With unemployment soaring, state lawmakers are considering ways to soften the blow from a major impending increase in the taxes employers pay toward the state’s unemployment system, a jump in costs that one business group described as a “pretty staggering.” With the unemployment insurance trust fund suddenly facing a multibillion-dollar deficit over the next four years, the contributions required from Massachusetts businesses are set to increase nearly 60 percent when the calendar turns to 2021 and then continue growing at a smaller rate through 2024. Those higher taxes -- estimated at an average of $319 more per qualifying employee

Makers versus takers. The takers have been taking double handfuls, and a lot of folks who normally are maker have been forced to be takers. So the makers will be paying a lot more.
Guess what? No free lunch, EVER.

Stinkin democrat governor of my state , Murphy , is not only forcing us to vote by mail, gasoline tax is going up, highway tolls going up, for those that smoke, cigarette tax going up by $ 2 per pack, he's going around our state constitution to borrow money , homestead rebate gone, senior tax freeze gone. That's all I know know for now. This weekend we did have a a very large boat turnout for Trump. South Jersey votes republican but the majority population lives in the northern part of the state and they vote dem. UGH !!!!

Yeah, make employers pay for government waste and abuse, as usual. This means less wage increases for workers. Meanwhile, business as usual for government workers. Have you Yankees had enough already?

You get the govt. you vote for.
MA voters don't seem to get it; they've been tainting NH for years as well.

Well of course they will. What political party ineptly "governs" most of the state. As for state residents, you elected them. Deal with it.

Wait until this onion reveals ALL it's many layers. UNemp Ins in Ma? No - EVERYwhere! Every state will need to increase it's rate - there were lots of rioters who traded in their paper hats for that $600 bump per WEEEEEEEKKKKK!!!!The Small Businesses that employed these heathens (and the rest of us) are funding their own demise and many will succumb to the destruction caused by either the rioters on unemp or their mayors, govs, or congressional reps. Oh. and every American that buys insurance of any kind will also be seeing increases. Home, auto, theft, etc. Heck, flood insurance will go up too. Just consider it pre-reparations. Heh heh heh, more to come! Do you get it yet?

The state forces employers to either shut down or lay people off (since they decide what's "non-essential"), then raises the taxes of the employers to pay for the unemployed. Yeah. That makes sense.

When have the people of Massachusetts NOT faced staggering tax hikes? I'm surprised that workers up there get a paycheck at all.
