A statue of Jesus Christ was vandalized Wednesday outside a Catholic Church in Miami, an incident church leaders say they expect to be investigated as a hate crime, WSVN reported.(Snip)The vandalism in Miami follows a series of separate incidents, which include multiple statues of the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ at Catholic Churches across the country that have been defaced and a fire at the San Gabriel Mission in California, which is being investigated. Republican Tennessee Rep. Chuck Fleischmann addressed the beheading of a Virgin Mary statue in Chattanooga recently as being “among a series” of attacks on Catholic Churches

#2, our TMS grad pastor and elders in Silicon Valley have kept our House of Worship open all year, in prayer, praise and preaching each LORD’s day... as have others, even in Sacramento, I am told!

"The Archdiocese of Miami expects the police to investigate this desecration of the Jesus Christ statue as a hate crime."
Yeah, good luck with that.

As Christians we don't worship statues or other vestments in the church. We worship God the Father and Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Cutting the head off a statue means nothing...except...what does it say about the heart of the person/people and their relationship to the Creator of The Universe (Jesus). They really need the LAW of God preached to them to shake them to the point where the Gospel of free Grace as the only way of salvation! Some people have gotten to the point where their hearts have been hardened and there is very little chance that anything will penetrate from God. That is a very scary place to be!!!

A hate crime against Jesus doesn't go without a sad end. None of us would want to be in that thug's moccasins.

#7- Precisely, “As Christians we don’t worship statues or other vestments in the church. We worship God.” God, the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. Perpetrators will be held accountable for their thoughts, words, and deeds when they come before our Lord on Judgment Day. The article was posted to call attention to yet another persecution of Christians—persecution heretofore infrequent in this country with the privilege of freedom of religion.

Destroying a statue of a Confederate solider is just ignorant.
Destroying a statue of a president is just evil
But destroying a statue of Jesus or Mary gets you a pass straight to the front of the line when you get to Hell!!!

As Catholics we don't worship statues or other vestments in the church. We worship Our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with the Father Almighty in unity with the Holy Spirit. The statues, paintings and other works of art depicting Christ, or examples of holiness residing in the recognized saints, are physical reminders much like treasured family photographs but so much more. Parish statues, both inside and outdoors, are blessed and become places for reflection and prayer. Although just wood, stone or plaster their emotional attachment for Catholics is similar to the emotional attachment patriots have for statues of Lincoln, Grant and Frederick Douglas.
The Catholic Church is the primary target for communists. It was the Catholic Church that protected the intellectual wealth of the ancient world and preserved it through the Dark Ages. Monks in cloistered monasteries laboriously copied Plato, Aristotle, the works of the Church Fathers and, most importantly, Holy Scripture. Without these masterpieces of God's Word and man's greatest intellectual achievements there would have been no flowering of the Medieval world or the notion of a nation state, let alone a Renaissance or our modern governmental structures. All the beauty and intelligence that the Marxist lust to destroy exists because the Catholic Faith preserved it, nurtured it and will continue to defend it, even if one of their own sits in the Chair of Peter.
The gates of Hell will not prevail against Christ's Church. Gates are a defensive position. Our Lord expects us to be on the offensive. We are to rebuke evil publicly and stand righteously in our faith. The role models for Christ's followers are found in the great martyr saints. At every celebration of the Sacrifice of the Mass we call their names both before and after the Consecration of the Eucharist, as ever present reminders that earthly death is often the price the world demands for those who follow Christ. Studying the testimonies and the deaths endured by the martyrs inspires imitation of their courage born of knowledge of the Kingdom of God; courage modern Christians will need to summon through prayer and fasting. A time of tribulation is upon us.

What did Jesus say?
"You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies." John 8:44

My parish went to on-line services. And, checking for masses, I saw that they posted a message from the Pope telling us that the U.S. has a serious racism problem.
I stopped going there. 8th commandment, you know.
I wonder if they'll figure out it wasn't racism. I mean, was Jesus a white supremacist? I missed that. Maybe it's a crime problem? Maybe it's a sin problem...Burning, Looting, Murdering are surely sinful. It sure is a shame to have brains and not use them.
