A s Americans discuss black livelihood in the context of recent high-profile black deaths at the hands of police officers, a merciless villain is quietly snatching away thousands of black lives each year: infant mortality.
To be sure, medicine has gone a long way toward keeping black babies alive. In 1850, the black infant-mortality rate was 340 per 1,000 (compared with 217 per 1,000 for whites). Still, despite progress, last year over 7,000 black babies died in the United States before reaching one year of age — one baby for every 87 born. Troublingly, the infant-mortality rate is far higher for blacks than for other races:

It seems to me I’ve heard this song before , it’s from an old familiar score, same old verse, same old refrain: More money, more programs, more care—from whites. Next song,

FTA "And even when black mothers receive sufficient medical care, they tend to report being discriminated against or neglected by medical professionals in a way white mothers don’t."
How do they know they are being treated differently than white mothers are?

The libs are running every play in the book. Class warfare. Class envy. Chaos. Violence. Outright lies. If Trump isn't re-elected, we're done.

Over 70% of Black babies are born out of wedlock. I'd like to see a comparison between racial groups where there the mother is married. I'd also like to see figures adjusted to compare the age of the mother and the lifestyle of the mother before pregnancy such as cigarette and drug use, obesity, diet high in consumption of fast food and high fat snacks. Throwing money at this problem without addressing these other issues is a waste.

Let's also not forget the millions of black babies aborted since R v. W. Did you know that in the last 5 years in NYC, more black babies were aborted than were born alive?

I’m a neonatal specialist. Problems with infant mortality in the black community will not be solved with money. Probably the entirety is related to lifestyle/biology.
Obesity, obesity, more obesity, hypertension diabetes, poor diet, poor utilization of available prenatal care immediately available in their communities, and a high percentage of multiples (twins, triplets, etc) in the black community all contribute to prematurity and low birth weight. Marijuana use is also very high amongst minorities, including pregnant females.
God forbid anyone actually point out these facts, however....

Could it be the crack, the coke, the meth, the ecstasy, the heroin, the booze, the weed? Or maybe it’s just neglect after the baby momma brings home the 6th child from the 6th baby daddy and doesn’t bother to properly care for it.

Hillary Clinton said she admired Margaret Sanger. I say she worshiped Sanger almost as much as she worshiped Saul Alinsky. Sanger's reason for being was to start abortions that would halt the birth of black children. Most Black mothers were under-served in their medical prenatal care.

You are absolutely right #2. The world’s gone mad today and good’s bad today and black’s white today and day’s night today and most guys today that women prize today are just silly ... you know the rest.

Maternal health...period. All other disparities are negligible. Obese, diabetic mothers with high blood pressure and their unborn children have worse outcomes statistically. All pregnant women are told this if they seek proper prenatal care.
Bad health practices lead to bad outcomes. This is the same reason Covid is killing blacks at a higher rate in proportion to population. Diabetes, obesity, heart disease, smoking, drug and alcohol abuse. We can not force people to take better care of themselves.

Instead of an interesting examination of the facts it is the same old screed. Blacks are victims and bear no responsibility for outcome. It is NOT skin color. It is attitude and behavior and we have seen enough “in your face “ attitude and appalling behavior to destroy any advancement in the “war on racism” in this great country.

With 13% of the population, blacks are only 5% of all doctors. How many of those are affirmative action based? There are unseen factors that are further aggravating all these conditions.

Many do not live due to the neglect and circumstances mentioned but how many that survive are psychologically damaged by that environment? By the time the kids reach age twelve they have been indoctrinated with the drug culture, gang membership and racism and are way behind in education.

When the BLM/Antifa crowd starts expressing concern for the millions of unborn babies of their own community and the massive gun violence committed by gangs, I will then give these folks a listen. But until then, they have nothing to say that I want to hear. Double standards and hypocrisy have always turned me off.

I smell grant money in the air. Aside from medical conditions, baby daddies shooting them, there is a real problem with pregnant teenagers. Some of these pregnant teens were in my class at a tech school. They saw it as a way to 'get a check' Their mothers had to take care of both of them- as children. Some have a very low IQ and think lab work is a joke.
