Al-Arabiya reported that the explosions occurred in missile depots belonging to the IRGC southwest of Tehran. Explosions were reported west of Tehran on Thursday night, with some initial reports claiming that the explosions occurred at a missile depot belonging to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC).

So the two options are Iranian incompetence or the Israelis again? Could be interesting to find out.

#3 - Occam's razor would argue Iranian incompetence, but I vote for another Israeli computer virus.

We'll never know for sure who caused it. Iran never admits to mistakes and the Mossad does not gloat.

See? Even in the midst of a horrible evil on the home front, if you dig deep enough there is good news to be found.
I dont know who to give the credit to either. Israel is very capable, and having lived among Moslems for two years I can tell you they are technological troglodytes. If there is only one button on a device, and it says on/off, they will beat it with a club till it does something.

Interestingly, Israel is asking for the USA to move the purchase of two KC-46 long range refueling aircraft up to 2021 from the originally planned 2023.
Perhaps a long range mission in the planning stages? It's about 1,000 miles from Tel Aviv to Tehran, and most fighters can't go that far and back unrefueled. F-35 official range is about 1,300 miles, and would need refueling on the return leg after a mission to "fix" Tehran's problem. Isreal has 16 F-35 stealth strike-fighter aircraft now, seemingly capable of penetrating Iranian air defenses with relative safety due to extremely low radar and other signatures.
By next year, with good tanker support and more F-35s, Israel would be in a position to 'do something' about the Iranian nuclear program, if they decide that it is time.
Very likely someone is doing something now and these aren't accidents. Probably getting together lots of intel and targeting data, too. Israel has developed their own smaller 'bunker buster' bombs which can penetrate relatively deeply, many layers of concrete, and rock. Not certain if the will fit inside the bomb bays of F-35, enabling stealth. May have to be external carriage due to size, lose stealth - but conventional aircraft can come in 2nd wave, a couple of minutes behind the F-35s taking out the air defenses so non-stealthy can survive. This is what we did in Iraq, stealth aircraft took down the air defenses, then conventional aircraft did the heavy lifting.
If we go in with them, our B-2 carries the MOP, Massive Ordinance Penetrator. Look it up if you care, but basically a giant 30,000 lb deep earth penetrator bomb. Huge; B-2 can only carry two, nothing else stealthy can haul these monsters. F-35s can carry GBU-53B small diam glide bombs, OK for any normal targets, but not for deeply buried ones. I don't think Israel has anything that can haul MOPs, MAYBE one on a F-15,
but that seems iffy, weight wise, and clearances are questionable, too. B-52 an carry it, but they are as stealth as a ambulance with lights and sirens, and Israel has none.

It could well be from a USA "Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle" as well. These things have been in advanced development for many years since the appearance of the Predator and Global Hawk recon aircraft. They're now faster, stealthier, carry a lot more munitions, and can be launched from Aircraft Carriers.

Sadly most Iranian citizens are suffering from incompetence of the ruling mullas. The standard of living has dropped precipitately in the last 40 years. Drug addiction, prostitution, and other ills are becoming more common. There are shortages of clean water in many areas. Truly under the Shah - even tho' he caused problems - Iran was advancing to be the most 'Western' country in the M.E. The hard line mullas are wanting to start of war in order to precipitate the Second Coming.

Forgot to state the obvious - these mullas are dangerous beyond belief. They want the nukes in order to use them - not as a deterrence. They are entrenched and will not let go their power. A revolution will be especially bloody.
