Even the Official Motorcycle Brand of the Sturgis Rally
Thinks the Mass Gathering Is Too Risky

Original Article

The mass gathering at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally amid the pandemic is too crazy even for the company whose name is all but synonymous with the annual event. The Harley-Davidson company has been associated with the rally in the South Dakota town of Sturgis since its inception decades ago. The big, throbbing Harley “hog” is the rally’s official motorcycle. The town’s main intersection is Main Street and Harley-Davidson Way. The plaza at the center of Sturgis is the Harley-Davidson Rally Point, and those who assemble there stand on a huge Harley-Davidson Logo.

2015 was not the official rally start and the H-D plaza is a venue , not the center . The mgt of H-D isn’t even truly cognizant of the Sturgis Effect The last “soul” Harley had was Willie G and with his departure The Company has not truly “gotten “ the aura their product exudes .Their electric bikes and pre customized mostly big dressers are not the spirit of “Live to ride, ride to live “ . Their share $ reflects their challenges and loss of direction . As they try to keep the shiny side up they are not the epicenter of Sturgis , daily beast obviously doesn’t ride ‘it like you stole it “ . The epicenter is all over where riders gather in the fabulous Black Hills . For sure That great Governor won’t be changing that descriptive name

Sadly, HD is now being run by a woke multiple mansion owning euro socialist millionaire who thinks we have too much stuff and that internal combustion is last century. The Motor Company will be destroyed from within like everything else has been. Liberals are very good at that and few seem to fight it.

Hardy Davidson stopped being a motorcycle company years ago. They are a marketing company that builds motorcycles as a sideline. $30 tee shirts, shot glasses, dog sweaters, you name it, HD brands it. The truth is that Harley sells the illusion of a lifestyle and through a motorcycle in the deal. They are stupid expensive, not as fast and not as reliable. I traded my Ultra for a Goldwing and never looked back. I get reliability, better mileage, better comfort and I don't have to dress like a gay pirate any more. A lot of the HOG members are great people. The bikes they're on? Not so much.

HD is gradually chasing the faithful away. The bikes are not the best but the name and rebel spirit has carried them through thick and thin. The building of the plant in Taiwan was the left jab, the avoidance of Sturgis is the hard right. I see them fading away once all of the older riders are gone. They are amazingly popular in Asia though.

Harley-Davidson is not chasing the faithful away...the "faithful" are dying! Demographics is destiny, and H-D has been selling to an older segment of the public than the others BECAUSE it is afraid of chasing the faithful away before that last long ride. H-D produces an electric bike...who squawked? It puts out smaller bikes mainly for the overseas markets...who squawked? The company opens an ASSEMBLY facility in Asia to avoid crippling tariffs and fees...and who squawked? They put out a liquid-cooled engine...who squawked? Motorcycle ridership is down. It runs in cycles. Harley is only a player in one segment of the giant global market. Go to Asia and see what's on the road...and they're not "hogs", nor anything much over 250 cc. And everything H-D tries...the "faithful" squawk.

ROME—Father Jeremy Leatherby of Sacramento, California, surely knew what was coming when he continued to preach to the faithful that Pope Benedict XVI, who retired in 2013, is still the one true pope. Since the election upon Benedict’s retirement of Jorge Bergoglio, now Pope Francis, Leatherby has shunned the new pontiff and continued to only refer to Benedict as the church’s true leader in mass. Last week, after several warnings, he was charged with schism, defrocked and excommunicated from the Catholic Church. “I continue to regard Benedict as retaining the Office of Peter, as mysterious as that might be,” he wrote in an open letter

Last Tuesday, two notable events occurred in the Democratic Party. Joe Biden announced that he had selected California Senator Kamala Harris to serve as his running mate in November; and Rep. Ilhan Omar won her primary, all but guaranteeing her return to Congress for a second term. On the face of things, Harris’s selection seems like the more significant of the two events. But actually, Omar’s primary victory was far more momentous. Traditionally, presidential candidates have selected their running mates based on electoral considerations.

The latest home for one of boxing's youngest champions is the last place anyone would look. There are reasons for that, starting with the gunshots back in Phoenix that split apart and redirected the paths of the fighting Benavidez brothers, threatening to derail their father’s dream. José Benavidez Sr. had stolen food, slept in cars, carried guns, boosted stereos, learned a sport, opened gyms, fought off rivals. And then, finally, on the verge of grasping all he desired, the plan he scratched and begged and worked tirelessly for started to fall apart. After all of that, he says his life became “a little bit more complicated.”

Americans who want to remain citizens of a united country that at least makes some desultory attempt to protect them and further their interests have no choice but to stay the course. As the saying goes, the only way out is through. I know that some readers will lament that the Trump Administration has been a disappointment. “Where’s our wall?” I’d like to have seen more progress by now, too. “Why wasn’t he tougher during the riots and their aftermath?” I don’t know. The appointment of Senator Harris as Democratic candidate for vice president is a suitable final step in the increasingly goofy Joe Biden campaign, prior to next week’s virtual Democratic convention. She was a catastrophic candidate for the presidential nomination, starting out as a strong rival to the Marxist senator Bernie Sanders, and like Mr. Biden himself and all the others except Mayor Pete Buttigieg, her candidacy sank like a rock. Almost every policy question was answered with a pious assertion of the need for “a national conversation.”

He specialized in playing cranky but smart characters, often with a soft heart behind the bluster. For nearly four years, Washington foreign policy experts and Obama administration alumni warned that the Trump administration was jeopardizing any prospects for Middle East peace. By withdrawing from the Iran nuclear deal, we were told, the U.S. would alienate itself from its allies. By moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, it would inflame the anger of millions of Arab Muslims. By recognizing Israeli sovereignty in the Golan Heights, it would estrange the Arab states. By maintaining close relations with the Israeli government, it would imperil the lives of Palestinians.

Joe Biden took his time selecting a running mate, which seemed prudent. But he came up with Sen. Kamala Harris of California, which seems anticlimactic. And, worse than that, weak. Let’s set aside what sort of vice president and president Ms. Harris might make — the campaign will reveal the best and worst of her and voters will decide for themselves. What does it say about Mr. Biden as a leader? It does not say much, or at least much that is good. Mr. Biden started the vice presidential selection process by putting himself in a box. He pandered. He said he would pick a woman.

One of the ringleaders of the Democratic Party’s attempt to destroy Brett Kavanaugh’s life in 2018 has been named Joe Biden’s running mate for the 2020 presidential election. Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., used the Kavanaugh nomination in 2018 as a springboard for her failed presidential campaign. Focusing on her support for abortion and position on the Senate Judiciary Committee that handled the Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, Harris strongly opposed Kavanaugh’s nomination within moments of it being announced, and long before she had a chance to review his record. Last Friday, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) followed the lead of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) by endorsing presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. Thus far, most objections to increasing the role of the USPS in the election process involve the inevitable logistical problems that will accompany a precipitous expansion of mail-in voting. The addition of overt partisanship among postal workers to inefficiency renders it obvious that the widespread expansion of vote-by-mail is dangerous.

She’s attractive, youthful (she looks 15 years younger than her actual age, which is 55), and presentable. Her voice is neither a hectoring Midwestern drone (like Hillary Clinton’s) nor does it have the prissy professorial condescension of Elizabeth Warren’s. Her voice is fine, albeit a bit nasal.
