The mass gathering at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally amid the pandemic is too crazy even for the company whose name is all but synonymous with the annual event.
The Harley-Davidson company has been associated with the rally in the South Dakota town of Sturgis since its inception decades ago.
The big, throbbing Harley “hog” is the rally’s official motorcycle.
The town’s main intersection is Main Street and Harley-Davidson Way.
The plaza at the center of Sturgis is the Harley-Davidson Rally Point, and those who assemble there stand on a huge Harley-Davidson Logo.

2015 was not the official rally start and the H-D plaza is a venue , not the center . The mgt of H-D isn’t even truly cognizant of the Sturgis Effect The last “soul” Harley had was Willie G and with his departure The Company has not truly “gotten “ the aura their product exudes .Their electric bikes and pre customized mostly big dressers are not the spirit of “Live to ride, ride to live “ . Their share $ reflects their challenges and loss of direction . As they try to keep the shiny side up they are not the epicenter of Sturgis , daily beast obviously doesn’t ride ‘it like you stole it “ . The epicenter is all over where riders gather in the fabulous Black Hills . For sure That great Governor won’t be changing that descriptive name

Harley-Davidson is working real hard to be the defunct, former official brand of anything.

How ridiculous of Harley!! This is a company that huge motors suspended on two wheels that go 100 mph with a human sitting on top of the engine... humans who voluntarily sit there because they like it.... And Harley is concerned about the safety of humans? It is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous!

Sadly, HD is now being run by a woke multiple mansion owning euro socialist millionaire who thinks we have too much stuff and that internal combustion is last century. The Motor Company will be destroyed from within like everything else has been. Liberals are very good at that and few seem to fight it.

...yes... once again Liberals/Democrats/Socialist/Communists/Nazi ruin everything they touch.. One of my longtime friends.. a Democrat.. pleaded with me once to consider voting for a Democrat. "Things are good now , but they could be so much better!" he said. I will never ever vote for a Democrat again. NEVER

I’m a member of a Harley Owners Group Chapter in Middle Georgia, and we have not had any group sanctioned rides since January. We still have rides, at least once a week, but the bigger destination rides and Charity events are all canceled. And We do NOT wear masks when we meet up either...

Seems to me riding a Hog is more risky than exposure to the .01% flu.

#8 is right on. I'm watching the British Grand Prix I DVR'd last week. Drivers going up to 200mph, no spectators, and the pit crew wears masks. Pathetic.

It isn't a rally. It's a protest.
There. Now no one will get sick.

Its sad watching the corporate community buying into the covid scamdemic blindly and not questioning it. Nobody with any authority has questioned it. Like the .01% flu. Sums it up nicely.

No surprise. They are a corporation. And like all medium- to large-size corporations, will parrot the PC line.

LOL, now the daily beast, a pig pen of liberal stupidity, is a big biker fan? At least Michael Daly had his moment when he could type, 'big, throbbing Harley hog. That had to be the highlight of the day for Mike. The daily beast is our equivalent of Toyko Rose. Sane people ignore their Orwellian nonsense.

Funny how HD motorcycles are now made in foreign countries and most of the Asian motorcycles are made in the USA. I always wanted a Harley but now I think I'll stick with my Honda.

Hardy Davidson stopped being a motorcycle company years ago. They are a marketing company that builds motorcycles as a sideline. $30 tee shirts, shot glasses, dog sweaters, you name it, HD brands it. The truth is that Harley sells the illusion of a lifestyle and through a motorcycle in the deal.
They are stupid expensive, not as fast and not as reliable. I traded my Ultra for a Goldwing and never looked back. I get reliability, better mileage, better comfort and I don't have to dress like a gay pirate any more. A lot of the HOG members are great people. The bikes they're on? Not so much.

Harley lost it's Americaness several years ago. The new owners are PC and subservient to the left. They only give lip service, at best, any more.

It's corporate policy to go along with the virus BS, just like it's corporate policy to go along with BLM. I'm betting the rank and file Harley workers aren't that way, and neither are the bikers at Sturgis.

None of the people working at either of the 2 Harley dealerships I frequent think like liberals. None of the other customers do either. I love my Harley, it's not the best or the fastest, but I'm 77 years old and I have 'fast' pretty much out of my system. I like the sound of the big 'V' twin and I like all of the Harley riders I've met. Truthfully, I just love motorcycles.

HD is gradually chasing the faithful away. The bikes are not the best but the name and rebel spirit has carried them through thick and thin. The building of the plant in Taiwan was the left jab, the avoidance of Sturgis is the hard right. I see them fading away once all of the older riders are gone. They are amazingly popular in Asia though.

Harley-Davidson is not chasing the faithful away...the "faithful" are dying! Demographics is destiny, and H-D has been selling to an older segment of the public than the others BECAUSE it is afraid of chasing the faithful away before that last long ride.
H-D produces an electric bike...who squawked? It puts out smaller bikes mainly for the overseas markets...who squawked? The company opens an ASSEMBLY facility in Asia to avoid crippling tariffs and fees...and who squawked? They put out a liquid-cooled engine...who squawked? Motorcycle ridership is down. It runs in cycles. Harley is only a player in one segment of the giant global market. Go to Asia and see what's on the road...and they're not "hogs", nor anything much over 250 cc. And everything H-D tries...the "faithful" squawk.
