California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) on Tuesday decried President Donald Trump’s executive order which will exclude Illegal aliens from being counted for purposes of congressional apportioning.
“Counting every person in our country through the Census is a principle so foundational that it is written into our Constitution,” Newsom said in a statement. “This latest action by the administration to exclude undocumented immigrants when determining representation in Congress, rooted in racism and xenophobia, is a blatant attack on our institutions and our neighbors.”
Earlier Tuesday, President Trump signed the order, saying the memorandum is designed to bar “illegal aliens from the apportionment base following the 2020 Census.”

Rage on all you want to, Gavie. No citizenship, no vote privileges. This is America where we are supposed to have rule of law, in case you have forgotten.

Only in America, where a certain political class allows non-citizens to vote. Nowhere else I know of.

There are enough illegals in the US for 16-19 congressional seats and electoral votes. If this stands, CA would lose 3 or more congressional districts and electoral votes.
Why do ya'll think that blue states are so welcoming to illegals? Simply, more power, more money, more representation and a non-voting population that can be ignored.

Illegals are not protected by the Constitution and are not entitled to representation in Congress. Seems pretty simple to me.

Rage away, punk.
Illegals need to be deported, not counted.

Cry me a river. If you think it means to include non-citizens, you’re nuts. Change your moniker because it does not fit

At the founding, the US population is estimated to be 2.5 to 4 million. I dont think the framers could have imagined 12 million illegal immigrants collecting welfare, food stamps, health care and subsidized housing.
Also, the constitution says "Free Person", not person.

Why isn't there an active conversation about finding ways to legalize the people who are here?
Answer, the Democrats want to provide an amnesty solution, which then enables them to gain a sense of obligation, from those who've been suddenly granted citizenship, by amnesty, a reason to vote for them.
And, why didn't they do this when they held the WH, Senate and House?
Instead, they've used the children, in particular, by declaring Deferred Action on a certain group(brought by their parents when they were very young), and then pushed an Unaccompanied Minor wave (what happened to those children and do they know where they are? Using the reverse by bringing minors who then could bring their parents).
All for the desire to use those children's "heart wrenching" stories as a political tool against Republicans.
The easiest solution, simply let everyone currently here a path to citizenship starting at the end of the current line of those who've applied in the normal, legal process. I realize it takes about 10+ years while in line, but it's the fairest and quickest route, without short-cutting the current line with amnesty. If you want to shorten the wait, then grant amnesty to those currently in line over 5 years.

If you can count illegals in California and other states, whats to stop say, Iowa or Nebraska, from counting truckers who are passing through but stopped overnight at a truck stop as residents in the census? Couldn't Florida count retirees from northern states who spent the winter there (even though they live up north) as residents. After all they were there when people were counted. Why not count count people who vacation in other states in other states from where they live for short periods of time. What's the difference between all of these people and illegals? They are all staying in a state with nothing legally binding them there like citizenship. If ILLEGALS can be counted, anyone from anywhere who is any state at any time could potentially be counted as a resident for census purposes.

Hell, if I knew they weren't going to count in the gerrymandering, I'd have quit letting them all in as soon as my watch started.

#10, sorry, in my opinion we should not talk about a way to "legalize" even ONE single person who is in the county illegally, EVER.
Coming here illegally should FOREVER bar that person from any legal status whatsoever.
We don't need any more criminals. Deport them ALL.

How will an accurate number of citizens be determined?
The citizen question was not on the census questionnaire.

Gavin we're already counting covid cases in illegals and adding them to the death list. What else do you want? Can't satisfy these nutjobs. By the way. Gavin sounds just like his "hero" President Fauci when he talks. Sounds manly.

#10 suggests an amnesty. And when we repeatedly do what #10 suggests, we've set up free immigration without limits. Oh, and how many times have we already done the amnesty thing (every time saying ok, this is the last time).

Ballpark one Congressman for every 650,000 CITIZENS.
So, if Cali has maybe 2 million illegals, that is about three Congressional seats to lose.
THAT would wonderful!
And is why Gov. Nuisance is angry.

Newsome wants to count residents and citizens of Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, China, Korea, South Africa, Camaroon, etc. who are present in the USA without legal permission (or visas) for purposes of getting an additional Congressman or two.
Why, at the same time does he deny to American citizens in distant states the option of claiming to be living in California, so he can get even more additional Congressmen.
I'm sure there are at least 15 million Republicans we could find who would sign up for that, even if they weren't allowed to vote there, just so California could get 25 or so new members of Congress who would all end up as elected Republicans!
I know my votes are just thrown away in Virginia. This place, which still has more Republican voters than it does Democrats, has been lost due to cheating ~ so why can't I declare myself to be a Californian just for enumeration purposes?
If Virginia doesn't want to count the votes correctly, they should not be allowed to use Republicans to justify Democrat politicians!
That seems so manifestly unfair!
Give me California or give me money!

The over/ under for the number if "extra" seats California illegally has and will lose is 6. Personally i would take the over.

No representation without taxation. (Actually, that would exclude about 50% of our citizens as well, which I would be in favor of)

Of course he does. He wants all the federal money he can get. In fact, if he had his way, CA would take it all. Unfortunately, he'd have to fight greedy comrade Cuomo to get it.
