A controversial mural in Vermont's largest city is back in the spotlight, ahead of an expected decision on how to take it down.
"I felt misrepresented," said Burlington City Councilor Ali Dieng, I-Ward 7, who voted to cover or remove the panels that form "Everyone Loves a Parade!" by the end of this month.
The council voted 11-1 earlier this year to speed up the removal, which originally was set for a longer timeline.
(Snip) Critics have blasted the mural by a Canadian artist for showing mostly affluent and connected white people and sponsors—none of the New Americans who have immigrated to the Burlington area. The wall also does not reflect anyone

It was special to the people that lived there, when it was painted.
I guess that means whenever any group moves into an area, they can eradicate the art and memories of those that came before them. That's historically normal - for conquering armies.

Well, I guess we need to finally talk about painting over the ceiling in the Sistine Chapel.

Is the term "lacks diversity" good or bad now? Yesterday Biden used similar words to define an entire race. I looked for the New York Times to tell me if this was a bad thing that he said or not, but couldn't find it mentioned at all, so I'm guessing that a lack of diversity is no big deal. If so. why paint over a mural? I'm so confused!

What do you suppose the French would say, if I became a French citizen and then made a public stink over the fact that I, as a new French citizen, was not represented in their artwork? I can tell you what they would say, and it wouldn’t be pretty, welcoming, inclusive or apologetic. And, rightly so. Just who in the he** do these people think they are?

If each point of view means so much to each simply leave and commission a second piece for the new group. That should keep them busy until after the election. At that time PT will be much embolden by re-election with the gift of both houses that we give him,and no one will need to act out of fear of riots.

If we think this is bad, wait until they redesign the Red, White, and Blue to add stars for the two new states.

Burlington, Vermont, the home of the two brain-damaged hippies who made ice cream and used the profits to support communism, leftism and the other perversions du jour. These lefties won't stop until Obama is on Mr. Rushmore and and each of Jane Austen's novels contain at least one lesbian and one tranny.

Make sure Asian Americans are well represented because they make up more of the population than blacks If the new mural has, say, 50 figures kind of like the current one, 2 blacks should be represented. Not much of a change, certainly not one worth removing the old one for. Stupid, but hey, it's Vermont.

You can't change history. You can try to rewrite it, as the democrats are trying to do, but history is a done deal.
The aggrieved people, who are complaining, should make their own mural. They can make it as politically correct as their little hearts desire! Then, they can visit it each day and admire it until their next offense...

Mural is not 'inclusionary' enough so must be removed. Um... aren't all the BLM 'murals' a bit EXclusionary too?

Haven’t these people something more important to do than make noise over this trivial crap? I know, it’s not trivial to them because it’s all about racism which is the most important thing in life to them rather than law and order, earning a living, shelter, and putting food on the table.

#1, isn't this pretty much what ISIS did in the Middle East? They obliterated monuments created thousands of years ago by previous inhabitants. That seems to be what is being proposed here, isn't it?

Vermont is the whitest state in the country, except for maybe Wyoming, so it accurately represents the state. Now, if that mural was painted in, say, Southside Chicago, it might be a problem.

The whitest state in America sued for depicting nearly all whites in a mural. I'm sure all the "new immigrants" are really concerned about that.

Vermont is 1% black. Here's an idea for Ben and Jerry: Section 8 vouchers! We'll move a lot of folks up there to benefit from the bucolic atmosphere and clean air.
OK?

This is what you get when you allow radicals to be elected to municipal positions of power, such as African Muslim immigrants.
