MINNEAPOLIS — Gun battles, drug dealing and prostitution — that’s what neighbors in one part of north Minneapolis say they’re dealing with on a daily basis. Homicides and other violent crimes are pulling police away. That’s leaving some neighborhoods feeling like they’re on their own. The aftermath of a shoot out near Lowry and Logan Avenues in north Minneapolis has residents fed up. “There was about 30 rounds shot,” Jake, a nearby resident told WCCO. Several homes on the block were hit. Two showed up at the hospital and are expected to recover. “It’s 24-hour crime,” Arthur Dent explained. Neighbors

And your fearless leaders want to disband the police and hire unarmed social workers. Now there's a job I'd line up for, sarcoff. You voted for them. Why you crying to me ?

So Minneapolis folks, what you going to do about it. Might it make sense to replace your gutless dim leaders? Give the pubbie candidates a try. Up to you, folks. It's your neighborhood. Either you deal with the problem and meet it head on, or you don't. Meanwhile, good luck in protecting your properties. Buy guns, lots of guns, know how to use them and when, and be safe.

The reality of security and safety for oneself and family has been made abundantly clear in the past three months. Foolish to count on the police for protection. It has become a "do it yourself" commitment to safety. I learned this three decades ago, and secured a concealed carry permit with the attendant Kimber .357 magnum. Although I used to carry only when I was going to a questionable place, I now carry all the time. At 75 years of age, it is the only defense I would be able to put up. Further, I only go to states that have concealed carry reciprocity with my home state. Sadly, it is the new normal if you care about your life and the lives of your family.

Are we heading to another civil (uncivil?) war? Perhaps that's what GS wants so he can become our "Supreme Leader."

THAT is what you get when you elect stupid, leftist Democrats.
Next election, THINK HARD about how you want to live. Elect a Republican mayor and city council and things will get much better.

#4, yes, as a friend once said, " I'm too old to fight, too crippled up to outrun anybody, my only option is going to be to shoot 'em"
And this definitely used to apply very much to me before I got my knee fixed up, I MIGHT be able to run a short distance to a car or something, but I sure as heck won't outrun anybody for any distance beyond 50 ft.
So, I practice at the range.

You better pay your property taxes or else. Enjoy the collapse in your house value - who’d want to BUY a home in Mogadishu?

FTA, "This neighborhood believes it will take the work of mental health care workers, addiction counselors, housing specialist working with police and the city council to right what is wrong here."
Guess who will be answering the 911 calls when the next budget is approved? It will not be the police or the city council.

Just think about it -- with the ugly, anti-police rhetoric and hundreds of officers in Minneapolis retiring or leaving due to health matters, how will the city be able to hire and retain new officers? They won't. This is only the start of a very troubling situation. Unless they call out the state police or the national guard on a longterm basis, Minneapolis really is finished as a functioning community.

Take it easy on these people. Who could possibly have known that pulling police protection would cause 24 hour a day crime? Maybe they can petition city council and the mayor to provide private security for the entire city?

I feel somewhat sorry for those in the neighborhood who voted republican and never said a bad word about law enforcement. For the others, I suspect most of the residents, tough #@$@. Enjoy your social workers responding to the man with a gun call at 0300, maybe you can go out and offer him some hot chocolate.

Everyone who lives in the Cities knows that THAT intersection is one that you do not end up at! EVER! Nothing new here...just being sensationalized to make the police look and sound bad! Who is the police officer they interviewed at his desk? Wow!
