The socialists are coming—to the state Assembly. A half dozen insurgent candidates in Brooklyn and Queens—some backed by the Democratic Socialists of America—toppled veterans incumbents in Democratic primary races, including close allies of Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-Bronx). With Heastie’s backing, the Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee poured more than $400,000 combined to prop up 46-year-veteran Joe Lentol, Felix Ortiz and Walter Mosley in Brooklyn and Aravella Simotas, Michael Den Dekker and Michael Miller in Queens. They all lost. Insurgent Zohran Mamdani, who defeated four-term incumbent Aravella Simotas in the 36 AD covering Astoria, said in a tweet: “Socialism won.”

It is amazing that people that will not follow any rules, or allow anyone to tell them what to do, want socialism, where a few people tell everyone what to do, down to the smallest aspect of their lives.

And Kalifornia turns green with envy ... "Escape From New York" wasn't a movie, it was an early documentary.

Upper NY will be joining the "Move the border' campaign to join VT, or form a new state.

Hoo-ray. The downhill slide of New York is picking up speed. Just keep your troubles within your borders and have fun.

The people of NY who are voting for Socialists deserve what they get. They will soon be living in fear and poverty with no police to protect them. They will become the next "immigrants" running to another state to escape the tyranny that will follow.

FTA:The newcomers are expected to raise hell, but Albany watchers said the jury is out on how much impact they will have in a body with more than 100 Democrats
Oh they will have impact. Anyone who disagrees will be slandered, harassed, intimidated, and painted as a racist. Just look at how the 4 members of 'the Squad' have the Democrats in Congress on a short leash.

It will be interesting to see the fallout on the first day that NY cannot extract money from its own followers, as everyone else will have bailed out.

Somewhat ironic given that the only thing keeping New York afloat is Wall Street.

This is going to happen more and more - the Democrat party poobahs are all old and have been in office for decades. They have a long track record that is easy to attack by young socialists with no record. Obama's two terms wiped out a whole generation of up and coming "moderate" Dems who were being groomed as the next generation of party leaders. That left a vacuum that the Bernie Bros have moved into. As they pick off more and more of the old guard, expect the remaining oldsters to go further and further left to appease them in hopes of surviving.

I'm sure that these socialists aren't going to work for the same wages as the 'common ' folks. They will hit the trough running.

So, what will really change? New York City is already a socialist utopia. They can reelect DeBlaisio again and have more riots and looting. The new socialist upstarts will do nothing to stop it, just like the current bunch.
Any rational people better escape while they can. The socialists would like to impose an ''exit tax'' on anyone leaving. People would be lucky to leave with the shirt on their backs!

One of the Socialistas wants to tax the top one percent. Dirty little secret is the top one percent have all moved away They will still tax the top one percent, but they were formerly the top ten or twenty percent. As more people move away, they will raise taxes on those that remain to cover the difference. Afterall, they 'need the revenue'.
NYC is going Socialist (and Marxist and Communist). They will export those voters to the rest of the state and turn more districts socialist. Eventually the entire state will be run by Socialists. Give it ten years tops.

There is nothing democratic about socialism. I wish journalists would more aptly describe the party as what they are: Socialist Democrats.

Pelosi and the rest of the Democrats are already trying to use the “Hero” bill to bail out Democrat controlled cities and states that have put themselves into bankruptcy. If the Democrats get control, the rest of us will be bleed to bail out the corrupt and incompetent (I.e., Democrat) run cities and states.
You can be assured Socialist Democrats will go on a spending spree once in office.

Socialism won, but when the state goes broke, they will fully expect and probably receive a bailout from the rest of us.
