Testing, testing, testing -- that's how Pelosi and the Democrats say we'll defeat the coronavirus. Meanwhile, President Trump and his administration are conducting "operation warp speed" at breakneck pace to develop therapeutics, diagnostics, and a vaccine for the Wuhan flu. Unlike testing, treatments will actually do something for you when you come down sick with the disease. But now we're learning the overwhelming majority of those who have tested positive for the coronavirus should really have been found negative after all.
According to The New York Times, potentially 90 percent of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 have such insignificant amounts of the virus present in their bodies

Well big surprise! And coming soon to a news site near you, a scientific study determining that wearing masks all the time have made people more sick than getting the virus. I get queasy every time I think of millions of school children wearing them all day in school. Oh the illnesses to come.

I think you are right, OP. I think we have known this in our gut. I think President Trump's instincts were correct, and they still are. All the "scientists" had to say was "people are gonna keep dying" to scare the politicians with their eye ever on that next election. Shutting down the economy was the LAST thing in the world POTUS wanted to do knowing the impact on his hugely successful economy.
It's still a really bad NOVEL virus. People still must continue with extra attention to hygiene (as they ought to have been doing already). Wear masks if you must. If you have underlying conditions, use the maximum protection. I have a family member who has a transplant, ergo, with a suppressed immune system, this person must always must be on high alert for germs of any kind.
Better be planning a major press conference with a whole range of medical experts (as far as i'm concerned, you can put Fauci on the dashboard, like a bobblehead doll)

How many ways can we say this pandemic is fake? Let me count the ways. I still hear people worried about planning for the future because they believe the virus is so bad. I say to them that it has to either end soon or it will never end. It's all in what you choose to believe. Sadly, most people are gullible.

Its all about control Just like the chinese government does to their citizens. NO ONE wants to be sick. What a great way to keep people afraid and following orders.
I am watching just how long we are mandated to wear a mask. control. Pulmonary Strep is on the rise from wearing masks. The over sanitation of objects will cause more illness as our bodies will stop fighting off germs. I remind everyone who complains about the shut downs, masks and quarantines that two DEMOCRAT drs. pushed these restrictions. NOT PRESIDENT Trump.

More evidence that “science” has been corrupted by politics. If there was any question about global warming/climate change science, this should put it all to rest. Scientists lied about COVID and are lying about climate change.

OMG! The New York Times is confirming this??? The first tests were too sensitive!?! They detected a "non-contagious" level of the virus!? And the NYT 'answer' is more testing - just using a less 'sensitive' test??? Some people are going to make $millions$ - wanting 150 million tests? And really who do you know who has had it? I know of only a half-a-dozen who had it or may have had it. And those really were people who are removed from us one or 2 degrees. I know of 2 who died (and no doubt the virus contributed to their deaths - like pneumonia contributes to a seriously ill patients demise). One was very old in a nursing home & the other had several other health problems. I do know of a niece who tested positive, while her husband tested negative. She took a second test a week later & was found negative. 'Nuff said.

Well, "The Times" isn't saying this, they're quoting Dr. Michael Mina, a Harvard epidemiologist. The Times piece explains that the current PCR tests perform, typically, 37 or more amplification cycles, when in reality, if it takes more than about 33 cycles to find the virus, then the viral load is so small that it poses no risk, and contact tracing these cases is a waste of time. And, to the surprise of Mina and other experts, that seems to be the case in 80% or more of positive results. The Times does not comment on how this little fact colors the current panic about positivity ratios.
Mina's recommendation for more testing is not stated very clearly, but I think what he's saying is logical, even if it wouldn't be practical. He says that people are contagious for two days before they show symptoms. That, if true, is a problem right there. If you're going to intervene in time to stop the spread, you're obviously going to have to test, test, and re-test all the time. But since you're looking for people with a substantial viral load, the tests should less sensitive than the current standard.

I have been saying for three months that these tests are too new, and are likely generating large numbers of false positives.
This claims it is due to "insignificant amounts of the flu virus". IMO, there is likely also to be cases where the test is detecting other coronavirus antibodies, or other coronaviruses, like the common cold.
