Adam Milne, the owner of Old Town Pizza & Brewing, realized he had to shut down his flagship Portland taproom on July 9 after the business closed out the day with just $18.75 in sales. As he walked through downtown and saw the boarded-up storefronts and empty streets that day, it was hard for Milne to envision customers returning to his restaurant anytime soon. He knew he couldn’t keep bleeding money by keeping the taproom open. “I think all restaurants are really hurting and struggling, but I’m not sure if the city and state officials realize that to be a
A new challenge??? Really? Not a new THREAT? Disaster?

Pandemic you say?
What a freaking joke. How about 60 days of anarchy condoned by Marxist city leadership.
Y’all enjoy your burned out crap hole.
I’m working on 2 things:
1) not a dime of my tax money going to your city
2) keeping your kind OUT of my neighborhood
Not my circus. Not my monkeys.

“Most of us can’t afford to pay our rent and be closed for six months while we wait for some sort of recovery. It’s a really immediate problem.”
Good luck with that. Most of those businesses will close forever and it will be years before Portland gets back to normal if ever. If Portland's "leaders" were to get a grip including allowing the police to use lethal force, it might recover quicker. Considering that the city is run by Marxist morons, that will never happen.

Again, I cannot feel sorry for anybody in Portland. The smug and virtuous woke voters brought this on themselves by voting in Wheeler and his fellow travelers on the city council. How proud are you now that you see racism and inequality under every rock? What has BLM done for you? You voted for Utopia and wound up with Dystopia. And I’ll bet any amount of money that Portlandians will vote the same types in again because it’s better than evil Republicans. These people will never admit their mistake and the city council doubles down on restricting police.

Poster 3, the subscription screen blocked my access. I closed the article, and reopened. Also, I clicked just inside left edge of address bar and selected —- show reader view.

Yeah if the federal government would just let them burn the courthouse down everything would get back to normal. The protesters certainly would not find a new target that irritates them, and the tourists would come back, and the governor would suddenly become sensible and allow stuff to open back up. These Tahoos deserve to suffer, lose their businesses, and go broke.

I wonder how much of Portland is really being affected? The news media has a habit of blowing things out of proportion. All this rioting could be just in a small three or four block area, while a few blocks away, nothing is going on. Still, there are all of these nut jobs wondering around, and traveling in and out of the riot zone each day.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to go to Portland so maybe it's just for people who live there and vote for idiots. All of these big Dem cities will very soon be populated by only the people who can't afford to get out. Maybe reparations are intended to pay for moving expenses.

Dear Portland business owners: You aren’t fighting hard enough to end this madness.

I know someone who lives in Portland who genuinely believes that things were getting better there before the federal agents arrived. Of course, she is also fairly far left and was shocked to discover how racist Portland is when she first moved there.

No city in the entire USA deserves to go belly up and turn to dust more than Portland, Oregon, does; not even SF, NYC, or Chicago. Portland put out the welcome mat to these people years ago. They are getting what they invited in.

I lived in Portland from age two to 18. My parents moved us there to escape the increasing insanity of CA. At the time it was seen as mainly a wide spot on I-5 between the two “sophisticated” leftist havens of Seattle and the Bay Area. I left in 1999 mainly to escape the rain and go to college out of state. It was a beautiful place to grow up, and to see how far it’s fallen down the Marxist “progressive” rat hole makes me genuinely sad. I haven’t even visited in six years...and anymore I’m embarrassed to admit to being from there.

This is the reality of the Obama promised fundamental transformation of this country becoming a reality. It took a while but today we are being fundamentally transformed by violent radical anarchists that are the activist militant arm of the Democrat party and all of them are Burning for Bernie and Goe Joe voters and would see the White House in flames if they could and would break into the National Archives Museum and build a bonfire with the Constitution, Bill if Rights and Declarations of Independence.

What? Protesters don't stop and buy pizza on their way to a riot?
This guy is obviously being careful with his language so he doesn't upset potential customers.
