First lady Melania Trump has revamped the White House Rose Garden.“Excited to honor history & celebrate the future in our beautiful @WhiteHouse Rose Garden this evening. Thank you to all who helped renew this iconic & truly gorgeous space,” she wrote Saturday on Twitter.(Tweet/Pnotos) The First Lady said she wanted to return the garden to its roots, honoring the original design by Bunny Mellon, made at the request of President John F. Kennedy in 1962. “The garden was designed with the presidency in mind, according to the First Lady’s office. The removal of a holly ledge allows a better view of the garden on the president’s walk along the colonnade
It wouldn't have mattered what Melania did... This would have been the response.

Predictable hatred.. I think- the full picture with mature flowers will be delightful.. Melania is a designer- and a historian.. She research’s dinners, countries- plans state meals and her attire accordingly..so the garden has had plenty of research and planning. It will be stunning- and ADA pathways for complete accessibility!
She has a grace and elegance few in media care to understand... I wish she knew how much she is appreciated!!

None of these Hollywood Lint Heads had much to say when "The Wookie" dug up the White House lawn to plant turnip greens and res beans!

Yes, no matter what Melania it is looked on with derision from the left. However, I hate to agree with them but that garden looks very bland and without color. As someone who has struggled to grow roses this year, I would sure like to see some sort of pretty color in that garden. Looks like she opted for White, which in my opinion, is not a color at all.

It must be terrifying to be so full of hatetred. The venom aimed at Mrs. Trump is out of control. Since they cannot bring down the President they have decided a different strategy. Attack our First Lady over what, a garden? When Mrs. Obama planted vegetables she was the saint sent to save us all. Funny how they were not concerned when our statues and monuments were being destroyed. I know we throw around the idea that these people might be insane. It appears they are. I realize they would have attacked her no matter what she did but this is pathetic.

Melania honors the memory of one of the most revered Democrat Administrations, Kennedy's Camelot, and this is the thanks she gets. Is being a complete moron a prerequisite for those who call themselves journalists these days ? smh.

Inside the White House in some previous administrations, skateboarders were allowed to play. All the naysayers should not judge a garden by how it looks in late August.
Check it out in early spring thru summer next year.

A few things, the design is the original one that goes back to the Kennedy's , who the MSM would never ever criticize . From what I can see the roses are pink and white , they were just put in and are not mature plants. They will thrive and grow over the years and be beautiful as they do so.

Re #5 I disagree that white roses look bland. I happen to think they look beautiful and flawless. And, at night in the moonlight, white roses still look white, whereas red or other colors look washed out or even black.

I think that Melania did a lovely job with the Rose Garden, nice, clean lines. Not chopped up and messy like Michelle's garden.
As far as the comment about destroying pollinating vegetation, by removing the crabapple trees which only bloom a couple of weeks a year, Whereas roses bloom all summer and fall providing nectar for the bees.

Looks a bit bland now, but in a few months everything will have rooted and grown and in the spring will be effulgent. By then these people with etiolated window boxes will be silent.
These same people hate her outfits. too.

Remember leftists don't build things; they takeover what someone else built and run it into the ground. When I redid my front yard, it didn't look like much at first, but I had a vision. I laid it out on paper, taking the maturity of individual plants and the color scheme in mind; just like I do with my paintings. Then, the plants matured and filled in, and now it's beautiful and just requires trimming twice a year and the addition of a few annuals here and there. It's a simple thing of beauty that I'm very proud of, and I get a lot of compliments on it. Leftists are stupid and evil. How so many of them manage to be artists stumps me.

Morons. New plantings are usually of plant material displaying few blossoms at time planted. The White House is very formal. So is the garden. Neurotic, cranky people will always find something to chew on..

Kurt Eichenwald, rabid liberal Dem, his body and mind plagued since he was 18 with epilepsy of the frequent grand mal seizure type, is kvetching about “ruining our garden”. Apparently doesn’t know it was about taking it back to Jacque Kennedy’s garden, designed by Kennedy friend Bunny Mellon. Eichenwald is a very sick, nasty, angry person

Roses will be going dormant pretty soon (up here in New England, anyway). I would have liked to have seen the actual landscape architect's plans, which would show what the mature plant-scape will look like. Perhaps the White House website has it.
Others here have noted the depth and danger of the vicious hatred amongst the Democrats AND anti-Trump Repubs. It is poisonous, firstly for the hater, but it almost always ends up being acted out in one way or another against others. It also poisons people who easily succumb to suggestion, as they really don't think very much, and certainly don't consider the consequences of indulging in vitriol. Violent emotions usually spill over into one's entire life and contaminate everyone with whom he or she spends time.
Most disturbing (to me) is how very many of the ugliest haters (speaking of the person, not appearance) are women. I'm thinking about the two women arrested for pummeling the 7 year-old at the Dem Convention site. We've seen many other women such as these all over the country in the middle of really vile and violent behavior.
Remember the saying, "The one who rocks the cradle rules the world"? Who in their right mind would want ANY leftist woman ruling the world? Most likely any cradle-rocking was pre-birth and she rocked and ripped that baby out of her own womb.
And i'm sure everyone senses it about K. Harris, too. Just below the surface, just below the mellow intonations of her voice, the hate for our Founders, for our Republic, for all who desire to protect and defend the Republic against all who are plotting to "transform" and tear up by the roots.
And as i mention often: How can anyone who hates their country take ANY Oath of Office?
So these are the people hating on Melania Trump. By contrast, when she speaks of America, she speaks of it with love. And this is beauty from the inside out.
Thank you, Melania!

If Melania petted a puppy, she'd be sent hate mail. There are squadrons of insane Trump haters that will say ANYTHING hateful about anything he or she does.
Ignore the nasty little punks.

I was active on Twitter last night about this subject. Most don't realize tulips bloom in the spring and then die. And, for the most part, new bulbs have to be planted every year after about 6 weeks of cooling in a frig. And, they didn't realize the ornamental crab apples have almost met their lifespan: 70 years. The reaction was over the top hysterical.

Mia Farrow complains about something that is NOT true. The Garden redo was not financed at taxpayer expense. Too angry to read the reports, Mia or do you enjoy making things up???
Kurt Eichenwald sounds like Greta Thunberg's big brother. How DARE he???

I think Bunny Mellon was the LOL who had the hots for John Edwards....😉
Its previous incarnation definitely had a more intimate vibe, but all gardens evolve naturally over time....always difficult to keep any garden looking exactly the same as the years go by, even if we'd like to.
Also, newly planted gardens never look as good as their mature selves, especially this time of year.
Seems like much ado about not much.

The garbage media knows nothing about Melania. They have made zero attempts to get to know here the past 5 years. Not one single magazine has had her on the cover. Not one!! They ignore her as if she doesn't exist.

By extension these so-called critics are by extension saying that the Jacqueline Kennedy Post Rose Garden was cold, colorless, and boring, because the Rose Garden renovations that Melania Trump just had completed were inspired and created to duplicate the Rose Garden arrangement that was put in place during the Kennedy era.

Gardens take time to set and grow into their space. In a couple of years, it will be gorgeous. The old Rose Garden was overgrown, messy, and very light on roses. It was essentially being use as an annual garden with a few roses and massive shrubs. Now it looks like a classic traditional rose garden.

Mrs. Trump probably got tired of the old Oscar Mayer wiener garden. It WAS more colorful...in a ketchup and mustard sort of way. I seem to remember that she also got knocked by the same group for her somewhat monochrome Christmas decorations a few years ago. The atmosphere was understated and beautiful, things our brassy and vulgar press don’t understand. I live near a place called Longwood Gardens which is public and gorgeous. Kurt Eichenwald, a complete horse’s ass who was humiliated on Tucker Carlson’s show about 5 years ago, would find them nauseating.

It is a rose garden, after all and I think it looks beautiful. When the crab apple trees went by, as the tulips and grape hyacinths did as well, what replaced them, if anything?
