McDonald's will close 200 locations in the United States as the chain faces a bumpy recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic after second quarter global sales dropped by 30 percent due to lockdowns limiting operations to drive-thru and delivery. The fast-food company reported a bigger-than-expected drop in second-quarter profits on Tuesday as a result of much lower sales due to coronavirus closures that affected most of the chain's worldwide network. The fast-food company suffered a 68 percent drop in profits to $483.8 million, following a 30 percent decline in revenues to $3.8 billion.

Reduction in profits does not equate to operating in the red. They are still making some money just not as much. How about let all your employees that want it take the Hyrodoxi regiment and open the hell up.

In my part of the state, no McDonald's dining rooms have opened and the prices have gone way up. It's no surprise that their sales are down.

Corporate still making money, that's good. How are the franchisees doing?

The populations most likely to be infected with the Chinavirus are also those most likely to be handling the "food product" at places like McDonalds. So that's a triple No from me.

I assume these are corporate owned stores and not franchise stores. A 'minor detail' missing from the article.

This would be a great time to push for a $15 per hour minimum wage. /s

Re post #1. I did not know this but these corporations accounting is something else. They are still making money. To me they lose money when they end up in the red (in the hole, so to speak). The way their accounting goes, is if they make less money during the current quarters, as opposed to the same quarter, the previous year, then they say they lost money, while still making a profit, maybe not the same or bigger as the previous year.

The one we use quit making breakfast so that probably means less money. However, all the McDonald's around here have had $1 for a drink, any size, for months. That sure brings us by there more often than usual.

You have to wonder how many of the 200 McDonalds restaurants were destroyed in the riots and would never reopen in any case!

I used to eat breakfast at the McDonald's inside Walmart and read the paper while there. Then, they stopped selling anything with bacon and closed the seating area. Once in a while I'll get a coke while leaving Walmart. Now, they aren't even opening until 10 am. I do my shopping at 7 am. They used to have a really good business. Not anymore!

If these morons would open their dining rooms, I'd get lunch or dinner there occasionally.
But, since our city and state permit them to open, and yet the idiots in charge say 'driver thru only', I say. " drop dead."
I WANT TO SIT DOWN IN AIR CONDITIONING AND EAT. Until you permit that, not one penny from me, idiots.
