James Gunn, who penned the live-action Scooby-Doo films in the early 2000s, revealed that he wrote Velma Dinkley as 'explicitly gay' but the studio blocked the choices and edited out even ambiguous references. Linda Cardellini portrayed the character in Scooby Doo: The Movie and its sequel Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed, in 2002 and 2004, respectively. While tweeting with fans on Sunday, one asked the 53-year-old filmmaker to 'Please make our live-action lesbian Velma dreams come true,' he wrote emphatically, 'I tried!'(Snip) Fans have long speculated over Velma's sexuality and many have called for new iterations to show her in romantic

Never once did I speculate of any of the Scooby Doo characters' sexuality.

In '02, we might have could nipped this crap in the bud. Now every movie and TV show has to pay homage to perversion as if it was normal. Hell! Between BLM and the Alphabet enforcers, it seems as if gays now represent 50% of the population on screen.

Disgusting homosexuals trying hard to make being a homosexual "normal" and "fun" when the harsh reality is that it is abnormal, and the very high suicide rate would seem to indicate that a whole lot don't think it is fun. And for male homosexuals, the myriad health problems makes life shorter, too.
Wrong in so many ways, including morally.

It was always obvious that Shaggy was a stoner. As for Velma, I've long believed she was Paul Kantner in drag.

Perverts dont want acceptance. They want acclamation. You see that in any of these activist-types. By their very existence, they want you to treat them like God's prophets, and now down to their will.

Gay is no longer good enough. Has to be a transgender person of color. Ideally, they'd find someone who identifies as a dog to play Scooby-Doo. (Oh yes, such things exist -- google "identifies as a dog" if you dare.)

Why does a cartoon character’s sexuality matter? This is stupid.

Aha! Just as I always suspected. LGBT is just a cartoon fantasy. Whew. Glad that's over. Thanks for the clarification.

HIV/AIDS; STD; viral hep; suicide; mental health; substance abuse; violence; stigma; discrimination - why not reach out to the kids and get them thinking it's a-ok. What better way than cartoons. It's a laugh a minute kids. Come Jesus.

Assigning sexuality to cartoon characters. Who knew? 10-1 someone's written a dissertation on this. And successfully defended it.

Excuse me but who is posting this total BS ? Scooby-Doo is an imaginary dog. Velma? I don't know ... so I'm supposed to pay attention to which of these fictional characters are prtrayed as GAY ?/ I suspect that somewhere in the LGBTQWERTY realm there is a capital letter that gives a pass to animal lovers (beastiality specifically) so let's just put Scooby down as a freak fantasy.

I always thought that Velma had the hots for Fred, but of course he only had eyes for Daphne.
I never thought of Velma as being a homosexual. She never seemed attracted to Daphne. But she sure looked longingly at Fred a lot.
But I have to admit there towards the end of my cartoon-viewing years, I did sort of find the relationship between Scooby-Doo and Shaggy to be a little questionable.
In all seriousness though, this push for lesbianism among young girls is messing up so many of them. So many of them feel pressure to be lesbians. And by the time they realize that they aren't, they have already messed up their minds so badly that they will need therapy for the rest of their lives. Lie-berals destroy everything they touch!!!!

I figured that Shaggy and Velma were simply a couple of free thinking hippie types, not that Velma was lesbian. Not ever would that have crossed my mind.

What kind of pathetic small existence do you have that makes this kind of garbage important to you? It's a carton character, she isn't REAL you morons. She is made up, imaginary.
I for one am sick and tired of homosexuals thinking ANYONE else cares or wants to be CONSTANTLY reminded what they do with their genitals! Such mind numbingly self absorbed egotistical behavior should be illegal.

And Velma is NOT gay. She is just plain and a bit of a nerd. She did have a little crush on Fred. Even so, it didn't make any of it sexual and it shouldn't either. By the way, why do these idiots automatically think plain girls and tomboys should be thought of as lesbian? Some lesbians look more like Daphne unless they are wannabe men, and a lot of plain and masculine-looking girls are straight! Maybe these Hollyweirdos should stop projecting and profiling.

One only had to look at how she was drawn... She looked like Zelda from Dobie Gillis, who has been a gay activist for decades.

Homosexual groomers who write movies for children do so with visions of fresh young sex partners in mind. Makes sense; it's either that or molest them, and the mass media is very efficient. The + in LGBTQ+ is a placeholder for P, which stands for Pedosexual, and the curtain will rise on that one once the audience out there in TV land is sufficiently conditioned.
