Unrest following the police shooting of Jacob Blake left vehicles and businesses throughout the downtown Kenosha area badly damaged, including one local car dealer that estimates its losses in the millions. Car Source, a car dealer in the city, was attacked when a mob descended into its lot and begin smashing cars on the first night of unrest last Sunday. There was an explosion and subsequent fire that spread from one vehicle to the next, one resident told Kenosha News. “It was a terrifying time,” said Josie Rodriguez, who lives next to Car Source. “I thought, ‘Oh my god, they’re

Nothing honors the life Jacob Blake in living more than causing millions of dollars in damages to a minority-owned car dealership.

Sue the heck out of the city and the mayor. The city has an implied contract to provide protection to people and businesses when they pay taxes. Also, the mayor swears to uphold the law.

#5, unfortunately, "the city" is the taxpayers. The mayor and those responsible won't lose one red cent, even if the improbable suit were to win.

This is where the Dem mayors and governors are losing in a HUGE way. Normal average people, of all races, and all ethnicities EXPECT TO BE PROTECTED FROM CRIMINALS by the police.
This is not happening in Democrat run cities and it is really, really obvious and clear WHO is responsible and it is not the President of the United States.

Sorry #5 the city officials were elected by those taxpayers. Maybe if they suffer loss for their stupidity their kids will learn a valuable lesson and not vote as daddy did.

Silly Boy. Surely you didn't think all those taxes you paid would do something besides stuff the pockets of the political class ???
Vote Democrat AGAIN and see if it works better next time.

Can the city be sued for failing to protect property?

#11, there have been multiple cases that show that police departments have NO duty to protect any individual, and no matter how eggregious the situation, no kind of financial liability can be created. Well settled law, multiple cases, some are horrific, yet didn't move the needle.
I tend to doubt that the city is any different, and ultimately it is the cops who did the "not protecting" and if no liability not protecting people....probably less when it is "only property". In some cases people died horribly at the hands of kidnappers with multiple calls to police of screaming, etc. Cops arrived, asked if everything is OK, kidnapper says 'Sure, fine" and cops leave. Second call, they don't even come. Eventually the women are dead. Still no liability for the police. A car lot or store.....good luck. I won't bet you'd win even a dollar.

FTA: "Rodriguez....called 911, but dispatchers informed her the unrest made it unsafe for firefighters to come to the scene." It's every man (in this case, woman) for himself!
