Actually - - not such a good idea.
The management of this government "garden" - - like all entities which don't have to earn a profit to continue to exist - - will inevitably be taken over by communists. And the commies will have their own priorities as to who is honored as a hero.
The statue of George Washington will be removed - - and a statue of Saul Alinsky will be put in its place. Sorry - - this is not a good idea.

It is a terrific idea in theory. In practice, it would necessarily have to be a national park, under the control of that department. Thus, it would be open to everyone; lovers AND haters. Build replicas of the fallen statues and place them in a museum for paid admission.

Since EVERYBODY in America is already a "hero" this will cause much trouble. Who to choose? Who is the greatest? That sort of stuff.

A hall of statues to famous men including southern civil war generals. I don't believe an outdoor park would work. President Trump would have to have too many footnotes to his executive order like vandals and haters who enter will be shot on site, BLM and Antifa Keep Out there are too many crazies out there to fight off until the democrat party is officially dead and gone.
It's uplifting and sounds good but would it be successful?

Please don't put it in DC, NY, CA, NJ, MN, MI, OR.
Put it somewhere with lots of empty land. Just like Disney World was planned for the empty lands of Orlando. The tourism grew around Disney World.
What shall we call it?

This is not a really good idea. Let's keep the discussion simple. Whose statues will be placed in the garden? James Buchanan or Franklin Pierce? Every President, including your least favorite? Every Chief Justice? Speaker of the House? What is the standard for inclusion? Or do we get a panel of 24-karat men and women of government and academia...75 percent of an annual vote gets a "Greatest American" or two in...like the Baseball Hall of Fame. What defines greatness, let alone ranking among the greatest?
This has boondoggle written all over it.

Agree with above posts....not a good idea. Right now there are other priorities. It needs more thought. Perhaps a museum memorializing the many great Americans and their contributions. No statues. It would be a great place to visit and it doesn't have to be in Washington DC. How about South Dakota?

Here’s what I like about this idea.
It will appeal to the people who generally aren’t political but are horrified by the desecration they’re seeing in the country.
Ldotters are uniquely intelligent and informed, but most people don’t consider things as carefully as we do here.
If only a symbolic gesture I think this works to get him votes and THAT is very much needed right now.
Pandering? Maybe. But at this point I could care less.

The Statue Park doesn't even have to happen. Trump already won. He's got all you people weighing on this in the Comments section. I guarantee that Trump's Statue Park proposal created at least 100-million conversations, some pro-, and some con-.
But that's the point, Trump used his laser light flashlight to distract everyone and cause them to stop and talk about it. And the conversations will inevitably turn to disapproval and condemnation of BLM and Antifa tearing down America's statues, which is what he wanted, but didn't say it. He got you to say it.
Trump just controlled the conversation.
The Statue Park doesn't need to come about.

I hate to say it, but the word 'hero's is as overused now as the word 'racist.' People doing their jobs, like firemen, police, teachers and healthcare workers are all heroes now. Example, Americas long haul truckers. There's not enough land to fit them all in. We don't really need statues, we need history to be taught, so future generations will know who the heroes are.

Obviously others aren't having this problems but this is the second time that I have tried to read a Gate Way Pundit article and even after hitting the continue without disabling button, I couldn't scroll down to read the article. It is very frustrating. Surely, there are better sites from which to get articles. RedState being one.

I agree with #12, Trump dropped quite the conversation starter. People will be talking about who's in, who's out. That will require talking about the person, their time and their deeds. American history will be discussed and debated, instead of the one-sided Leftist propaganda designed to shut down discussion. The enemedia no longer controls the "narrative". This summer we will be talking about American's great women and men that have made this a Land of Legends. States will be making the case for the park to be located within their borders, engendering home-state pride for their residents. If history is not taught in the schools, it will be taught from behind the presidential podium.
Last night President Trump's rhetorical fireworks started brush fires of freedom in the minds of Americans. MAGA:KAG!
