An online petition is calling on grocery store chain Trader Joe's to change the packaging and branding on some of its products amid claims it encourages racist stereotypes. The protesters have taken issue with branding on the chain's food products from different parts of the world which change the name in 'Trader Joe's' to a popular or common name from its country of origin. It sees products from China branded with 'Trader Ming's', products from Italy named 'Trader Giotto's' and those from Mexico named 'Trader José's'.
And what about all those people who aren’t named Joe? Or traders? They truly discriminate against those in other career fields and who don’t have such a common Euro-centric name. Shame!!!

If in some alternate universe, any packaging idea was born that used Scots-Irish for branding, I would be so very peacock proud. My ethnicity finally recognized for the stalwart, baby factories and invention mills we used to be. [BTW: Our sons and those of Italians in America kept your minority behinds safe through two world wars and a couple of Asian skirmishes.] You're welcome.

Bring back the black and white labels that simply identify the contents of the package, "Green Beans" or "Tomatoes". Then we can paint all building a nice, cold gray and remove any signage that does not follow bureau directed standards. Then, open relations with Cuba and get our oil from Venezuela. Then, open gulags for anyone that resists the bureau. Sounds very negative and fatalistic, but remember when homosexuals only wanted your tolerance? Where are we now?

I hope TJ's and their companion store Aldi's doesn't cave. I love the whole Trader Joe's environment and they sell very good product. Like liberals used to smart off at us with, 'If you don't like it, don't go there'. Same should apply to them.

I think all asians and hispanic people should boycott the stores. It would make it easier for us privileged types to navigate the limited parking and crowded aisles that distinguish all Trader Joe's.

I don't care.
Remember when Freddie Prince and Richard Pryor announced that they were launching a laundry detergent called Spic 'n' Spook? Yeah, funny stuff but now they'd be cancelled.

They spend all day, every day looking for something to hate. Leftism really is a serious mental disorder.

Let's see-- I'm not sure I understand their "logic"-
Is it harmful to imagine that there may be somewhere in a fictional world, a Chinese trader named "Ming"?
Is it harmful to imagine that somewhere in a fictional world, an Italian trader named "Giotto"?
It is really sad that these people have so much hate in them, spending day after day, hour on hour searching for things to spew hate about. This is a mental illness, clearly.
It's a beautiful country, and none of this is useful or helpful - all this leftist, racist hate just bubbling up everywhere.

The complaints are pure gibberish. How can anyone take stuff like this seriously?: The common thread between all of these transgressions is the perpetuation of exoticism, the goal of which is not to appreciate other cultures, but to further other and distance them from the perceived normal.

Is this ridiculous bull excrement going on elsewhere? Great Britain, France, Italy, Australia, Canada? I don't know, and I'm curious. Reading 1984 again after many years.

Just more socialist/fascist racist pigs who want to make Chinese and Mexicans disappear from our memories ~ as they most certainly will if "they" ~ the Socialist roaders ~ ever get in charge!
I do shop at Trader Joe's and I will pull a GOYA express on the Leftwing lunatics by buying up a bunch of Ming and Jose labeled special products.
I will not buy substitutes. When Land O'Lakes took the Indian maiden off the box, I dropped Land O'Lakes ~ we treat it like poisoned food now ~ just not fit for man nor beast!

The killjoy society strikes again. There is nothing racist about selling Italian products with the name Trader Giotto’s. For one, Italian is not a race. For another it is not a judgement or mistreatment of another group.
If you saw some of the products sold in Asia that are based on stereotypes of Americans, you would be shocked. But then you would bust out laughing, because it’s not harmful in any way. And you would go one with your life.

And in related news, there will be absolutely no change in Lucky the Leprechaun being the brand model for Lucky Charms, or Chef Boyardee being the brand model for their products.
That is because the Irish and Italians have a sense of humor and aren't a bunch of panty-wasted snowflake crybabies!!!!
The Mexicans and Chinese need to tell these lie-beral whiners to back off!!!!!
