The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is deploying a special federal unit across the country for the July 4 weekend in order to protect federal monuments and statues from a possible fresh wave of vandalism.
“The upcoming July 4th holiday weekend has the potential for increased disruptive activity at specific locations across the country that could threaten our personnel and the Federal facilities and property they protect,” a soon-to-be-released memo penned by acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf, and obtained by Fox News, says. “DHS will be forward leaning in preparing to protect federal facilities and property.”

Doing their jobs, what a concept. There are millions of government employees that are not earning their pay and need to be fired.

Soon, yesterday's valiant protesters will be today's common felons.

It is about time. Americans are sick of the mindless violence that democrats sanction. When you ignore bad behavior you will always get more and we have had enough! Mutual respect is the glue that holds society together and without it, anarchy ensues. While it is a political strategy of the left, it is anathema to the right. Bullying people to intimidate them into submission is a strategy without merit. It is thuggish and is rejected by the vast majority of Americans. We are tired of seeing the destruction, chaos and mayhem. Thank goodness the President has finally put his foot down in regard to this senseless destruction. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior we are seeing. It is disgusting and certainly will not change minds. It only hardens the resolve of the good people who appreciate and support law enforcement. When you are not comfortable in your own communities, things must change. Law enforcement must step up. May the increased protection of our federal monuments send a message to the anarchists. We have had it with your violence. To the rest of the cowardly leaders out there, your job is to protect your constituents, not to sanction destruction. Americans deserve better than they are getting from democrats who would destroy your communities in order to gain political power. Voting is a power weapon against the madness we are experiencing. Now more than ever, Trump 2020 and every “R” down ballot.

I would not be surprised if it's a 'Long Hot Weekend'. The Left hates Independence Day and most liberal mayors have given a green light to mayhem. Those protecting the monuments and other special sites need to be locked & loaded.

The bigger issue is that we shouldn't have to do this at all. This is what diversity/multiculturalism and not teaching Americanism and its defining culture/ethos gets us.

Preparing to protect federal facilities and property? Should have been doing that on day one when this crap storm started.
Does this mean the DHS is trading in their rubber bullets for the real thing and no playing around with these 'statue attackers' because statues don't shoot back? We'll how serious this gets, shoot to kill and it will stop when the protesters have skin in the game and it's not all fun and destruction any more.

They get live ammo??? If not, big mistake...you wear a mask, you riot with a molotov cocktail or weapon, you get shot...that would put a stop to this insanity...

You know, I forgot about these guys in all of the hub-bub....What exactly HAS the very expensive Department of HOMELAND Security been doing these past few months about these internal assaults on the Homeland? Is there something I've missed?

Consider the irony: On Independence Day, we have to protect our country and ourselves against an enemy, but this time it's domestic enemies. Keep the powder dry.
