Medical Experts Urge Another Shutdown
As Coronavirus Cases Surpass 4 Million

As the US hit a sobering 4 million cases of COVID-19 and the rising daily rate of confirmed cases and hospitalizations suggest the virus is far from under control, medical experts are urging political leaders to shut down the country and start over to contain the pandemic. At least 4,038,748 coronavirus cases and 144,304 deaths were recorded in the United States, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. As the numbers climb, more than 150 prominent US medical experts, scientists, teachers, nurses and others have signed a letter to political leaders urging them to shut down the country and start

Comments:

So called experts want a complete shut down and start over. I guess the economy is recovering too quickly to suit their purposes.

If everybody else has to shut down to suit the doctors, doesn't that mean the doctors are willing to work for free. Maybe they should just drop their politics, use the drugs that we know work, and get back to work.

Are these experts using clinics that have 100% test positive ? Nothing funny about testing random clinic patients and all of them are positive.. What is the death rate? Maybe we are reaching herd immunity- the more that have it now... But, we can’t shut down again.. well yet.. it is not close enough to November.. Or maybe Joe’s dementia needs to have him hiding in basement again.. I am done- I shut off Facebook- no cable or local news.. life seems mostly normal- with a mask on anyway..

How many of those deaths were not covid? How many people have been admitted to a hospital. Hospital admittance is the only number that needs tracking. The stuff the media is pushing is cooked books, and more than likely having to do with all the testing the Feds want done.

Why? We know that in spite of rising 'case' numbers that the death rates have plummeted and that the overwhelming majority of cases are minimally and only briefly sick. Let this damn bug run its course while those at highest risk remain sequestered and everyone else simply exercises reasonable caution. We never needed to do more and sure as H don't need to be stupid twice.

Our governor here in Louisiana must have read AOCs tweet about governors keeping their states shut down a little longer, because a few more businesses lost and jobs lost is a cheap price to pay for getting rid of Trump. He extended phase 2 an extra 2 weeks while he is trying to figure out if he can get away with a return to phase one. If nasty Pelosi asks, he'll try to deliver.

What's the big deal about the number of cases? Do we show daily cases for seasonal flu? If we did they would dwarf these daily COVID case counts. It's totally ridiculous. The initial severe lockdowns achieved their stated goal of flattening the curve so our hospitals could restock supplies and not be overwhelmed. Good. But once the lockdown was lifted, of course the increased contact would lead to a rise in cases. But the number of deaths is under control and the hospitals should be prepared for the limited increase in serious cases. Stop with the absurd drumming of the number of cases. Not relevant and not working.

Let it run it's course. That's what will get rid of it. Number of cases is meaningless and is not worthy of being reported. Deaths per million per week rolling would be a somewhat useful number. That shows the epidemic as being almost over, retreating into the background. All this social tampering is just delaying the end of the disease. Besides, it is likely to remain with us in mutating form for the indefinite future. Just like the flu, cold, norovirus, herpes, other coronaviruses, etc.

About this time it should be dawning upon the USA, and the world, that effectively the Chinese Communists have launched what amounts to a covert biological warfare attack on the world, using a very contagious man made virus that has not behaved like any past natural virus that has usually disappeared during the Summer months. This current Chinese virus is acting so strange, with so many apparent damaging effects on victims, that the most eminent medical scientists in the world have not yet been able to get a clear handle on it. It is clear as to who is to blame for the hundreds of thousands of deaths throughout the world caused by the virus and that is the Chinese Communists who allowed the virus to be unleashed upon the world through global commercial air travel. No US politician from the President on down is to blame for the virus. The motive for unleashing the virus was clearly to severely damage or destroy the economies of the free countries across the world. From witnessing what has been going on that is just common sense.

The "critical grammar" approach challenges the standard academic form of the English language in favor of a more inclusive writing experience.

The dramatic increase of COVID-19 cases in the states of Texas, Florida, Arizona, and California this summer has many scratching their heads. The summer months were supposed to slow infections due to activities taking place outdoors and more in-home ventilation, such as windows being opened up. This hypothesis has thus far proved true in many northern states — most dramatically New York — while the South has fared much worse. There are a few possible explanations for the South’s infection spike. The first is that a widespread lack of mask-wearing is causing these increases. The national media have been quick to note that Republican governors such as Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis
