An emergency room nurse heading home from her shift over the weekend was brutally beaten with a cane inside a Bronx subway station in an unprovoked attack, police said Monday. Irina Langdon, 53, was on the mezzanine in the 149th St.-Grand Concourse No. 4 line station around 11:45 p.m. Saturday when a man attacked her without warning, cops said. He struck her multiple times with a cane in the head, arms and ribs. Two Metropolitan Transportation Authority workers called 911, and Langdon was taken to the emergency room at Lincoln Hospital—where she had been working earlier in the night in the pediatric department.

Unprovoked my foot; the pictures tell the tale. The nerve of that nurse, being white.

Riding the subway? I thought it was a homeless shelter now. Anyone that rides to subway needs to act like Bernhard Goetz otherwise sooner or later they will be a victim.

"A man"? That is a fake news report. And just looking at a couple of stills....seems like he is a couple bricks shy of a load. Probably one of those mentally ill that are left wandering the streets because it is not nice to put them into a mental institution where they belong. Leave them out there to beat and kill normal people. And she's right, no defensive weapons are permitted to normal people. Wouldn't want to harm some violent criminal by pepper spraying him would we? And of course a gun is entirely out of the question. NYC is a place to be far away from, not a place to live.

Langdon’s daughter Diana Lee, 23, said her mother was back at work Monday — but was shaken up by the assault. “She definitely remembers the attack. I think her memory of how the guy looked was a little fuzzy because she was in shock,” said Lee. “Now we’re just trying to figure out a way to provide her with something she can use to keep herself safe. In New York, there are so many limitations. Taser, pepper spray — you’re not allowed to use any of those.”

Just another example of “white privilege”. Nurse, after a long shift, had to somehow disturb yet another black psychopath who was forced to ruin his cane by beating her. She’ll eventually recover, possibly not fully, but this poor black man has to endure the loss of his cane. Black Canes Matter. The heartlessness of this attack is both depressing and far too common.

Can't carry a gun, pepper spray or mace. I would suggest you buy a can of wasp killer. One that sprays up to the eaves of your house if necessary. Can't outlaw that can they? Or a can of oven cleaner. Either one would work.

Stop electing rats for any office. That would be a start. Then actively, continuously attack the illegal and racist Sullivan Laws. Nurses are needed everywhere. Babies are born everywhere. You've done your time, move. After the education for corporations of working at home, why would any corporation continue to pay the exorbitant taxes of NYC? Their profits and their people can have a better safer life almost anywhere else. You will see the complete abandonment of Wall Street for nicer environments, very soon. Banking and trading happen in the cloud. Absolutely no need to go to a downtown sewer everyday.
