Freshman GOP Rep. Dan Crenshaw (Texas) took aim at Sen. Tammy Duckworth Wednesday, questioning the Illinois Democrat’s patriotism after she suggested that there should be a "national dialogue" about whether to remove statues and monuments of the founding fathers. Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL, was discussing voter outreach to veterans during a Trump campaign “MAGA meetup” event on Thursday when he took a swing at Duckworth, a combat veteran who lost both her legs serving in Iraq, accusing her of supporting the “destruction of America,” The Washington Post first reported. “I think a general message that the left stands for the destruction of America

President Trump on Friday commuted the sentence of longtime confidant Roger Stone after the former campaign adviser was sentenced to serve three years and four months in prison. The decision capped a saga that has roiled the Justice Department and divided some of the president’s advisers. Stone was set to report to prison on July 14, but his allies had lobbied for a pardon or a commutation, citing his risk of contracting coronavirus while in jail. The move Friday did not come as a surprise, as Trump had at various points in recent months signaled he was leaning toward intervening in Stone’s case.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) said in her press briefing on Thursday that “a trillion dollars” is “an interesting starting point” to talk about another spending bill, but indicated that she wants more than that.“What doesn't measure up is: ‘Oh, it can only be a trillion dollars,’” Pelosi said. (Video) “No, we need a trillion dollars for state and local,” she said. “We need another trillion dollars, another trillion dollars for Unemployment Insurance and direct payments. Something like that, but probably not as much for the testing, tracing, treatment, etcetera. “So, a trillion dollars is: Okay, that is an interesting starting point, but it doesn't come anywhere near,”

Legendary NFL coach and Hall of Famer Tony Dungy slammed CNN host Don Lemon this week for his comment about the perfection of Jesus Christ.“Jesus Christ, if that’s who you believe in, Jesus Christ, admittedly was not perfect when he was here on this earth,” Lemon said to his colleague Chris Cuomo this week. “So why are we deifying the founders of this country, many of whom owned slaves?”Given that Christians believe that Jesus Christ was God in the flesh, Lemon’s suggestion that He was just another imperfect teacher completely slapped all Christian doctrine in the face. Dungy, an outspoken and admitted Christian, called the host out on Twitter.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) responded to the Christopher Columbus statue that was torn down by a mob on the Fourth of July by saying Thursday, “People will do what they do.”In a Capitol Hill press conference on Thursday, a reporter asked Pelosi about the removal of the statue, saying, “Shouldn’t that be done by a commission or the city council, not a mob in the middle of the night throwing it into the harbor?” Pelosi shrugged her shoulders and said, “People will do what they do. I do think that from a safety standpoint it would be a good idea to have it taken down if

Nervous supporters of President Donald Trump have been reminding themselves that the presidential election looked as tough at this point of the 2016 as it does today. An even better parallel might be the election of 1864, when President Abraham Lincoln looked almost certain to lose his reelection bid to presumptive Democratic challenger George McClellan, whom he had recently fired as general-in-chief of Union forces. The fate of the country hung in the balance. As contemporary historian John C. Waugh recalls in Reelecting Lincoln: The Battle for the 1864 Presidency, Lincoln’s election in 1860 had been rejected by half the country,
