Maskless Starbucks ‘Karen’ wants
half of $100K raised for barista

The California “Karen” who berated a Starbucks barista online for refusing to serve her without a face mask says she deserves half of the more than $100,000 in donations raised for the employee. Amber Lynn Gilles complained about the worker in a Facebook post last month, posting a picture of the man in one of the coffee giant’s San Diego locations who denied her service for not following the county’s coronavirus guidelines. “Meet lenen from Starbucks who refused to serve me cause I’m not wearing a mask. Next time I will wait for cops and bring a medical exemption,” she wrote

Comments:

How many of these events are staged for our cultural education? They could well have agreed to split any proceeds and Lenin decided to keep them all for the greater good.

This mask issue is bad all around. I agree with this woman's frustration, but not her reaction. Too many people are claiming authority when they have none. We need to bring this lockdown thing to an end as quickly as possible.

I just got back from dropping off a car for minor repair under warranty. Our county leaders went along with the stupid Dem governor and "mandated" mask wearing. I didn't wear one. Not a word said, no problems, should pick it up this afternoon. Don't buckle under. Be that PITA guy who remembers living in a Free America.

First of all chiropractors do not treat breathing problems and are not medical doctors. Nor do ovarian cysts cause breathing problems. Her whole story is a farce. Having said that I hardly think this warrants a $100k gofundme payment to the employee. This crap is out of control.

The use of "Karen" is flipped-flopped in the media. My understanding is a Karen is a mask wearing, guilt tripping person who attacks people for not following stupid Covid rules. It seems the woman in question who is not wearing a mask is not a Karen. Am I wrong?

Our Attorney General in Louisiana, Jeff Landry agrees with me and this woman that you call a "Karen". “Both businesses acting under color of law as mask police, and actual police acting as mask police could face liability if individual civil rights are violated due to the proclamation.”

# 12 - I won't wear one either and not one person, anywhere, has said a word. If they do, that's their problem. I don't owe anyone an explanation about my health issues. If the store refuses anyone not wearing a mask, there are plenty more where they came from.

A federal judge on Friday ordered the government to revive the DACA program as it existed before President Trump tried to phase it out in 2017, which means opening it up to brand new applications. That’s a key issue that had remained in limbo after last month’s Supreme Court ruling, which found the Trump phaseout cut too many corners. U.S. District Judge Paul W. Grimm, sitting in Maryland, issued an order restoring all parts of the program back to where they were, which means not only protecting current recipients but also approving new ones. It also renews an indirect pathway to citizenship,

Members of the military, uniformed and civilian, are strictly prohibited from engaging in overt political activities. Those rules exist to keep them focused on their mission—defending the nation. But apparently, someone in the US Army’s Equity and Inclusion Agency has forgotten the rules. With a course titled “Operation Inclusion,” the agency is promoting the line that if you support enforcing immigration law, or say things like “all lives matter,” then you’re a white supremacist. GOP Rep. Mo Brooks blew the lid when he learned the agency had organized two seminars to re-educate all of the uniformed and civilian personnel at Redstone Arsenal

Los Angeles County, the nation’s second-largest school district, announced this week that students will not be returning for in-person classes this fall and must instead continue to participate in the failed distance-learning experiment it initiated after the onset of COVID-19. This decision was made not by the parents or the schools but by the teachers union, which has opposed all attempts to reopen the county’s schools. United Teachers Los Angeles, which represents more than 35,000 teachers in the area, argued at first that the health of its members and the students they teach was the primary concern. The move to separate traffic enforcement from police work is believed to be the first of its kind in the U.S, according to the report. Instead of having trained officers conducting traffic stops, the new policy will send in unarmed civilian city workers to deal with traffic offenders.

Rosen concluded saying the message of “Lean on Me” can be a foundation for a “decent” society. “If the point of a national anthem is to provide a mnemonic, a reminder in music and words of the ideas and values that this place is supposed to stand for, you could do worse than ‘Lean on Me,’” Rosen wrote.

The National Football League celebrated its 100th anniversary last year. This should be a time of self-congratulation for the brutal sport, which has no similar counterpart outside the United States. The NFL's megaprofits dwarf those of other professional sports in the U.S. The Super Bowl, not the World Series, is America's national sports event. The league has survived all sorts of crises in the past. It was one of the first professional sports to integrate its teams, doing so in the 1920s. But the integration unfortunately ceased, and the NFL didn't reintegrate until the mid-'40s, becoming one of the last sports leagues to embrace fully a racially-blind meritocracy.
