The line stretched a quarter-mile before the sun was barely up Saturday, snaking around corners like bread lines in the 1930s. But the hungry in Queens are today’s New Yorkers, left jobless by the coronavirus. Until the pandemic struck the city, La Jornada food pantry used to hand out groceries to roughly 1,000 families a week. Now, the figure tops 10,000. And volunteers serve lunch every day to 1,000—many of them kids with growling stomachs.(Snip) Seniors, moms and kids, singles—many immigrants from China and Mexico—wait for hours. They turn out in droves wherever, and whenever, the food pantry’s truck shows up.

"Immigrants from Mexico and China", therein lies most of the problem, couple that with welfare layabout tradition and you have a real problem.

"Hungry"?
Nah? Just love getting 'free stuff' whether they need it or not. And I'll bet that 90% of those "immigrants" are actually illegal aliens.
ICE should show up and check them out.

Elected officials in New York have been an utter failure. These destitute food recipients are victims of that failure.
Voters in New York have a responsibility to vote wisely and kick out the current officials who allowed this mess to occur.

When some people sell their food stamp allotments, fifty cents on the dollar, they create a need for food banks.
But if they did not sell their allotments, how would they buy cigarettes, alcohol, marijuana, fancy nails, braided hair, tattoos?

I've always said that people aren't going to stand in orderly lines the next time we broach depression-era hunger, so there's some good news here. But then, the "free-stuff" folks are missing in all of the pictures.

Many immigrants from China and Mexico?
Did you interview them?
Are they democrats?

The last clip I watched of a food bank running a drive through -- the first lady in line had perfectly coiffed hair, nails and makeup and was driving a car with a beautiful leather interior. The second man in line had a collection of gold chains that could finance a small, third world country. Government run social support programs are one big scam. Leave it to the private sector, who have the discretion to say no to the schemers.

This is the democratic plantation. This is what the elites like Cuomo & De Blasio created. They force you to eat crumbs while they feast on filet and lobster. This is what Biden will bring to our country. Democrats deserve everything they freakin get for putting these communists in office. Wake up morons.

Another democrat run city where people are showing up in bread lines. Have you heard about this in any republican / conservative run city?

A quarter mile is merely one lap around a high school track. About as long as the line for a typical high school picture day and registration. And if they were spaced 6 feet apart, it's really not a lot of people. Does anyone report the inhumanity to high schoolers, by the millions, annually, when this happens?

What business do we as a nation have in importing poor people from Mexico and China, then failing to provide them with sufficient food and social services? The teeming hordes of Homeless-Americans are not problem enough in De Blasioville, it seems.
