thou shalt not MURDER." Killing in self defense is NOT murder. It is a completely different act. Killing with the intent to destroy an innocent, defenseless person is MURDER. But the Ass. Press has no problem with abortion, which is ALWAYS indefensible!! Satan is truly the ruler of the Democrat Party!! And obviously the ruler of the Ass. Press.

In ancient times, Christians were most prevalent amongst the slaves, and Christ based many of his lessons in the point of view a subjugated people could understand. He pointed out that one should not be arrogant or proud of being born in the 'right' family or position in life. While he stressed patience among neighbors and the brotherhood of the like minded, it was also made clear he held no animosity to the warrior. He only stopped Peter from defending him against the Priests and their soldiers with a sword, because it was necessary for him to fulfill the prophecies. But note Peter, and perhaps others among the disciples, were armed.
Satan and his kin know the Bible well. Recall how he debated with Jesus in the Desert? But Jesus rejected him.The writers at the AP want defenseless martyrs for their masters not warriors who defend their loved ones. The predator first seeks out the easy prey.
I love God and believe in His Son. I don't believe He wants me to be prey to these monsters of selfishness and evil. I will be prepared, and God save them, who try to disarm me, or prevent me from protecting my faith, my family, my friends, and my Country.

#33, the constitution is the supreme law in this Republic, and any lesser 'laws' which go against what it says are null and void, per a number of famous jurists of the past. The Second Amendment prohibits the government from affecting our possession and use of 'arms'. And tanks, fighter jets, destroyers, aircraft carriers, SAMs, mobile artillery, et al are all 'arms'. Now the commies(leftards) in government at all levels and their sympathizers don't like that, but remember when the second amendment was passed, colonists owned armed frigates, cannon, rifles, & etc, state of the art weapons of the time.

Don't be surprise how many are concealed carriers in your churche. In one Church I visited, the Answer was 40 + 1. The plus one was the minister. I know a minster who is retired and works part-time as clergy in our local church and he is a gunsmith. There are verses in the bible about being armed. There's nothing unchristian (IMO) about owning guns because you (A) Appreciate their craftsmanship and technology, and (B) Because you want to protect your family. It's only wrong if you want to use a gun to wantonly harm others or use it to commit crimes of any sort.
