New York has the worst economic outlook of any state in the US, according to a recent ranking that comes as thousands flee the Big Apple amid escalating crime and chaos. The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) published its 13th annual Rich States, Poor States ranking on Wednesday. The researchers looked at issues such as taxation and the economic competitiveness of the state. The economic outlook rating state gross domestic product, absolute domestic migration and non-farm payroll employment. Utah, for the 13th year running, was top of the ranking and New York, for the sixth year in a row, was last.

Hey New Yorkers don't forget to reelect Saint Mario and Commie de Blasio again.

It’s not just protesting that is causing businesses to relocate out of New York, it is the criminal rioting, looting, and the general destruction to business properties that is making it non viable for businesses to stay. Businesses are there to make money, if they can’t do that because of an unfavorable business climate, General civil unrest, along with outright rioting and looting, that makes doing business and getting business insurance cost prohibitive there is no way that business can or will stay.

I'm sure they'll keep voting for liberal/progressive democrats.
Sadly, too may voters still believe their politician is moderate or even conservative democrat if they believe in the 2nd amendment.
Even if your particular politician is moderate, the over-whelming majority of the democrat party is not, and your elected official therefore has ZERO influence.

NY is going to have a real problem when all these people leave and all that are left are the non taxpayers. Once the tax base leaves tourist and others will NOT. There are plenty of lovely cities for vacationing. We can do without NY.

Pot smokin' Big Bird should be run out of town along with his reefer lovin' wife. Look how long it took this imbecile to undo all the work that Giuliani did in cleaning up the city-they should make DeBlasio a garbageman and make him pick up dogturds in Central Park with his bare hands.

Why are we still locked down in NYC? Does the idiot governor think that all cases of a virus can be eliminated? "Just 2 weeks to flatten the curve." That was in March.
How long are you going to drag this out Andy?
As for my mayor, he can't be found.

But - - but - - but don't these businesses know that Warren Wilhelm painted "Black Lives Matter" in giant yellow letters along Fifth Avenue?
Isn't that enough to convince them to stay?

They can keep electing all the progressive idiots they want as long as people can still freely move out of the insanity and the Federal government does nothing to bail them out.
Liberal states have been in slow decline but Trump's brilliant SALT limits on federal taxes really gave them an additional push. Before, all the excess liberal taxes could be deducted from their federal tax forms, effectively transferring some of the cost to people outside the progressive zone. Now that is capped and liberals need to foot all their own taxes. Facing that and all the rest, those that can are leaving. I feel sorry for my sisters who still live in the "Empire" state.
I wonder if people will look back 50 years from now and wonder why we accepted such liberal insanity. "WHY would they do that? It was crazy!" There might even be statues to the "Great Liberator" Trump. Can you imagine?

Not that this is a surprise. Even James Comey's FBI would have found a real clue on this. One wonders if Cuomo, when he lays down at night, takes a moment to reflect on his decision to sent COVID into nursing homes. Then, he smiles to himself and thinks, 'Wow, this must be how Himmler felt!'

Oddly enough the bottom 8 states in economic outlook are all solid Blue Democrat strongholds representing 143 Electoral Votes. Just what are those people in those states voting for?? To be dead last??

my sisters in law and I would pack up our clothes and head for NY City. We would take in Broadway plays, sometimes 3 in one day. We would enjoy a delicious steak dinner, go to Rockefeller Center, tour the Statue of Liberty. All gone. I will have to tell my grandkids what it was like to visit NY City. a thing of the past. SAD

The issue with the comments is that most folks think New York City IS New York State.
North of NYC, the World is a different, far better place, and THAT is most of the State.
The only thing we cannot escape is the excessive taxation.

Mitt had it right long ago. It is hard to run against Santa Claus. These inner city Dem voters aren't just poor. They're foolish to continue to believe the Dem Party lies repeated every election cycle. The money is running for the hills - and the suburbs. A wise woman once stated - eventually you run out of other people's money. While now true - Dems will still win these elections.

Emailed today with my wife's nephew, a weathy bond and stock trader in NYC area, although he lives in
rural NJ. He has nothing good to say about NYC's situation, and literally said "screw them, they get what they voted for, and have made it totally unsustainable".
He warned me to be armed.....I explained that this is pretty easy in KS compared to NJ. He is a big Trump fan, too.

This will attract homeless from across the country just like in San Francisco where the government is posting millions for permanent housing in upscale hotels. I just read the the city of Palm Springs just allocated $3 million for permanent homeless housing downtown. Should do wonders to drive away tourists and drive down property values and all the tax revenue generated. It will feel so good to see these indigent alcoholics and drug addicts finally have a home to call their own.

Every city run by Dems is beginning to look the same-gone. Lawless cities defunding the police. But hey, seems like they they will re-elect AOC and continue the decline.
FL should sue NY because they are all moving here.

And yet, the national media sing the praises of the hunk-tastic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, and how women fall swooning at his feet, and about how great a job he's doing in managing the Chinavirus, never mind the elderly sent to their deaths in nursing homes. Democrat Socialism is on full display in NY state and NYC also (in a purer form, minus the steadying conservative elements from upstate), and we're also supposed to want the same thing nationally with Biden and the walking mattress.
