Abolish police, and the Second

“My whole adult life, opponents of private gun ownership have insisted that an individual right to keep and bear arms was outmoded because it is better to rely on the police,” Georgetown Law professor Randy Barnett recently remarked. “In multiple ways, in 2020 that argument has been completely demolished.”
He is correct on both counts. The argument that only the police should have guns was once standard. It has now become unfashionable, as everyone is expected to accept the premise that only criminals and rioters should have them.
The anti-gun Left — and even a newly resurgent gun-toting Left involved in or near to the recent riots — is being swept

Never before have I seen a greater need to own guns to protect my family and the Democrats in Virginia want me disarmed against criminals. Damn them!

When you hear 'defund the police' it means get armed, or get better armed. Who else will help you when needed, a city council person, a mayor, a governor? Hardly. The left is nuts, nuttier than the rioters.

The original purpose of the 2nd amendment was to allow citizens to protect themselves from a government run amok. Now, there emerges another strong purpose, to protect our persons and properties in the absence of police to do that.

Due to the high cost of ammunition, no warning shot will be fired.

Functionally, they have already abolished the police by castrating them first.

We recognized what was on the Left's agenda during the Rodney King riot and bought our homestead the following year. For the last two decades we have been safely ensconced on our 40 acre sanctuary in the middle of a 6,000 acre private and gated subdivision, four miles from the highway on a graveled dirt road. When we were discussing the house site, TK's primary concern was the field of fire. Its real nice to be married to a retired cop and Army Major. Thanks to the Obama years we are well stocked on long-term food stored in three different buildings, 30 gallons of gas stored and rotated, a 500 gallon propane tank, back-up generator and our own well. We even have a hand-pump system we can install should that become necessary. Unfortunately, the gun collection was lost in a tragic boating accident on the lake.
Take care everyone. We're on our own. Patriot up!

The obligation to "Protect" may not be required by law because the police can not be everywhere all the time to provide that protection. This has always been the case. However, if they show up in time to provide that protection then I believe they are not only obligated morally but also by the law. It is their job for which we pay them to do.
Also, many police cruisers have the motto "To Serve and Protect" painted on the side of their vehicles. Is this just there to make you feel fuzzy or is it an outright lie.
We need more police with better pay and better training. When we find a bad cop in the group get rid of them quickly. They are a minuscule minority of the force that gives a bad image to the entire group.

It used to be said that ''when seconds count, police are only minutes away!'' Now, it's ''when seconds count, police are only hours away- or maybe never...''

#8, every state in the union absolves the police of any legal liability to protect adults not in their custody. So wile it might not look great politically, they can stand on a street corner and watch you get beaten to death, and they have no legal liability. Basically never have. Too many believe the lie that the police will or have to protect them. The police only do that until their bosses tell them not to. And their bosses tell them not to when it's politically expedient to do so.

When public officials talk about abolishing the police, they need to consider all the consequences.
The 1st of which should be the immediate withdrawal of any police protection for dem.
Lead by example.

#8 and #10, "To Serve and Protect" SOCIETY not the individual. This was revealed a couple of decades ago. This is a communist type partial statement to the provide a false narrative for the establishment of an armed force AGAINST the population. You have always been on your own.

The Second Amendment and personal self-defense has always been at the top of my list. Law enforcement at any level can no longer be trusted, except for county sheriffs who are elected and do not answer to democrat dingbats. Never surrender your weapons. When the police come to your door demanding your weapons you might as well make a stand at that time or they will be shooting your unarmed butt shortly thereafter.

We have two choices in the Presidential election:
A) More of what we are seeing in our Democrat-run cities and states
or
B) Cities, states and country run by a President and candidates who love their country
Not a hard choice.

I agree but in some states, particularly NJ, if you have to exercise your 2nd Amendment right to defend yourself, your family or your business, you become the criminal and will be charged with murder. You will then go bankrupt trying to defend yourself once again in court. If a family member or spouse without a firearms ID card uses one of your weapons to defend you, he/she will be charged with Illegal possession of a weapon and be arrested also. Our rights have been stolen by Democrats.

Wrong #8. More cops with better pay and training won’t mean anything. When something goes wrong at your house it will be only you and the perp. The police won’t get there until it’s over. It’s your responsibility to make sure it’s not your chalk outline on the floor that the cops will be drawing. Make sure it’s the perp’s.

Guns won't go anywhere after Seattle and Portland.
Even the blind are buying guns for protection from the liberals.
