Jacklynn Walters has homeschooled her oldest child for the last 6 years.
When schools closed early this year to help stop the spread of the coronavirus, this mom of four says she didn’t have to worry about her children’s education.
“I had a number of parents concerned about their child getting behind because they weren’t finishing that last little bit of their school semesters," she said. "It wasn’t something in my mind. I didn’t have to worry about my child getting behind or even in the future."
Walters volunteers as the media director for the homeschooling organization Midwest Parent Educators. She says more parents are inquiring about homeschooling.

The charter schools here, since Trump has allowed school choice, have a 40% increase in parents wanting to send their kids there. Now they just have to find the teachers. As for homeschooling, that's also an excellent alternative. If done right, the kids will at least understand 2 + 2 is really 4, now whatever you want it to be.

Who is choosing the textbooks for homeschooling, and setting the lesson plans? I hope the parent can choose to stop the indoctrination of their children, and can focus their children's education on subjects of benefit to them. We are getting nothing but making our children worse off from the government run schools, who are teaching them to hate their parents, this country, and our heritage. As for defunding, we need to provide parents with vouchers for school choice. For the universities, too much is being spent on buildings and teachers that is unnecessary. You don't need to go to Harvard or Yale to get an accounting or economics degree for sure, or any other type of degree.

My Son’s family’s school district, after initially announcing kids would be back in school come fall, backtracked to online learning after Gov. Newsom tightened up the state again. My son and his wife are now scrambling, trying to figure out how to manage online school for their children while they both work. They are talking about a kindergarten co-op with some friends who all have children starting school this year. A family friend said parents on her street are thinking about hiring a teacher to teach all the grade school children who live there. Online learning was awful for most kids - no one wants to return to it.

I imagine online learning would be like working from home. Full of distraction, empty of interaction and motivation. Not a good solution. But I'm sure colleges will push it, while still extorting top dollar for the privilege. What's the difference between a diploma from Harvard online and the University of Phoenix? Nothing; both will get you a job at Starbucks.

#4, there is an entire network of groups and families who work together to homeschool. It’s not just a parent sitting at the kitchen table with a child all on their own. They have their own curriculum and they set up group activities, field trips, sports, etc. They even have their own legal defense organization to take care of leftist trying to shut them down. And they are almost 100% conservative. Home schooled kids are far more advanced than their peers in public schools. It’s the reason that home schooled kids almost always win the National Spelling Bee
I used to be a karate instructor and taught a noon class twice a week. All of the kids in those classes were homeschooled and the class was their PE for the day. Best behaved and most goal oriented kids I ever had.

Public school's have been clamoring for smaller class sizes for years. Now they can have them without having to hire more teachers.

Our #7 is well-informed on our thriving homeschool community nationwide. I am familiar with the Christian conservative homeschoolers, that is. I say “our” because veteran homeschoolers like me remain active to assist young parents and conservative homeschool groups whenever we can. It thrills us old timers to see all the happy, God-honoring families with healthy, content and well-educated children. We knew how homeschooling blessed our sons with the successful lives they enjoy today but its even better to see that multiplied in the many thousands of other conservative American families. I saw back in the 80’s that even our rural schools were slowly morphing into the image the federal government wanted. You get those federal dollars and they are in charge - small rural school or big urban school.
Check out how many homeschoolers do well at Hillsdale College which is known for a rigorous curriculum. Heck, my Board-certified and wonderful dermatologist was homeschooled for twelve years. He had no problems getting into the best universities and medical school.

This is great news. The fewer kids who get leftist indoctrination in government schools, the better.
