It’s a despicable rise in fast money. Two men were caught on video as they yanked an ATM out of an East Village deli—a crime the bodega industry says is on the rise in the city. “We get robbed, we get killed, we are assaulted, but this is a new thing,” said Jose Dario Collado, the owner of Yankee Deli & Grocery on Avenue C near East 11th Street that got raided in the early hours Friday. “Looting is in style and there is nothing we can do about it,” he said, saying the pair caught on camera “assaulted” his bodega and “left damages
Then ATM-thieving NYC Mormon Missionaries! Have they no shame?

You get what you vote for.
In America, voters determine who gets elected. Vote wisely or else.

In NYC you CAN do what the Koreans did in L.A.
But
YOUR backside is going to get hauled off to the grey-bar hotel FIRST !!
BEFORE they even take names, photograph anything, ask questions.
You and your EVIL OUTLAWED ASSAULT RIFLE are going to be dealt with FIRST.
However, that being said, a machete and removing BOTH arms at the elbow from the assailant(s) might be an option.
Just sayin'

It is interesting that "the Koreans" has taken on fictional life as some sort of folk heroes from the Rodney King riots.
Factually, they shot NO ONE, because the incident was a stoe owner protecting his store by being on the roof, armed and ready-- which deterred the arsonists.
The real punchline was that they had toy AR15s, but from a distance, and no one could get close due to them being on the roof, they looked real, and worked to deter the looters. So nobody was shot, because the guns weren't real.

It's just hungry people putting food on the table for their families. Also considered reparations.

#9 - You're correct on the fictional nature of the well-known story of the Koreans in the Rodney King riot, but your version is also fictional. TK was LAPD and a major in the CAL Army National Guard. Once the Guard was activated he swapped out his blues for camo and became a member of the Guard/Police command center downtown. He had the occasion to talk with a South Korean Army major, in civvies, that was present. The Koreans on the rooftops (multiple roofs) were civilian dressed soldiers of the South Korean Army. You can be sure they were not issued plastic guns. They were flown into Los Angeles the day before the verdicts were announced. The L.A. Korean community had very, very close ties to the homeland. TK has no idea how the "diplomacy" was handled, but as soon as the emergency had passed the South Korean soldiers vanished as quickly as they appeared.

Just viewed #11 videos. Note the fit young men. Note their experienced handling of the firearms. Note most are short-haired, clean cut and in new civilian clothes. These men were not "merchants", although is appears some local Korean boys joined the ranks.
But let's not lose the point. Every American has the right to defend their property, their life and the lives of others. Its time to saddle up for a round of Cowboys and anarchists. Remember, the bad guys always wore black. (Exception made, of course, for Hop Along Cassidy.)

#11 and #12. thanks for the added info. The story I reported was told to me by a shop owner in Long Beach during the riots, and he told me that it was " a friend of mine".
So, apparently there were multiple things going on at the time.

I know I was never happier to be on an airplane out of a place than I was when we left LAX during the riots. The huge area of smoke and fires was horrible and fascinating.

These New Yorkers love to elect liberals. The problem is you can't elect liberals and expect to live in peace and prosperity. It doesn't work that way. You can't vote against law and order and then whine about the lack of law and order. The people of NYC are getting exactly what they voted for and now they're complaining about it? Hard to sympathize.

The exact same types of crimes seen regularly in bodegas in their homelands have become part and parcel of life in the places they now inhabit, and of course it's somebody else's fault. Remarkable lack of insight.
