After a steady rise in coronavirus cases, Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania has restricted students to their dormitories and moved all classes online in a sweeping quarantine that began Tuesday and will last at least through the end of the week. Gettysburg, which has more than 2,000 students enrolled, is believed to be the first U.S. college to enact such a measure. (Snip) Students aren't allowed to leave their rooms for things like doing laundry, exercising or taking out the trash. However, students with off-campus jobs are still able to go to those jobs, according to Gettysburg's website. All classes and

They're teaching students to be obedient to bureaucratic authority or be punished. Sounds like they are eager to comply.

The Biden campaign confirmed Wednesday that it was behind the removal of a Washington Redskins logo from a decades-old photograph of Joe Biden and his young son. The logo-less photo aired on CNN Monday night during a special called "Fight for the White House: Joe Biden's Long Journey." A campaign aide told Fox News the logo was removed from the photo because it is "copyrighted" and claimed that such a step is "a very common practice on campaigns." Washingtonian Magazine, citing a CNN source, first reported that the network had received the altered photograph from the Biden campaign. The source

Florida's Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, an ardent fan of President Donald Trump, may have outdone his hero by assembling a high court more conservative than the U.S. Supreme Court. Luckily for DeSantis, the three most liberal members of the Florida Supreme Court retired just as he took office in January 2019, allowing him to install conservative replacements. Then Trump elevated two of them to the federal appellate court in Atlanta and created two new openings for DeSantis to fill. Only one of the court's seven members, Justice Jorge Labarga, a Gov. With unemployment soaring, state lawmakers are considering ways to soften the blow from a major impending increase in the taxes employers pay toward the state’s unemployment system, a jump in costs that one business group described as a “pretty staggering.” With the unemployment insurance trust fund suddenly facing a multibillion-dollar deficit over the next four years, the contributions required from Massachusetts businesses are set to increase nearly 60 percent when the calendar turns to 2021 and then continue growing at a smaller rate through 2024. Those higher taxes -- estimated at an average of $319 more per qualifying employee

As many white-collar employers extend into next year the work-from-home policies they instituted in response to the coronavirus pandemic, a vast amount of vertical space in downtown Seattle is leased but empty. The vacant space amounts to more than 700 football fields, by one estimate — acres of desks, with knickknacks and mementos that few but cleaning staff, maintenance crews and interior landscapers have seen for nigh on six months. It’s not clear when workers might begin trickling back into that space or what could become of it in the meantime. “If anyone tells you they know what’s going to

For months now, it’s been clear that Joe Biden has been using a teleprompter for supposedly off-the-cuff campaign interviews and conversations. Since then there’s been a lot more evidence of Biden reading off a teleprompter, and rather poorly, even during interviews with the media. While appearing on Fox News on Thursday, Biden’s national press secretary, TJ Ducklo, had an opportunity to go on the record on this issue but refused. “Does Joe Biden ever use a teleprompter during local interviews or to answer Q&A with supporters?” Baier asked.
