Gold's Gym has become synonymous with the Hollywood Dream. Set just a few hundred yards from the ocean in sun-kissed Venice Beach, Los Angeles, Gold's was the backdrop for Pumping Iron, the 1977 documentary which followed a young, unknown Austrian bodybuilder called Arnold Schwarzenegger as he prepared for the Mr Universe contest.(Snip) Yet today Gold's sits amid post-apocalyptic scenes which have consumed much of LA, turning the City of Dreams into an urban nightmare from which people are fleeing in droves. A makeshift tent city made up of flapping tarpaulins and cardboard boxes surrounds the gym on all sides. Junkies and the homeless,

No wonder "Narcan Robert" can only find a job cleaning porta-potties. Blaming Trump for the mess in L.A. is just ignorant.

Oh no, no, no!
The middle class should be allowed to leave. Those "woke" liberals need to honor their passion and stay and fix the problem! There should be laws that if you vote Dem and they destroy your city, you need to stay!
As a Republican, I have no problem being forced to stay in communities run by Republicans/conservatives!
Karma's a *itch people. Reap what you have sowed!

Before Trump, everything was heaven. Why can't we get back to a time where the sitting president used the IRS and FBI to harass and destroy his political opposition and the media was silent? Is that to much to ask?

I liked the couple that thinks moving to Mexico is safer. ROTFLMAO
TK and I refugeed out of L.A. 21 years ago. We saw the writing on the wall during the Rodney King riots. (Where, BTW, rioters first moved into upper-class neighborhoods and onto the freeway.) Family and friends all said "Why would you want to leave L.A. and go way up into the woods?" They now understand "why".

Loved how the one guy blamed Trump. This is California's problem, California grown and raised by the democrats. Helped by the populace every voting year. California is a lot like NYC. They think we all want to live there and are insanely jealous of them and their lifestyle. Uh, not true. There is a lot going for fly over country (excluding Chicago in particular). So please do not move here and bring your liberal stupid ideas with you. Stay there, enjoy the weather, the urine smell, the expensive shops, the homeless, the natural beauty, the mentally ill, the beautiful environment, the used syringe, the buildings and monuments, the tent cities. Stay there, leave us alone.

About 50 years ago I worked around Santa Barbara and the Montecito areas for a couple of years, the population was low and the air was nice. The immediate area near Montecito where the downtrodden Meghan and Harry just bought a 14 million dollar mansion from a Russian oligarch was all flower growing farms and fruit orchards.
Apparently now the rich and famous from Hollywood and their liberal politics are starting to infect the area, building mansions and living there. once the population tops up, it won’t be long before the so-called “homeless” from the Los Angeles and San Francisco metropolitan areas start moving into the Santa Barbara and Montecito areas and lay ruin to those areas.

Democrats are like flesh-eating bacteria spreading across the country consuming all that is good and turning it into a black hell of crime lawlessness rioting looting anarchy and economic destruction. Welcome to the world of the Antifacrats, welcome to the world of Biden Harris Pelosi Schumer AOC Sanders and all the rest of them. The fundaments destruction of this economy through massive spending borrowing and tax increases they project is unsustainable and will lead to the ultimate end to Social Security Medicare and all things of that sort.

I don't think Wall Street or the financial markets have fully grasped the magnitude of the catastrophe that has been brought on this nation by the CCP virus. The whole V shaped recovery and anticipation of a strong economy next year is beginning to look like whistling past the graveyard. The destruction of the retail and business centers of cities and the migration of large segments of the population to suburban areas will collapse real estate values and hence the property and sales tax revenues. These cities will literally bleed to death which will mean they will not be able to pay their obligations to municipal bond holders and will declare bankruptcy. Millions of people that rely on these pensions or who have their retirement funds invested in municipal bonds will be wiped out in cities like New York, Chicago, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Boston, Minneapolis, and Atlanta. No amount of Federal Reserve balance sheet tricks will be able to make this whole. It will be like a black hole that sucks wealth out of the rest of the country for decades to come.
While this is happening China will be attracting more and more investment and eclipsing the US as the world economic power. In the end this will validate their ideology that totalitarian governments ultimately prevail over democracies because humans are just too stupid for self government. The question remains whether we still have the collective political and moral will to do what is needed to reverse this mess.

It's hard to get any return on you money now. If a state raises taxes 5%, the wealthy can make a 5% return by moving. There are a lot of places that welcome the wealthy.

Yes, they are coming to your state to replicate the problems here. Just as many of them originally came here from the east coast and various third world paradises. They are locked into the carefully constructed CNN/MSNBC liberal alternate universe and Rachel Maddow is their spiritual leader. Emotions rule so they are immune to all reason. Cause and effect are a mystery. They will explain to you that everything that is wrong is all the fault of the bad orange man and conservatives. Much like "knowing" that all the violence in Chicago is because people in Indiana are allowed to buy guns without mountains of red tape. They will spew words and phrases like systemic racism, white male hegemony, microaggressions, patriarchy, multiple words ending in phobia. When you pin them down they will change the topic or progress to the ad-hominem attack. They will immediately begin to work to "fix" everything that is wrong in your backward, intolerant universe. Good luck.

The major cities are soon to become "zombies" and the people who destroyed them with liberalism are now abandoning their disaster and moving to your nice quiet suburban neighborhood. They are the true living dead.

I agree with everyone that L.A. and California are a disaster but there is one other disaster here and that is the Daily Mail website. It's like a porn storm with all those ads. That site is unwatchable.

What's the problem? This is demonrat utopia. The only thing missing in LA is using he sidewalks to dispose of needles, piles of excrement, and a daily flood of urine. Or did I miss the drive-by propaganda's media cover-up of the story?
