President Trump urged governors to reopen churches and schools, saying they’re “essential” services and should not remain shut down.“I think they should open the churches. It’s up to the governors. But I’m recommending it, you open the churches,” Trump told the Catholic Telegraph. The president said churches should reopen, with attendees wearing masks and socially-distancing.Trump said it’s unfair to Christians that they’re banned from going to church, but Black Lives Matter protesters and left-wing rioters can gather en masse, and Democrats say nothing about the public-health dangers they pose. “They have 50,000 people protesting and they’re standing on top of each other, and yet you’re not allowed to go to church.

Disclaimer: I don't go to church.
How can any congregation continue to support a priest/clergy that will not reopen and say F U to the Governors that have just decreed the 1st Amendment is only what they say it is? I am now to the point of blaming anyone that DOESN'T demand their rights. Guys, it's pretty obvious at this point, that they aint giving you back what you don't take.

Our churches have been open for some time now, except for the Unitarian Universalist church which is more of a platform for SJWs. We have had no problems at all and I am happy to be able to go to Mass.

It seems to me that going to Church is a form of protest now so they too can demand their right to protest. Each church should tell its congregants to bring a sign saying "I am for freedom of religion and speech", There. problem solved. And it is a most peaceful protest too.

It is time to sue democrat strongholds that allow protests and riots but deny churchgoers their first amendment rights. Equal protection under the law means just that.
Also, if your "right" to block a street or highway infringes upon my right to travel freely, it is putting one group's interests over another's. Laws regarding blocking roads exist for a reason. Throw the book at those losers.

In the deep south, our governor has more sense than to issue mandates to the churches. My church has been having Sunday service for almost three months. But if they had refused to open, I would be searching for a church with some backbone.

I am a Southern Baptist girl who has been sitting in a Catholic Church with my pro-life friends the last couple of months, since our elders haven't had the cajones to actually re-open the church. I always thought these were strong men who put faith before anything. But now they put fear before faith.
A 20 minute sermon on Facebook just isn't the same as being gathered with fellow believers praising and worshiping God.
I may not get everything the Catholic Church teaches, but at least they had the guts to open the first Sunday our governor decided to stop being a fascist moron. And I thank God for giving me that fellowship at this point of insanity in our world!!!!

Our church is "obeying" the meeting outside only stuff insisted on by our governor, "Gavin the Terrible" Newsome. We just got permission for the whole church to attend as long as we stay outside. What does that mean? It means the neighborhood (we're in a residential area) hears our singing of praise to Jesus and all the preaching they can handle!!! The Gospel goes forth and the gates of hell WILL NOT prevail against it! So take it to them--those who think they can take God out of the culture, stop us from praying (that's actually really funny when you think about it). God sits in the heavens and laughs (Psalm 2).
The church isn't a building it's a people! Garcetti in LA is threatening churches (and others) with turning off power and water. He's a little bully and tool for Satan. Don't get anywhere near him--he's in for some serious trouble with the Lord who hates pride.
If churches stick together and open, what will they do? Persecution by governments is nothing new.

DId they shut down the damned mosques as well? I didn't think so...the bible fortells in the end times believers will be persecuted...it's starting, unfortunately...I didn't think I'd live to see it, but here I am...

Glad you brought that up, #11. My West TX Panhandle area has open churches (to varying extents but not normal by any means) because our Governor got fairly strict once we were declared a “hotspot. I found out yesterday the local mosque hasn’t skipped a beat and never closed one “service.” They knew the local media has a hands off policy where they are concerned.

This is just an aside. I mostly go to the Baptist church but since I once sang in the choir at the Methodist church, I go there some Sundays since they just re-opened. There are around 40 people in the choir. In three Sundays at the Methodist church, I have seen two choir members. I wonder if they are in the habit of watching it in their jammies and have gotten too comfortable to get up and leave the house every Sunday. I hope churches don't lose a lot of members because of this. Attendance at the Baptist church is almost what it was but now in two services.

I am kind of shocked that most of the pastors here are not fussing about churches being open. My pastor seems to say we will open when everyone is allowed to come and worship. I am not pleased. I believe churchgoers are smart enough to wash their hands and keep their distance, so I find myself debating about returning when my church finally opens up.

The Cowboy Churches here in East Texas hardly missed a beat. The small Methodist churches basically rebelled against their bishop and reopened after a month off. Seems the big churches are more willing to 'phone it in' than the smaller ones.

SALady, ask your friends about Adoration and consider attending it in contemplative prayer. Unfortunately San Antonio has just one real Latin Mass chapel, St. Joseph's by the old Lee high school, and something similar at an Ordinariate at Our Lady of Atonement. If you are ever in Houston check out Regina Caeli. Many blessings to you!

Really amazing that you can protest and burn things, have house parties and shoot people, but can't go to church. Will some real heroes stand up?

The woke churches can stay closed. Per Dr. John MacArthur, they are serving a greater purpose by doing so. Woke churches are, that is. The longer they are closed, the less opportunities they have to lie to and steal from their congregations.
