President Trump’s proposal to cut payroll taxes in the next coronavirus aid package is gaining little traction among Republicans on Capitol Hill as lawmakers ramp up negotiations on legislation that can pass through the House and Senate in the coming weeks.“There are some differences of opinion on the question of the payroll tax cut and whether that's the best way to go,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters Tuesday. “And so, we're still under suffering for the administration on that.”The payroll tax cut proposal was barely discussed when Republicans met privately with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and White House chief of staff Mark Meadows on Tuesday, lawmakers said.

Sorry, this may be something for 2021, but not now.
Need to extend that $600 unemployment for 3 months, which the Dems will demand be extended thru Dec 31st.
Far too many will be needing to be home with their children since schools won't be open, and many can't go back to work and pay for day-care.
Don't give them reasons to vote against you.

The payroll tax cut or elimination will help employees as well as employers.

The $600 bonus unemployment needs to go. I talk to small business people every day. They tell of folks they had to lay off this spring but need back to work now. But they're told, no, I'm making more sitting on my butt at home than coming back to work. Maybe a $50 or $100 bonus is okay, but not enough to make it a disincentive to return to work.

Most of these politicians have never worked in the private sector or met a payroll in their whole lives.
Trump has done both, so I'll trust his judgment.
So many of these Republicans are only in politics to benefit themselves in whatever they do. Worthless.

That $600 unemployment must have had some pretty far reaching effects. Ds has a summer job as a package handler for FedEx and they are paying $15 an hour and $18 an hour on weekend shifts and they are hurting for employees, very understaffed. Ds is cleaning up and putting away a tidy little nest egg. He can get any shift he wants and work up to 40 hours a week at this point. Hard physically but he is a hoss like his dad and it's good money for a kid heading to trade school in the fall.

I voted against our incumbent rep senator in the primary. Shes become part of the good old boys club and had done little to support the president. I am considering voting against her in the general also. Better to have an identified enemy than a traitor who wears our uniform.

That $1200 should be nice and go straight into my savings account. Plus the $1800 UI I get every two weeks looks fat too. What....me work??? Hahahaha!!! Thank Mitch. But I am afraid that the pork fat buried in it is astronomical and will go to deep state politicians and their buddies.

The President spoke today about maybe getting something but not $600 extra. I continue to think that the reporters have forgotten who the public is that they should be serving. Some of the behavior by the Press at the Press Conferences are disgraceful.

I guess the thought of people receiving an actual check looks more important. Also, since there are millions of people out of work because of bogus information about the virus, passing a payroll tax reduction wouldn't gain as much support.

"And so, we're still under suffering for the administration on that."
What the freakin' heck does that mean? The best way to go is to extend unemployment, but God forbid we give people, who are working to pay for other people not to work, a measly payroll tax cut. Cut our darn taxes, Mitch! Get over your spineless self. These people make me sick.

I fully expect these spineless yellow-bellied republicans to embrace the House bill and give them everything they want. It's what they do. Elect a real conservative, not any of these panty-waist demonrat pretend republicans.
